Quick update. The bone scan shows moderate degenerative changes since last bone scan June 2012, don't think mets but will order MRI and have prescription for Gabapentin. Of more immediate concern to oncologist and something I missed are two lumps - one right axilla and one right neck. I am waiting for 1245 Doppler ultrasound. She thinks the neck one may be clot from port. If so, need full anticoagulation and port removal. We shall see.
-
Maria....have a good nap!
Iceburg....frustrating thing about bc, is there are no "absolute guarantees" that any tx will give you 100% NED in the future. Many ladies want to do everything they can, to stack the odds in their favor, even though chemo is not pleasant, many choose it when it is presented as "an option". Some find it hard, some sail through it. Best advice I can give you is: put yourself "in the future".....ask yourself.....did I do everything I could to fight this disease? Might help you decide.
Websister....well..... not a doom and gloom scenario, right????!!!!!!! Sounds like some concerns are still needing to be dealt with, and that your onc is "on it". Thanks for the update.....we couldn't hear what was being said, even though we are all crammed into your pockets and sitting on your shoulders!!!!! Still sending out positive vibes your way((((X))))
-
Thanks, ladies - Not doom and gloom.
There was no clot, they don't know why I have swelling of neck or lump in axilla - they will let oncologist explore that. Could possibly be truncal lymph edema. Will wait to hear re: MRI.
Love you all, thanks for being there

HAPPY DANCE FOR WEBSISTER!!!!!!! MARIA, TURN UP THE MUSIC, OK....I CAN'T HEAR IT OVER THE CHEERS AND HIGH FIVES!!!!!!
-
Oh ladies that music woke me up.....all good though Im dancing that happy dance for websister

-
Hey!!! What's all the racket???
... OH!! I can do a happy dance too for you websister!!!
Hope they figure out what the neck thing and swelling is... but hey.... It's lookin good though otherwise, eh? Woohoo!!!Don't know exactly STILL what is going to happen w/ recon down the road...grrrr I am none too happy either! And with the three day weekend, being this is Memorial weekend, there's not much chance on finding out too much more, as I am out of time to get in touch with that lady I need to talk to... she left early today....
Hope all you ladies are faring well! Will post more in a bit! ((((hugs)))) to you all and,
iceburg, Nihahi put out some sound advice there...a wonderful and wise woman!!! Keep us posted, and we are here for you! ((((hugs))))
-
Just came back from Victoria, jumped on here immediately to see what was happening . . . oh Websister, I am so relieved for you! It seems there are other causes for your pain than the one we're all fearing - what excellent news. I hope the lumps wlll be sorted out soon, and you will sleep well tonight, sister! I think we all will after the massive pocket party. Will post more later. The day was a bit long for me, but I am sans drains now - yayyy!!!
-
No more drains, woo hoo!! :-)
So, Benny, how is the hair growing? I was just thinking... on Wednesday it will be exactly 4 months PFC... I might just pick that day to start going "topless" if I feel brave enough. It's not long, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch but is filling in nicely and I don't need hats & scarfs for warmth anymore now that spring appears to be here to stay.
Hugs and prayers to all! -
Liefie....another party going for you too...."sans drains"!!!! I know you're tired, so we'll just keep it low keyed, but I'm so very happy for you. EVERYTHING gets easier now!
Websister...hope the new med helps with the back pain, until they can sort out a better solution.
Jennie...I bet you're beautiful, no matter how long your hair may be. Spring.....hmm...still a foreign concept around here!
Alive....thanks for the kind words, but we all share the same wisdom.....it just oozes out of each of us at different times. You're in the "waiting room" too.....sucks, bigtime.....but try to plan some good things for the weekend. I was born and raised in a small town in the states....Memorial Day was always quite a big thing, almost as much as July 4th. No fireworks, but parades, picnics and some moving ceremonies at the Soldiers Circle in the cemetery. Families also made sure flowers, etc. were on all the family gravestones. A time to remember those who have gone before.
Edi....did Sergei get jealous and hide that new laptop of yours????
Traii...oops, sorry we woke you, but really, what's a party without you!
-

Posted on f/b by beautiful Benny. Think this may be the way to our meadow. See you all there later for a picnic ??
-
Bellies......am sitting in Narita airport waiting for connecting flight to Sapporo.......exhausted......4 hours of sleep does not bode well for being upright for going on 18 hours w/o at least a nap.....
. Do not sleep in airplanes........miss chatting with you all, but will check in when I have access to wifi.
Websister, good news, it sounds like? (Excuse me....very dopey right now)
Benny-we haven't "met"' but thank you for starting this thread, and bringing all of us together!
To you all.......cyber (((hugs))) and much love......
Namaste and God bless - Jackie -
Oh Movie......culture shock and no sleep....watch yourself, girl, you could start preppin for the onsen before you leave the airport!!! I hope your daughter acknowledges your fatigue level and lets you get some rest before the adventures begin.
Lovely photo Edi/Benny....I'm gonna see if I can find it while I'm out on my bike. The monsoons have stopped for the time being, and one day of domestic housework is enough for me! I'm outta here!!!!
Hope you all have lovely days. (((((((X)))))))
-
Hi to all
Great party!
Alive - hope you are able to put the uncertainty about what will happen with reconstruction aside for the weekend and relax and enjoy. I am lopsided still after UMX, reconstruction will be the next step. While not fun, it is doable - there are good prosthesis out there but I do look forward to the day I can throw all the mastectomy bras and prosthesis away. Hope your reconstruction is sooner than later.
Maria - 2 down!!! Hope side effects minimal this weekend
Movie - that flight sounds like a marathon. Rest up and then enjoy Japan thoroughly with DD.
Nihahi - cool here but rain has stopped for us, eh? Enjoy your day out in nature, everything is so green and beautiful after the rain. I plan to try to get control of some weeds and do some planting. Re: pain - I am hoping the new med will provide some relief. As you know, pain can certainly cast a shadow over a day/night and make it more difficult to get through
Liefie - drain free - yay!!!!!
Jennie - sounds like it is definitely time to go topless! Do it proudly
Edi - thanks for posting Bennie's Facebook picture - it is a beautiful entrance to the meadow.
Benny - I will be dancing for you on Monday! You did it! Rest up and heal now, you do sound very good and strong
Traii, Caitlin, Carla, luvmygoats, and everyone else -
<br /> -
Hi ladies !
Congrats Websister !!!
Having fun in Maibe despite the fact it's 48 and raining. Not looking for my prince but hope he will show up !!! Lol
Gotta run !!! -
hi, sistas
is it just me or does everyone sound happy and positive on here ? We have come a long way since our Benny started this thread.
Have had a glorious day in the garden/yard. Sun is shining, you know that big yellow ball ( ha ha ) in the sky. Only 54 deg but that is a heatwave here.
DH finally finished off his water feature by adding spotlights, now he wants it to go dark so he can gaze at his work.
Ed and partner been painting remo i.e. whole of groundfloor walls and woodwork.
We had GD and what fun that was, think DH is toddler in old man's body. She found a snail, showed it to DH and then next thing we know is he pretended to eat it !!!!
She was jumping up and down demanding the return of Richard ( the snail ) she looks at him and says I know you have hidden him, give him back.
DH hands him over and then Richrd is kissed yuk, and placed on DH's water feature to keep him safe.
Still feel good, just demolished half a pork chop, new potatoes, spinach and spring greens smothered in gravy ( best part ) then banana and cream.
Will soon be HUGE lol.
Shedman no pet scan results yet, he is mapped and tatooed for rads and is fretting about the blue dots !! He has an enormous scar from stomach removal so dots nothing, told him it is a battle scar, hope he stops fretting.
Bank holiday here so everything shuts down until Tuesday.Websister, so pleased that your results were good news. You and DH look gorgeous on your f/b pic. Kenny and his young lady too.Hope back pain soon goes .xx
Benny will join Websister in Happy dance Monday. You DID IT. Hope ok to pinch your fab pic, xx
Traii, hard to believe it is ever cold in Aus lol. Hope you hear soon re op xx
Dakota, great you are having some ME time, try leaving a shoe on the steps for that Prince xx
Liefie, hope you and DD still having good girlie time, drains gone yay xx
Nihahi, Sergei NOT impressed by the new laptop, lol. He sulks and sits on DH's shoulder as prefers pink net book.
Be careful on that bike !!xxJennie, love and hugs xx
Maria, keep resting, this is your time xx
Alive, what will be will be, must be a pain though not knowing for sure. xx
Iceberg, keep that chin up, you are doing great.xx
Dh watching footie yuk, might go in other room and watch a chick flick, Lovely day/night to all Sisters. -

Another from our Carla.
-
Hi everybody,
DD is napping. DH is outside, and I have a moment to visit.
Websister, enjoy your garden and your time in the sun. Hope that pain stays under control. DD and I had such quality time in the car yesterday. Agree with you on that one.
Alive, I hope they can sort out your recon surgery this week. Will be good to to know what it's going to be before you commit to the first one.
Traii, hopefully this is the week you get that date - what is taking them so long?
Dakota, you don't have to do any active 'looking' - it will come to you. Some wonderful man is going to see the treasure right before his eyes . . . and go for it. Enjoy your weekend!
Jennie, do like Websister said, go topless with pride. You are beautiful with or without hair. 4 months PFC for me was August 2012. Still had very short hair, but could no more stand the heat of the wig. You know what? Many people did not even notice, or thought I had my hair cut that way. I did not really care anymore, because I knew my hair was growing. Take the plunge, sister!
Nihahi, thanks for your neverending love and support. It means the world to me. So happy that the caged tiger could get out today - photo's please?
Edi, that picture from Benny's fb is just dreamy - hope I find that place one day. Glad you got some sun, and could be outside. So good for you! Long weekend - enjoy. Remember my kids playing with snails too - grrr! Having lovely time with DD. We stopped at a nursery yesterday on DH's orders, and she got out to do the shopping. Returned with DH order as well as 7 different vegetable/herb plants she could not resist - she will plant them herself later today. I will have to start taking an interest in them, because will have to report whenever she calls - lol. Grew up in a very dry, desert like part of South Africa - only rocks grow there, so never really had a garden. Guess one is never too old to learn, eh?
I've done some walking outside to my neighbour just now. As I turned into my yard, there was a deer standing there. Only after I yelled and clapped my hands together did he trot off, not fazed at all. A few nights ago Bambi did huge damage to the rose bushes in the neighbourhood including ours. If he knows what's good for him, he'll find other stomping grounds. DH is plotting bloody murder, and deer pie is delicious. Don't own a gun, so will have to find another method - bow and arrow? Throwing a knife? DH's indignance at this deer is very amusing, as if Bambi means to personally insult DH by eating his plants - how dare he? Trying to keep a straight face - lol.
-
OMG!.....deer pie????? Careful what you suggest Liefie!
Apparently I managed to turn off my email notification today, so I have just caught up with reading the posts. No bike crashes today, Edi...no worries.
Hope everyone has had a really good day.....hugs going out in all directions!
-
Grrrrrrr... typed out loads, and dadgum thing just disappeared!!!!!!! OH that is so aggravating! Dernit!!!
Wellllll.... anyhoo, hope all you lovlies are faring well! TY to all who had kind words and support for me!! It means alot!
Am so happy for all who are finishing up with tx's!!! AND for you websister!!!
Wishing you peace of mind iceburg! Thinking of each and everyone of you!!! ((((hugs)))) and much love!!!

Alive, love pic xx

Ed's friends twins, hope they aren't lurking in our meadow. lol xx
-
Hello lovlies! (((hugs))) Edi...aDORable pic!!!

Ok... it's almost 'game-on' time. 32and1/2hrs to go. Sheesh, and here we go with the countdown mode. I am trying to get everything coordinated/organized for this...physically AND mentally. DH is starting to feel like a lost puppy. lol, he will be alright though. Why is it that men are so like a child when they know they will have to tend to the daily tasks/needs of the household? Prayers for him would be greatly appreciated.

Quick question... Those that I have spoken with are rather concerned about the length of time that I will be in the hospital post surgery. It has been stated that I will only be in one night...ONE... for a BMX, is this typical? Go in Tues. morn. and released Wed. morn. This is all that my Dr. has put aside 'at this time'. (per any, or lack of, complications, and observational purposes). I do not have other health issues to monitor, ie; diabetes, heart conditions, high BP etc...that would be a possible reason for extensive surveillance... Anyhoo, I had several say that that just seems so little time for such a surgery. Anyone here have the BMX and, how long was your stay in hospital?
Hope you all are out enjoying yourselves. It sure is 'quiet' around here??? I'll take this as a good sign? Hang in there everyone..hope se's are minimal and are staying pain free! Thinking of everyone! xxxx
-
Dear Alive.....weekends do tend to be quieter on the threads. But I wanted you to know I've seen your message, and am thinking of you and your family. You are all going to get through this with more courage and strength than you think you have.
More recent mx veterans can speak better to your question, but I don't think your one day hospitalization is unusual these days. You might go home with drains, and you certainly won't be healed, but you will be able to manage at home with support.
Keep fighting, we're all here for you. (((((x))))) -
Dear Alive, you will back on here posting how great you feel before you know it. I was only in hospital for one day not even overnight but DH was a wreck lol.
When I had my son 42 years ago he could not find his clean boxer shorts, wasn't until I came home 17 days later found out he had been washing and wearing same pair ALL that time.!! Underwear all in large built in cupboard in corner of bedroom, he never thought to open the door.
your DH cant possibly be that hopeless. Bet he looks after you beautifully, but you MUST do the pale and interesting Princess bit, DO NOT knock yourself out especially with drains etc in place.
They all love you so just give in, tell DH how amazing and clever he is, they are like toddlers and thrive on praise ha ha.
My BC buddy had double mx and was in five days but as Nihahi says if all ok you might be better at home. Here they send you home now as quick as possible to cut down on chances of infection.
Countdown the worst part just keep busy and try and have some fun now, go out on a date with DH have a meal and some quality time to reassure him and you, that all will be back to normality before you know it.
Thinking of you and sending big (((HUG))) xxSun shining AGAIN !! still need thermal vest though. DH jet washing front of house and driveway
bit of peace yay.
Tons of laundry to do
Found all my oil painting stuff yesterday so getting back to painting this week, might start with pic of view of back garden/yard.
ED still painting woodwork of remo, she posted on f/b last night that she had done the skirting boards after five glasses of fizzy wine at a party that afternoon, will should be a sight for sore eyes.
.Benny, last Rad today YAY !! Congratulations and well done. xx
Waiting to hear about ALL your weekends, lack of posts means busy and having fun I hope.
Laters xxxx
-
yawn.....just after 2am here, and can't sleep. No reason, just can't....
Edi, just finished reading your post, and now I'm smiling. Your stories about hubby are just too funny!!!!!
Busy day here, went for a long walk with hubby down to the library to return some books (we're big readers) and surprisingly, found ourselves detouring to the ice cream shop on the walk home. Rum and raisin..my fav! In the afternoon we went to the driving range to hit some golf balls....GOLF balls, liefie.....! I've been wondering how the new tight tummy and old stuck shoulder would handle it, and I can now report.....I'm still no good, but have a lot of fun trying! I'm gonna have to have a long chat with my surgeon, cause I made it clear to him that if he was going to be doing all that cutting and moving of body parts, I expected at the very least, to have a better golf swing......I wonder why he always laughed when I said that???? Busy week planned here...Tuesday I have to get checked out by the Derm doc, cause of my skin cancer history, Wednesday I start physio (again) on the shoulder, and the new axillary cording type thing, Thursday I know I have something else,,,can't remember what....
Websister...hope the new meds are helping.
Benny....yah! Pocket Party today....I might be sleepy, but count me in!!!!
Traii....surely to god, this week you will get the date!!!!!!!!!
Dakota....hope Maine was fun.....but I'm a bit concerned you may have had snow?????
Movie....nothing on the news here about crazy American lady causing havoc in the onsen.....
Liefie....how goes the drainfree lifestyle???? Have you been able to lay flat yet in bed?? I kept using flatter pillows, towels, etc. to get there. It helped alot to not be flexed for hours at a time. Keep up the amazing recovery....is your daughter still with you?
Caitlin, Iceburg, Luvmy....what's up girls?
-
Hi ladies - no snow thanks god but it wasn't the ideal vacation. We made the best of it!!!
Alive - I had BMX. I had surgery in Friday and came home Sunday. -
Hiya ladies,
Still NO surgery date.....no suprise. Just moving on as well as can be. (think i might book another holiday since I haven't gone back to work !!!)
Saturday went out to the drive-ins in the evening after having Chinese food for dinner
Sunday had a party, 2nd birthday party. It was a rainbow party and needless to say, colourfull lollies everywhere in a lollie buffet.....sugar rush for the kids was an understatement!!!
Was on the way to the Post office today when DS decided that he was going to vomit, all over himself, in the freaking car! yeh me......I was dry reaching whilst trying to clean it all off......then called my mummy to the rescue luckily I had spare pants in the car for him but as for tops, well took everything off him, and put his jacket on ( hey, thats the only thing I had for him and it was cold)!! so detour passed my mums house dropped DS off there whilst I go clean the car and wash his beloved blanket that he vomited on and his little Penguin....oh the joys....lol. He's fine now, he was fine before he vomited, guess something didn't agree with him, or all that sugar from yesterdays party !!
Alive, I know that WHEN I'm in for my BMX I'm in for 3 days to 5 days only because I have radiated skin already in the breast area....normally my surgeon said 3 days max is required to ensure there is no infection and healing is ok.
Edi, you're DH is a hoot...seriously...I think sometimes he is definetely my DH's twin. Crazy nutters but we just gotta love 'em hey !!!
Nihahi, yum, rum and raisin. Sounds like you're week is planned.....enjoy!!
Going to go and finish off watching Greys Anatomy while having a nice warm cuppa tea
night all or well, enjoy your day
-
Hi sisters,
Nihahi, so sorry to see you were up in the middle of the night. Did you go back to sleep again? All the talk of ice-cream makes me crave it, but so far I have resisted that temptation. Sea salt and caramel - yum. Even the child portions are humongous here, so I'm avoiding. Lol on your golf swing - at least you're trying! Speaking of which, my ROM is not at all what it was pre surgery. How soon does it get better? Am I supposed to do any exercises? PS said nothing about that, but I'm thinking that if I can help by doing exercises I certainly will. Had the same stiffness after MX, but was given those standard arm exercises to do. Yoga also helped a lot. As for lying flat, just last night I threw out the knee pillow and extra head pillow, so was flat last night. Felt so good! Even lay on my sides a little, mostly on right side being very careful with DIEP side - don't want to squash that baby - lol.
DD went home yesterday. She had to work a lot online, but it was so lovely to have her. Left with a way bigger suitcase than she came with due to all the stuff she accumulated here, including 2 frozen layers of her wedding cake that was still here as well as the steamer she bought last minute to steam her wedding dress last year. Also numerous packets of vegetable/herb seeds that she and DH divided between the two of them. Dropped her off at airport, then DH spied new Costco that opened in Comox, and had to stop there, then he made another stop in Coombs to buy 5 fish for his pond. Was really glad to get home at last, and was in bed by nine.
Alive, I was in hospital for two nights with UMX, but only because PS forgot to tell staff that I was supposed to go home after one night - lol. They will assess you, and if you are not doing well they will certainly not discharge you. I find that DH appreciates me so much more when he has to take care of my household tasks, so there is a positive for you! Sometimes they just don't 'see' what we do until it does not get done - lol. Time is getting short for you now, eh? Are you also getting tissue expanders placed tomorrow? Thinking of you today - it will all be okay, I'm sure.
Edi, so you're a painter too? No end to your talents, but should have guessed it - those beautiful cakes are a dead giveaway! Painting skirting boards after 5 glasses of fizzy - the result will certainly be interesting - hope there's not too much paint on the floor - LOL! Men like children thriving on praise - so true. Women are not like that - we just do what we have to do without constant reassurance/compliments/cheerleading. Weird indeed.
Traii, I'm sure we can all relate to your vomiting experience - lol. I can recall various incidents from when my kids were little - not pleasant. Like you said, the strange thing is one minute they're vomiting, and the next there's nothing wrong with them. That lack of a surgery date is working on my nerves - they are really testing your patience, Traii! But as we know, no amount of moaning and groaning will speed it up. So waiting is what we do best - LOL!
Okay. My cat is crying to go outside, and cannot understand that it takes me longer than normal to get off the couch - lol. See you later!
-
Seriously, Traii.....I'd book a holiday for sure (making sure to get cancellation insurance!). That'll get you a date I bet, right smack in the middle of your "escape time"!!! Kids getting sick in car....oh the memories of it all! Sorry he tossed his cookies, but you're probably right it was the post party yucks, so I'm glad to hear he isn't sick with something.
Have a good snooze!
-
Hi girlies !
Just about home from Maine finally the sun. Hope u all are well !!! -
Hello ladies!
Thank you for all the input, and kind words. I am due in at 6:am in the morning tomorrow!!! It's time! Hope I can sleep tonight. Trying not to let everything get to me. I know it will be alright.
Hope you all are faring well!! In my thoughts and prayers!!! Keep fingers crossed for me!!!

Will post again as soon as I can! Don't know exactly when, but tomorrow is D-day! xoxoxox
