Delayed chemo????help

Options

I've been sick with a bad sinus infection and I was supposed to have chemo Monday but onc said that if I am not better by then we will delay treatment ... I am just worried that it won't be as effective if I don't stay on schedule ... Any advice or has anyone had delays ??

It is okay to be delayed especially if you are ill. You could get much sicker if you had chemo then.  The Doc won't delay if it is not necessary.

Three days before i started chemo I had a diarrheal illness.  Thought i was better and started chemo.  Five days later I'd lost 25 pounds from diarrhea and could eat or drink anything.  I was in the infusion room every other day getting fluids.

We ended up delaying the next chemo for a week as well.

What I'm getting at is the onc is right.  If you have an infection and they give chemo you could become very ill indeed.

Thank you for the responses I it would not be good to get really sick at this point being half way through chemo ... this cold is being really stubborn even being on antibiotics for 5 days and still not much better

    Hi

I put my chemo back a week so I could have a family holiday. It didn't do me any harm. I'm now 5 years out and doing great.
