Thinking Out Loud.....

Speaking of microwaves crapping out, my washing machine did the same thing earlier this month. And now I'm wondering what else will go, ya know, maybe appliances crap out in threes, also?!? I needed a book to learn how to operate it. And there is no agitator anymore - there is what is called a washplate. You load the clothes around this small slightly raised round thing in the bottom that senses the height of the items to be washed & adjusts the water level. No knob for that anymore. It's all digital. And it runs longer & makes lots of weird sounds. And there's this Eco-boost to save electricity & water ---- all new-fangled. And you have to select Softener or that won't dispense, can't wait until I forget to select that & have to re-do a load because no softener was used!! I'm probably the last one in this group to get one of these newer machines.
Crazy! Now I'm just hoping nothing else needs replacing. I looked up the dates of purchase on my other appliances & some are up there in age.... Would love the dryer to match the washer & I know it would be more efficient, but can't afford that right now. My DD's washer quit on her last month & she was able to get a rebate from our electric company for purchasing an energy efficient appliance. So..... I tried & they have stopped the program starting May 1-the end of 2013. My luck!!!
My DH is a great fixer-upper but he said he couldn't fix this. It was the transmission that went. Funny, he fixed the transmission on his truck but can't fix it on my washer. Yes, I know there is a major difference. Just throwing that out there for a laugh!!
Yuk - Yuk
I can't believe I just spend time talking about a washing machine. Hope I didn't bore anybody!!
Linda, that is such a lovely picture of you & your BFF. ((( Linda )))
-
Love the pix....Linda I am so sorry.....[[[[[[[[[[HUGS]]]]]]]]]
my car broke does that count? and of course no money to fix it, it is in my driveway, glad I have nothing to do, can borrow one tho if need be...
bbl have nothing to do this weekend, not invited anywhere which is fine!!
-
Good luck with the transmission Val. lol Maybe they will have another rebate??
Fixed my micro. I was googling online and I kept seeing where people woulld turn the vent fan on and off and it would work. Guess what? It did! LOL!!! My DH who is an engineer is baffeled.
-
Sorry about your car, Sandy. Cars suck.
I hope your microwave stays fixed, Linda.
My refrigerator started making a noise this morning that it has made before. I think we bought it in 2010 - about a year later in the summer when it was really humid it made this noise. I was like - oh great - it's year old and we're having problems already. The noise went away and stayed away for the most part - but this morning it did it again. Everything is crap.
Ha ha - Val - I have you beat - I still have a washer with an agitator. I didn't want a front loader because I am a control freak - and wanted to be able to toss more things in after I started the wash cycle if I needed to and you can't do that with a front loader - so I stayed with a top loader. Now that you say it's all electronic, I'm afraid to get one like yours if mine craps out (which I am expecting it to at any moment since I've had it for more than 8 yrs and it's been sounding loud lately... I keep warning my kids not to put off doing all their laundry 'til the last minute so if the washer goes, they don't have a problem with the laundromat being closed. They don't listen.
I don't like things being all electronic - I feel like it will break too easily and be expensive to fix. Maybe that's not true - I don't know.
It is FREEZING out!
-
Chris - I had the same wish for my washer, but I got a front load one (Electrolux) that you can hit pause and add throughout the cycle. As for the fridge - if it is warm outside, that can happen if you haven't vacuumed your condensor recently....I'm sure your DH would love to do that
-
Chris, have a new washer, HE, no agitator and it's a top loader. I can add things too. I did not want a front loader as I knew my boys would open it while it was on!
-
Hi - heading home from San Francisco tonight...will catch up with all the pages you've produced...when I get to NY.
Hugs to all. -
Yay Linda, so proud of you.....
thanks about the car it is the battery, which is better than the starter....
No agitator, what kind of washer has no agitator..never liked front loaders.
Andrew let the dogs out, lazy azz boys won't go looking for them and I can't cause I don't feel well and the car is broken, oh well,....they came back.
be safe Joan....glad you had a good time!!!
-
Update,
DH is on morphine now, doctors say maybe a few weeks, who knows, he will go when he is ready. Rebekah is still here but will go home Thursday then back June 9th till the 16th. Maybe longer if DH decides it's his time to go. This is killing me.
-
I am so sorry Deb, boy this all has happened quickly or maybe it is just me, HOW R U? Glad DD is there with you....thoughts and prayers....
-
So sorry Deb. Hugs
-
deb...thanks for the update
I'm so glad Rebekah is still there......
Life is not fair...so sorry
Thinking of you ♥♥♥
-
((((((Deb)))))
Sandy - glad the dogs came back... I hope Andrew wasn't upset.
Washers without agitators have a thing at the bottom that moves the clothes around in the water without the rough agitation of an agitator...(I think, anyway - ladies who have one - feel free to correct me...)
-
((Deb))
((Linda))
I have front loaders and the door on the washer locks while it is in use. You can add items within the first 5 minutes but you have to purposely hit the unlock button and the water flow will stop. If you don't open it when it unlocks, it will relock within seconds. I bought the drawers that go under them, two benefits...one it raises the units so you don't have to bend over so far and two I have extra storage underneath.
FDIL's mother announced she would be wearing pants to the wedding. I will weqar a "D".
Sandy, hope all goes well with the swallow test. Hope you get some more sleep.
-
Meece...i'm wearing a D also
good morning TOL
Sunny and chilly but no rain.....day for a nice walk.....
nothing new or interesting in my side........
I found big ants by the window.....they are very fast.....put some cinnamon and will get the ant traps.......Just looking is making me all itchy
♥
-
That correct Chris!!
Went to mass for my friend this morning, very near where Deb lives. I was thinking of you too Deb.
What does cinnamon do for ants?
-
Maybe they feel compelled to do the cinnamon challenge and choke to death on the cinnamon...
-
Linda....Yesterday i heard in TV that ants hate cinnamon
today that advise came very handy....I don't see them and couple of them are all curled up and gone
I even found the invisible area they were coming from....they were escaping from that hole....hahahaha
I'm sure you all find my day very productive,,,,,,,,,,
-
I hear you Chris. Maybe you can find something else that's better for you.
Yes, Sheila, very productive!
-
thanks....
chris that just isn't the right one for you...thanks that is strange looking to me....
Linda....I am so sorry you have to go through this...
made a milkshake and jamie came over and cleaned my bathroom took her 2 hours, guess it was dirty but she did the floors....then she did the dishes.....
bbl.....
happy memorial day weekend...
-
Chris...Maybe you want to work in a different area not related registers.....
It is stressful if you're feeling the same way day after day
One day the right job will knock your door...hugs
(((Sandy ))) ♥
(((♥TOL♥)))
-
It's not the register- it's all of it together. I'll call the recruiter Tuesday and see if he has anything I might be able to do...There's GOT to be SOMETHING I can do... so sad.
Now I have to redo some of the training modules I did just last month- apparently, they expire... And I need to redo the modules I did for the on the job training I need to reschedule... so I have homework for tomorrow. Sick of this stuff. I hope I can schedule it for Wednesday so I can get it over with. this week I was working only 3 days- that was enough for me.
-
Still on Pacific time here...so up crazy hours...slept all day after red-eye flight.
So happy to be home even if there are 1000 things to do and no energy.
Chris, going to PM you about Vit D.
Sheila, so happy about D! and approval, too.
I can't read any more tonight...but glad you all behaved an only wrote 2 more pages so I can catch up....
For those of you who have a day off for Memorial Day, enjoy the rest.
DH is retired from military, so I will get out my flag dishes and tablecloth...not sure if I'll bake, we ate too much wrong stuff while traveling!
So glad you are all here....and still TOL.

Linda, forgot to mention how beautiful the photo is...so much life, so much joy...I am glad you had such a beautiful friend. I am heartbroken that she has left this earth and you too soon. I hope you do something special to find peace in the memories of your friendship...maybe plant a flower or make a picture book...
thinking of you. -

-
