Hi everyone, I am just checking in. Sorry it has taken so long but the past week has been a whirlwind! I have been bombarded with so much information my head is spinning. I do know that I have 2 lumps, one is 6mm and the other is 10mm, just found out that I am ER- PR+ 45% and HER2- I sort of understand what this means. I have seen a surgeon and will be having a lumpectomy. Then we will go from there. It is hard to keep up with you guys. I had gone back to the beginning trying to get to know everyone and their situations, but I could only get so far, then I went to the end and started going backwards trying to find out what happened to Bennymuffins. In between all that I have been reading reading reading.... trying to understand everything. I am still have a very positive attitude my family is doing well for the most part. My DH did keep giving me these sad eyes and then he would cry, he did that a lot, but he is feeling better since the Dr appt.
I guess that is it for now, I would like to make a personal comment to each one of you but my brain is on overload and I am still working on getting to know each one of you, besides all this we are having a graduation party for my son on Saturday and having company from out of town for the weekend and then possibly surgery next week.... so I will be in touch when I can. You all are an inspiration!!
-
Dakota.....such beautiful and honest words from your daughter.....you had made such a strong impression on her with your courage and strength. You're awesome, on so many levels!
Luvmygoats...very glad to hear all is well for you, but certainly sounds like you've had some tense moments. Not unusual for you at this time of year, I bet.
Liefie.... you are soooooo the queen of diep!!!!
Maria....pocket party tomorrow! Hope I don't track any mud in....we've got a forecast of lots of rain.
Alive....bc has met it's match with you, girl....have you got anymore idea of your tx plan yet?
Caitlin....feeling a bit better yet??
Websister, Traii, Edi, Jennie, Movie and all the rest of you. (((((X)))))
-
Iceburg.....don't you stress about not knowing all about us, or the history of this very active thread. All you need to know, really, is that we get it, we've been there or are going there, and we are here for you and always in your pockets. Concentrate on the exciting, special things like the grad.....hug hubby......remember to care for yourself.
-
Iceburg, (((((((BIG HUGS!!!)))))))). Don't apologize; you are in the thick of things at the moment, and you will get to know us eventually. Just keep coming back here so we can support you. Best wishes!
-
Iceburg - I can't keep up and I don't have going on what you do. Don't stress. Just post with us, have fun, hang out and ask away. Don't want to lose you on here but there is also a "lumpectomy lounge" thread. I bought button up front shirts from Goodwill though I still wear mine (flannel for winter) oversize so comfy. Also comfy pull on pants, I think they are yoga pants. Lots of my shopping at Walmart - handy. I also bought front hook sports bras from Walmart - Fruit of the Loom. Still wear those too esp. if doing chores and don't want any jiggle. No way could I fasten a bra in back then and you will want the support. You might go home with a drain so be prepared. Hosp. was prepared to send me home with something to hold it but I didn't have one. Most lumpectomy pts don't have one but it is not unheard of and my doc warned me. I also packed an overnight bag just in case I had to stay but did not. I remember very little of ride home -about 45 minutes. Dozed off/on rest of day and the next day.
Benny (named after her cat) last we heard was finishing rads after chemo. And her computer had died. Websister is in touch with her occasionally and keeps us updated if she knows anything new. We hope our Benny comes back here eventually.
BENNY WE MISS YOU. Hope giant plush toy is enjoying spring and fresh green grass.
Night night. Off to bed.

Dakota, your daughter is such a darling and so clever. Just goes to show, no matter how young they are, they are aware of whats going on around them. I know my DS does. At 3 years old, he asked me why I was putting my 'hair' on when I have 'other ' hear on my head...I said because mummy wants it to be a little longer before I don't have to 'wear' my hair. He said, mummy I like you better with hair like a boy, you look pretty..! lol.....
You have every right to be happy and proud, you have taught your daughter the true meaning of life

Good story about the wig and no wig at work...lol at least he realised it was the same person....lol.
I got my wig cut today.....its now the shorter concaved look with the longer bits at the front....ready for my next transformation where the wig disappears and is no longer required ! (it's done be proud though for the last 7months thats for sure through the summer months !!!
Luvmy, so glad you are safe and checked in with us.
ladies, hope you are ALL well. Just a quick check in before I prepare / cook dinner then head out.
Take care chickies....xox
-
Hello lovely ones!

nihahi, stunning photos! So refreshing and beautiful. Do hope the health problems your DS is having will improve somehow. It's always hard to see them go through such trials...as we as their parents seem to suffer right along w/them. Glad you and DD had a wonderful time together! xx
Edi, I adore Frank Sinatra, and Bing and...
Don't think I want to analyze your dream, LOL, another time maybe, heehee. Nothing like a smart arse when ED gets good news, re: job...shame on him!!!! I would box his ears too! xxliefie, so happy you are coming along so wonderfully! "model patient"!
Here's a funny thing... I used to live in a renovated chicken coop! Loved it!!! It was perfect for me back then when I was single, early 20's. Dreams are quite extraordinary sometimes aren't they? I have always pondered their meanings, but just play around w/figuring them out! Keep healing nicely and don't overdo! xxDakota, again, DD is a gem...just like her mama! Mr. Right will show up one day when you least expect it!

Traii, hope you are rid of the sniffles etc. My surgery date is this coming Tuesday the 28th...ugh bmx. Trying not to fret, but I DO have my moments. Take care of yourself hon! xx
movie, agree w/nihahi...get on that plane and GO for it! Do your best to enjoy your trip, you deserve the break!xx
maria, here's hoping you are ok. IDK if I will be getting chemo yet, but I know it can't be an easy thing to go through. Try to be good to yourself and not worry about your hair. I know I would not want to go through that either, but it is an se that apparently is unavoidable. ((hugs))
caitlin, hope your stomach settles down, and aches/pains take a break...as in; for good... and all your post chemo se's ease up! Thinking of you! xx
websister, Thinking of you!!! Will be keeping you in prayer! xx
luvmy, so good to hear from you! I love fresh eggs! Used to live on a farm, and took care of it w/family! Lots of work, but was an enjoyable learning experience, and very fulfilling! xx
iceburg, so good to hear from you too!!!! ((hugs)) to you! I am fairly new to my dx as well, so we can learn all this stuff together! These fabulous ladies are just what the Dr. ordered for us! So very thankful for them! We are here for you! xxx
jennie, scottiee, and anyone else I missed, thinking of you and prayers going out to you all! xoxox
Surgery coming Tuesday morning... Found out today, I 'may' not be able to get the reconstruction I was hoping for. May not be covered, which means a potential game plan on that. Not the bmx though... they have to go, I want this crap gone!!!! It's just, this close to the time, I 'really' need to know just exactly what I 'can' get in the future, and/or immediately. Will hopefully get to the bottom of that tomorrow. Sheesh...it's always something!

Good night ladies! Love to all...have a great day/evening! XX

Hellooooooo!!!!! Is there anybody awake out there in the world? Australia? England? Traii, you sexy mama? Edi, you nekkid loo stalker? It's 4 am here, and the 'queen of DIEP' a la Nihahi have struck the notorious post-op insomnia. So sitting in the kitchen, and can't even make myself a cup of coffee. Not allowed any caffeine yet due to its vessel constriction quality. Had a glass of water instead, but I will kill for coffee right now. Nihahi, how long before I can have coffee again? My PS did not tell me, and I was too 'knackered' in Edi's words to ask. Also forbidden to eat chocolate, and I'm used to a small square or two every day to placate my sweet tooth. . . and that tooth is becoming soooooo restless - oh well, it is what it is. Just stop whining, and suck it up, Liefie, you're a big girl!
Alive, so hope that you can get the recon issue sorted out before BMX. Like you say, it will surely help going in to know that you can have the recon you want afterwards. We are so privileged/blessed here in Canada with our health care system that we don't have the financial worries that you US girls all too often have. Isn't it bad enough that you have bc? My goodness! As for the MX, I remember all too well just how scared I was. Just 5 weeks prior to the mastectomy I also had a hysterectomy - endometrial ca as well - which was a much bigger surgery, but I felt like a lamb to the slaughter when time came for the MX. You know what? It was not bad at all. Sad to lose my breast, yes, but so relieved to be rid of the beast who invaded my space so devastatingly. I can see that you have reached that place too, and that is good. (((((HUGS!!))))
Traii, your new haircut sounds lovely! You will be so relieved once you can finallly get rid of the wig. It must be very hot in your part of the world to have that thing on - I would have glowed bright red from the heat if it was me - lol. Your little boy is so adorable! Children are just the best. So innocent, honest and sincere - priceless.
Iceburg, what a good thing that you will be so busy this next little while! Enjoy your son's graduation activities and your weekend company. It all helps you to realize that this bc is a temporary stumbling block that you have to deal with, and that you are just continuing with your life despite the beast trying to steal your joy. No way! Be grateful for all the positives, and don't give that beast the time of day. ((((HUGS!))))
Okay, I'm yawning now. Maybe I should go back to bed, and put my cold feet against DH's warm ones - lol. See you all later, sisters!
-
Liefie, 4am and you are UP....you poor gorgeous thang!...oh my, no caffeine, no chocolate, now whats a girl to do...and at 4am in the morning, ummmm SLEEP....lol...10:30pm here and I'm watcin Mrs Browns Boys...too damn funny trying not to laugh too loud!!
Luckily Liefie, it's not all that hot here now....actually NOT at all....but having cut shorter is just one step closer to 'coming out' with my new hair. Is your avatar a current pic? My hair would be your length about your length there.
Hope you do fall back asleep....good sign yawning...lol
Alive, BMX next week...thats the date they said I SHOULD of been having mine too.....that was over a month ago...I'm still waiting PATIENTLY until I know my date!! I have had the lumpectomy though (chickened out having the BMX right away...was just too much to deal with all at the one time, especially being diagnosed with a 2nd cancer in a 35year lifespan !!) I hope you can have the reconstruction sorted out tomorrow and hope it goes the way YOU want it to go .
Iceburg, sorry must of missed your post when I posted earlier. So glad you have activities that can keep your mind occupied this week with your sons graduation. Don't worry about not replying to each one of us individually. We are just happy you checked in so we know how you are doing. Take care and enjoy the graduation stuff planned.

Hi ladies !!!!
Sitting in the dr's office. Trying to be proactive with DD and getting her impact testing baseline. It's for concussions. She loves soccer and would think nothing of sacrificing here body.... Lol.
Unfortunately no men on our office it's very small and all women. Just fine tuning my skills on my patients !!! Haha. Headed to Maine for the weekend although its going to rain looking forward to having a few days off !!! Love to all be safe !!! And SE free. -
Traii, sadly not sleeping yet, but will go try now. Yes, that photo was taken on Sunday afternoon after I came home from the hospital. I'm in my raw state there, no make-up, dirty hair etc. - lol! Just after that DH helped me to get my first good wash head to foot after surgery. Quite the challenge with those drains and steri strips that should not get wet, but we did it. It was heaven on earth to feel clean again after mostly lying in a bed for four days.
Dakota, enjoy your free time in Maine!
-
Hey there Queen Liefie.....sorry about the looooong night for you, but can totally relate. re: caffeine....I was more restricted preop than post. Couldn't have any while in hospital, but I was in longer than you.....7 days for me. Once I got home, I was allowed, but I really didn't want any for another week. I love my coffee, usually, but if I'm feeling "off", I just lose my taste for it. I bet your PS says stop by Timmies on your way home!!!!! Except for a couple nights (and due to discomfort or "zings" along the tummy incision) I have actually had better sleeps post op than I have for years! (again.....bye bye alien)! Don't know if it's still the anesthesia working its way out of me, the sleep deprivation while in hospital, or what.....but I'm loving the concept of going to bed at night and ACTUALLY SLEEPING!!!! Who knew it would be so much fun!!!!
Iceburg.....omg....we can all relate....the waiting and not knowing is the hardest. Luvmy's suggestions all sound good. Hope the recon gets sorted out for you soon....were they initially going to do recon at the same time as the lumpex? If not, you've got time to get things sorted out. Recon isn't something you want to rush into...take the time to figure out what works for you. Like Liefie said, we are so fortunate here in Canada not to have THAT worry, on top of everything else. It means a few less options for us "cosmetic" wise, and longer waits...but nothing is ever perfect, is it.
Traii....itwent down to 4 here last night.....wanna trade weather yet
! Your son is just so cute, but we all know where he gets that from! If your hair is similar in length to Liefie's, and he likes it....why not just go for it! By the way, what the heck is a concave haircut?????Maria.....in your pockets, rain boots and all. I'm doing blueberry muffins today girls....enough for all of us!!!!
Alive..you are too funny....I'm thinking you and Edi will need watching when we ever have our rendezvous....lived in a chicken coop?????? What the....! Then, of course, Luvmy is talking about slinging mooseballs....and you guys think I'M THE TROUBLE MAKER??? SHEESH!!!
Dakota....I love Maine....enjoy!!!!!
Liefie...walk, walk, walk....!
Movie....getting close to lift off..breathe, breathe, breathe.
Websister....almost appt time, thinking of you bigtime.
Gotta dash, muffins are ready to come out of oven.
-
Nihahi, a concave haircut is the opposite of a convex (what is that?) haircut - LOLOLOLOL!
Enjoy the muffins - it sounds delectable!
Timmies will certainly get a visit from me tomorrow. This is torture . . .
Websister, thinking of you . . . Big Hugs!
-
This weather bulletin is for Traii.....it is now snowing in the mountains, about 1/2 drive from me......STILL think you've got it cold there????

-

Oh what a great picture Edi!!!!!! I'm swiping it!

Hi everyone! I found my password and logged in! My computer died about 6 weeks ago or so and am using a friend's laptop.
Edi, I went in for my last rads today and the devils added two more treatments! I took them in a bunch of candy in celebration of my last rads (Turtles, Campino candies, Laura Secord Fruit Jellies (my fav), etc). Then they told me I had two more treatments. I told them they can't open any of it til Monday now haha! So the candy is sitting on their nursing station in a big bright blue and lime green bag with a balloon, and it's going to stay there til Monday. I told them I'm going to check that all the bags are intact lol (j/k)
I am sooooooo tired. I'm surprised at how fatiguing rads is?

I'm going to read and see how everyone is.
-
Oh my goodness Benny! What a wonderful surprise! SOOOOOO HAPPY to hear from you at last! You sound so well too. Almost done rads - Benny, you did it, you really did! Sleep all you want, because sleeping is healing. This thing is in your rearview mirror now, and it can only get better from here! Love it that you're back! How is Diamond? And Benny?
-
Bles you dear Benny. Two more Rads oh poo. Fatigue is pretty draining just give in and sleep dear friend xx
-
Nihahi..lol...concave short back longer side bits!!
Hey it was snowing up at the mountains here too. Got to -3degrees overnight and 4 degrees in my town. Was chilly chilly taking ds to kindy this morning!!
This is our winter...arent you suppose to be spring or summer there??
Liefie glad you having a little nap. As for your hair it looks gorgeous. So glad you were able to have a 'proper' wash..lol. Im dreading the drains too...one was enough with lumpectomy for me!!! But 2!! And im a tummy sleeper ;(
Benny good to 'hear' from you. Glad rads almost done. See you did it girl...congrats
Cyber mommy....mrs browns boys had me in tears yesterday. 'she' was having a discussion with 2 priests....her ds phone goes off on vibrate....well we know where 'she' had it sitting.....down below...well was a major crack up...will leave rest up to your imagination!!! Lol

Hello lovlies,
Number 2 down only 10 more to go, My hair started to come out yesterday, much more today so I had my DH and DS buzz me. Went to PS before treatment. Had a fill, then he had to cut me open a bit cause one of my deep stiches was poking up and irratating the area. Now it is really sore.
Nahahi-Thanks for being there today, the muffins hit the spot.
Dakota- Maine how cool I've always wanted to visit there it looks so beautiful.
Iceberg- You belong here, I just joined last month these ladies welcome with open arms. It is so nice to come to a place where your feelings are understood.
Traii- what are they waiting for? Waiting is the worst.
Liefie- No sleep boo, no caffine double boo. Can't get thru the day without my cream with a little coffee HeHe.
Alive- next tuesday will come qiuck. I got some button up shirts makes it easier the first couple weeks. Also stocked up on frozen meals for the boys so I would not have to cook or worry about the kitchen being trashed. Keep us up to date
Caitlin- I hope you are feeling well.
Edi,lovemyscottie and all you other great gals hope you all are grand.
-
" width="398" height="303" />for the Warrior sisters, Carla posts some fantastic things. xx
-

My ED and GD like two peas in a pod. Love them so much xx
-
Hey.....Benny posted!!!! So good to hear from her, and while reading her post, I was thinking she sounds stronger and defo in a better "place" than when we last heard from her. Benny....get that blinkin computer sorted out....we've missed you!!!!!
Maria...glad you liked the muffins. You certainly are hanging on to the "let's just do this so I can get on with things" attitude...you're awesome. Hope the se's stay minimal for you this time.
Websister....finally Friday is here. Thinking of you big time today. Bet your son was a real "stunner" in his grad suit.
Traii....weather update...rain is tapering off for us, but significant snow/rain in the high country means now we have flood warnings for the rivers around here. Snow yesterday got within 10 minute drive of us, and I can see fresh snow on the mountains this morning. Never a dull moment....and...yes....this is our spring!
Caitlin....feeling better?????
Alive and Iceburg....thinking of you.
Dakota...enjoy the long weekend!
Movie....flying towards the "land of the rising sun".....gosh, have an incredibly, fantastic time!!!!!
Have a great day everyone.
-
Hello lovely ladies,
5 am here, so I managed to sleep an hour longer than the previous night. Getting better and better at sleeping on my back. Soooo want to turn on my favorite left side, but don't want to squash the precious DIEP baby, so will be patient. Did have a 3 hour nap yesterday afternoon, so all good. Almost off all pain medication, but will take some this morning as PS will be pulling the final drain - will feel so good to be rid of all the 'accoutrements' they so generously bestow upon you in hospital. Freedom! With a drain it feels like you have a wayward puppy on a leash all the time - lol.
Websister, we are in your pockets this am. ((((BIG HUGS!!!))))
Nihahi, I do want to congratulate you on the good sleep you are getting now. It makes such a difference, doesn't it? Go for it - you have years of deprivation to catch up on! Can't wait for that coffee from Timmies today, and there may also be a caramel and sea salt ice-cream cone in my near future - lol. DD has an older bicycle that she wants to get rid of because she wants to buy a new one. She said I could have it any time. Only problem is that bike is in Edmonton, and I'm on Van Island. Can always ride it back here over the Rockies . . . will probably take 3 months - lol.
Edi, your girls are a hoot. Wonder where that comes from? Their ma/grandma is such a prim and proper, well-behaved, real English lady. . .
Movie, are you in the air already? Enjoy! A good thing Japan does not know what's coming - lol.
Maria, will you be doing the Taxol afterwards? The hairloss is certainly not pleasant. For me it is mainly because the whole world then knows you're a ca patient . . . but it is temporary. Bet your scalp feels a lot better after buzzing with no more hair pulling on it. Have fun with the scarves and the big earrings! The other bonus of being bald is that you don't have to spend any time fixing your hair. During chemo when I was so weak that was a real 'blessing'. Had the time of my life just to get showered and dressed, and had to lie down in between to catch my breath . . .
Bye for now, girls. DD and I are leaving for Victoria in a while to see PS at 11.30, then on to lunch somewhere, then home. Seems it is going to be a beautiful sunny day after days of grey skies and rain. A good day to you all!
-
Liefie....have a good day with daughter, and a lovely drive down to Victoria. It will be glorious getting rid of that last drain!!!! And of course......coffeeeeeeee! Yippee! I had months of having to sleep (hah....not!) on my back only, because of shoulder and alien issues, so didn't find it that different for the Diep recovery. I can now roll over onto my non-diep side without issues, but the first time I did so.....yowzer!!!! Must have pulled on or tore an internal suture on the tummy incision. I learned to roll verryyyy carefully after that! Could you please send some sunshine our way???? So much rain here yesterday, I couldn't play outside, so I spent some time in the condo gym. For you.....walk walk walk walk walk!!!!!
-
Nihahi, see my last post again - I added someting about a bicycle. Are you game for a 3-month long bike trip? Lol. I'm also rolling over very carefully in bed, and will for some time to come. Will try to send some sunshine your way, because I can just sense that you are like a caged tiger that wants to get outside and play!
-
Oh, Liefie....you have me nailed to a T! Yup....I am defo an "outside in just about anything is better that inside" kind of girl. Even more so, now that I have had too many moments (shoulders, alien, diep) of realizing what it's like to not be physically able to do what I want!!!!!! Anyhoo.....time to get busy. ((((X))))
-
Let's all say a prayer for Websister that she will get great news on her results today..
Edi- so glad you like my post and that you can share them! Love you..
Hope everyone has a great weekend!! -
Hello Sisters,
liefie- so glad you got more sleep. Yea for getting out your last drain, I thought they were the worst part of surgery.
Edi- what a great picture of your girls. They are both so lovely
Websis- Saying prayers for great test results.
Nahiha- I will try to send you some sun, it has been really sunny here this week.
Liefie- I am having 4 Adriamycin, 4 cytoxan and 4 taxol. then two months of radiation. I got to say it was liberating not having to do my hair this morning. Had my neulasta shot this morning now I' starting to feel a bit yucky. Think it is time for a nap.
Love to you all.
-
Again thank you all for your heartfelt comments, now I want to ask your opinions on something. First off my surgery is scheduled for may 30, I' m definitely ready for that. The thing is they seem to be on the fence about chemo at this point, surgery may fix that but am I crazy that after the research I have done, I want chemo? sounds kind of crazy but I think I would feel so much better with it. Esp since I am 43 apperently still pretty young for BC. It just seems like it could get rid off any stray cancer cells that they can't see. Do they give you a choice? What do you all think? What decided for you to get chemo? Thanks Everyone and thinking of you all!
