Not sure where they are made. But they are set up to measure kg, pounds, and stones for the British market. So they obviously go for an international market.

gritgirl - yay on the muscle gain, weight loss!  I spent 4 hours in the dentist's chair this morning - Prolia injections mean that I have to do all the year's dental work in one fell swoop.  I had damage from chemo that needed to be addressed, and it was not fun.  Some filling re-dos, and a crown.  I should not complain afetr the scary few days that you have had.  I missed my Livestrong class - thought surely I would get there by 11:15, since I started at the dentist by 8 - but they were doing molds and all kinds of time consuming stuff, so I just went in and did the treadmill and hand cycle.  I considered the elliptical but I was too tired and my novocaine was wearing off!

Specialk. I know how you feel. I'm so sorry you are going through. I'm still exhausted after the weekend. Picked up my blood thinner, xarelto, and started that tonight. Going to push myself outside to do some yard work. Just saw the news about Oklahoma. How horrible.

gritgirl - I don't think anybody likes the dentist, lol!  Poor dentists - it probably makes them sad.  Be careful outside and don't overdo it, especially as you get used to your new med!  I have the OK stuff on my home page - so scary and awful for everyone there.  I am a California girl - wild weather scares me because it is so unpredictable.  Give me an earthquake - they only last 30 seconds, and I know what to do!  I can't imagine how frightened everyone must have been.

I grew up in Wisconsin. You get used to going for cover. But the tragedy of that devastation. Just overwhelming.

My baby step for today: working in the garden for about two hours pulling weeds and planting annuals. Am I ever sore!

Gritgirl, do you ever sleep? I ran on tired for so long, it's easier with more sleep!

Curveball, try not to overdue! Easier said than done. I had to wash a litter box, had to be very careful.

SpecialK, can't remember if I ever asked: what part of CA? So tired, I've forgotten.

Ok, ladies, I give up, its bed time. Have been using all kinds of excuses to keep from walking, I need to keep promise to myself tomorrow. Night all!

2nd time. I sleep like a middle aged woman, meaning I wake up several times a night.plus, I'm feeling anxious after the whole blood clot thing.

@2TA, it was "lazy gardening". I was sitting down most of the time, but my arms and shoulders are sore. The soil here is stiff clay and it hadn't rained for a while so it hardened up too. Rained last night so the annuals I planted should get off to a good start. :)

2ndtime - I was born and raised in L.A., went to college in San Luis Obispo, graduated and moved to Sacramento and met my DH a few years later. I was a Californian for the first 27 years of my life.  DH was in the military for 28 years and we were stationed in Merced for 2 years, from 1990-92.  I still consider myself a Californian who has lived in a bunch of other places, lol!  We lived in the far east, New York, Washington state, several parts of Virginia.  We spent 9 years in Washington, D.C., and have been in FL for 7 years.  DH retired from active duty in '09, but stayed in his same job, so we are here for the forseeable future.

curveball - I first read your post and thought you were planting animals instead of annuals - maybe I need some more sleep too!

gritgirl - how are you feeling?

Specialk: I'm doing ok. Just started the blood thinners, and I think today what happened over the weekend hit me.  I need a counselor on call to deal with all of the emotional rollercoasters of cancer. Cripes.

Plus, two very close friends are moving out of DC and that is a sad, sad thing for me.  The result?  I ate a lot of cake today. A lot.  Oh, well.

I'm going to call today a vacation day and just take it easy on myself. Meeting a friend for dinner tonight (one I know won't move away). Maybe I can add some good old mac and cheese to that cake.

    How is the knee?

I think we should call this the old codger exercise club. :-)

Gritgirl, I resemble your last comment! Been procrastinating getting out the door to go walking (seems like I procrastinate getting out the door for most things any more), then tired after 15 minutes, told myself I couldn't use that excuse. Pushed myself and just returned from a 55-minute walk (looking @ that, like a minute for every year?). Slower walk than usual, but so what?

Thanks SpecialK, for some reason thought it was more northern CA. You really are a CA (not to be confused with Cali) girl! You've also seen a lot of the US.

Curveball, I often sit while gardening, seems smarter than injuring my lower back. I guess I'm a lazy gardener too, when I do garden which isn't often. This is a reminder I need to get rid of weeds, but don't want to pull them out.

gritgirl - some days are cake and mac/cheese days, you know?  We all have them. Is there someone you can call to discuss this latest challenge?  I know it was/is scary for you. Sorry about your friends moving - believe me, I do understand that!  I feel like I have left many friends behind - the good news is that even though I am not geographically close, we are still the best of friends!  So many of my military friends knew my chemo schedule and would text me while I was hooked up to my drugs -
I thought that was sweet, because all I had said was every three weeks, they noted this on their own calendars - I had texts rolling in from across the country all day while I was in the chair.  It was awesome!

2ndtime - I would like to walk but we are having unstable weather - and when I am ready to walk it seems to be hailing and lightning - kind of discouraging, no?  I need to get it together earlier in the day, or go to the Y and do it all inside!

SpecialK, it's amazing how technology brings us together. Remember well back before we had PC's and the like, after I was diagnosed, stayed up all night worrying & crying till I could talk with someone on the phone from ACS and NIH - they were on east-coast time. When you talk about the Y, reminds me of DD who teaches swimming and lifeguards at a Y with an indoor pool, something not common for southern CA. Those 4 years of aquatics, water polo and swim team paid off for her.

Specialk. I met a friend for dinner and that helped. Plus, I talk a counselor tomorrow. I meet with my oncologist tomorrow and I'd really like the focus to be on how good my scans are, rather than the blood clot. That's just part of the cost of doing business.

One good thing is going to my appointment will mean more exercise. A positive side effect. Are there any of those?

2ndtime - my kids were swimmers too - in northern Virginia, they swam summer league swimming outdoors from May-Sept., then in high school it was a winter indoor sport!  Weird, huh?  I just spent about an hour tonight talking with a former co-worker who is newly diagnosed - my family was starving for dinner and I just kept on talking - I am going to her first BS appt. with her on Friday, she is single and I don't want her to go alone.  I can't imagine what I would have done without the ability to come here and share with the people of BCO!

gritgirl - glad you could have dinner with a friend and that you can spend time with a counselor tomorrow, and also your onc.  I hope the appts. go smoothly.  About the positive side effects, hmmm - not sure on that one, lol!  Maybe we just have to decide that some are positive.

@specialK, LOL!! I think I am about to inherit my mother's cat (really she was more my late father's cat), which has taken to wetting in the house. My mom has just put a deposit on a brand new fully carpeted apartment at a retirement community and that kind of behavior just won't do! Once I get into my own house, I will have a garage and if the cat continues to misbehave she will find herself in exile. I feel sure I am in for some interesting times, as I already have a cat myself. I am already coming up with schemes to prevent WW III from breaking out between the two of them. "Luthien" is 17 years old, but she's not quite ready to be "planted" yet!!

All I did for exercise today was walk several blocks to get from one bus stop to another. I'm sure it was well under a mile all told, it was divided up between three different trips so each walk was very short, and it was mostly downhill. I was going to walk home over the hill from the bus stop after my support group meeting (maybe half a mile), but it was raining. I don't mind rain so much but my shoes aren't water tight and my rubber overshoes pinch, so I skived off and asked my mom to come pick me up. I gotta get some different shoes to wear when it rains. Tomorrow will be taking a load of boxes to my new house.

Added later re: positive side effects: I have just started using eyedrops to prevent/treat glaucoma. My ophthalmologist says the drops can cause your eyelashes to grow, sort of like Latisse. I think that would be a positive side effect. :)

I am just finishing up the Livestrong program at my local Y.  I loved this program.  It made me excercise at least 2 times a week.  I will find out on Friday what my assessment is against the first session 3 months ago.  I wish it was continueing.  I now have to decide if I want to join the Y to continue to go there.

loneskier - I also do Livestrong!  I love it!  They just had the Relay for Life event last weekend and the Y asked all of the Livestrong participants to come and wear our yellow shirts and be part of their representation.  This was the first time I did the survivor's lap - it felt weird to be applauded for being alive, but I'll take it.  Our local Y has the absolutely nicest people and they have been very flexible with me - I have stopped and started a couple of times due to a lymphedema diagnosis and two surgeries.  This week is Livestrong week and they had us put cards on the wall listing the people we know who have been touched by cancer - my cards were a bit scary, lol - I had a lot of names and one card for the ladies of BCO.  Someone asked me what BCO was so I did a short commercial, lol!  My neighborhood has a small gym at our pool/tennis courts that my DH goes to, but when Livestrong is done in about 3 weeks I am not sure I will want to leave all the people!

I wish they had the Livestrong program here. I've been down on my exercise lately. I'm hoping that I get a little break from all the medical stuff here, so I can just live my life, including exercise. I did walk about a mile yesterday, which is good. One frustration is the neuropathy in my feet. It can make any exercise a little weird feeling. I have bought a few more comfortable shoes to deal with it, but it pisses me off that I'm limited on wearing cute shoes. Rassumfrassum.

gritgirl - I wish all the Ys around country could have Livestrong - it is so great!  I have a BS appt is a few minutes and I am dropping off Livestrong literature for them.  I am going with a newly diagnosed single friend to her first BS appt tomorrow and dropping off some there too!  I am like the Livestrong fairy!  My feet are not the same after Taxotere and Arimidex - I have a lot of cute shoes I will never wear again - makes me sad.  I was lucky that my foot neuropathy resolved almost completely, but my feet seem to be affected by swelling and joint pain from the AI.  The good news for me is that in Florida everyone wears flat sandals - so a pedicure is key, but D.C. is more cosmopolitan and people dress sharp!

Thanks to broken escalators (not on Metro) have gotten my two flights of stairs in.

Jury duty today. Was hoping for early release so I could walk part way home. But nope, it appears I might actually have to be on a jury. I so hope one of the lawyers strikes me. Apparently my concern about the trial going longer than planned (it's supposed to go June 3 at latest) wasn't enough for the judge to excuse. My herceptin is June 7 and I'm doing a major job at a conference June 4. I was on a hung jury once so know it happens. If I walk for my treatment, do they put me in jail?

gritgirl - have the attorneys conducted voir dire yet?  Do you know what kind of trial it is - is in criminal or civil court?  If you do, one of the best ways to be excused is to voice viewpoints so extreme that one or the other of the attorneys finds you undesirable.

So tonight a did about 40 minutes doing my Wii just dance. I have to remember this is like groundhog day. Every time I go back and do a little bit, it gets a little bit easier. Plus, my hope is that by exercising, I can ease my depression.

another load of boxes into the car. Tomorrow I plan to take them to the house and if I have time also pick up my bike from the shop and take it there. I think it will take only 5 or 6 more loads to empty the storage unit--woohooo! I had no until I moved out of my townhouse that I had so much stuff. But the house I'm moving into is only about 2/3 the size, so some of what's in the garage now is gonna hafta go! (Maybe I should join the "not quite a hoarder" thread too.)

I also test-drove a string trimmer I want to buy for yard work. I think perhaps my left arm was weakened by surgery--it can't be good, strengthwise, to have lymph nodes dug out of your armpit! I'm right-handed, so at least it wasn't my "good arm" that was affected, but even so that trimmer seemed much heavier than I remember from the one I had years ago. Or maybe I was just stronger then.Frown  I will have to get a strap added so my strong side can take some of the weight, or I won't be able to use it for more than a few minutes at a time. There's one other brand of trimmer I want to check out...maybe it won't be quite so heavy. Onward!

Gritgirl, that's the philosophy I'm using, that it will get easier as I continue.

Curveball, good for you! You're getting closer to getting it done!

It was cool and cloudy this morning so I spent an hour trimming bushes in the yard that I couldn't get to earlier this year because I didn't have the energy and TE's wouldn't let me. I figure there's got to be some exercise using hand trimmers and then filling green bin over halfway. Walked my usual walk, only got one lap around the neighborhood (about 15 minutes) before foot started hurting. DD asked me to go on walk with her after dinner and only lasted a little more than 2 laps, almost an hour of walking today. Found flip flops didn't bother my feet as much as my tennies.
