High blood pressure during rads

Options

Hi All,

I have completed 30 of 34 rads sessions. I have some fatigue that seems to come over me like a wave, knocking me off my feet. I also have some rib and back pain and some painful, little bumps in the crease under my breast. But all this is tolerable compared with the sudden spike in my bp over the past two weeks. I'm talking like 150/100 as compared with 125/85. I take Norvasc 5mg which has always worked really well for me. Now it doesn't seem to be working at all. It takes my bp down for a few hours but by the end of the day it's back to 140/100 or higher.

Nothing in my routine has changed -- same basically vegetarian diet, same yoga and meditation routine, same exercise regime. The only thing different are the rads, but all my docs say it couldn't be related.

Has anyone else seen this? Does it go away after rads are finished? Please tell me I am not a nut-job or a hypochondriac like my docs seem to think.

Thanks so much for any words of encouragement.

Kim

DX, 07/12; lumpectomy/sentinel node biopsy 08/12; AC 4 rounds; T 11 rounds; 34 rads.

I have also had some high BP readings, mostly at the doctor's.  My first visit with MO, it was pretty sky high, then checked at the end of the appointment and it was down.  I also take some meds that contribute to a higher BP periodically.  I don't really know if I should be worried or if this is just an episode that will end when stress lessens.

Now that your sessions are over, I hope things have calmed down for you.  I have considered charting bp over the course of a few days.  I was reading about it, and do have a BP cuff at home.  If you are still having trouble, do check this out as an option.  I think it might show me that my BP reacts sharply to stressors and medications.
