chiropractor?
I was wondering if anyone has used chiropractor to help with post mast pain?
I have exhausted my yearly PT with insurance and frankly local PTs suck. it mainly consists of hour of me doing stretching exercises and less than five of some hands on work with PT.
I just have this nagging tightness in armpit. its not that bad. i should stretch more.
was reading my insurance stuff. and it seems much easier to see chiropractor

I have severe pain from nerve damage when the nerves were knicked during the BMX with sentinel and axiallary lymph node removal. The pain I get from LE makes it worse. Not only do I have swelling, pain from LE, but the nerve damage interprets the pain worse than the LE pain probably is. I have pain that goes from the bottom of my rib cage in the front, sides, and back (but not all the way to the middle of the back), upper arms and armpits.
I had severe back pain last spring, so I went to the chiropractor. It was awful. In order to crack my back, I had to lay face down while he pushed, and what not. The pushing while my chest was on that chiropractor bed was so painful. Then after a few sessions, I would tense up knowing that pain was coming.
So I quit the chiropractor and went to PT for my lower back. I never felt any relief from the chiropractor for the armpit pain.
I am sorry you are having so many pain troubles. I had my surgery 1/11/11 and I still feel tremendous amounts of pain. I take many medications, get IV Lidocaine infusions every 6-9 weeks (I used to get them every month). I was warned by my pain doctor they would start to lose their effectiveness and after almost two years of them, they are not doing as good of job.
He wants me to try the Neurostimulation Pain Therapy where they put leads up my back, connected to a mechanism.I would have a remote control to turn it on and off, and determine the strength. Basically it puts tingles into the spine, so when the outer nerves say there is pain (when there isn't) those pain signals are masked by the tingles.
I also saw a pain psychologist. Best thing ever!!! He taught me a few thigns that really help me deal with the pain.
Have they said what is causing your pain?

no. I havn't really pursued it much. the pain was least of my worries. one doc said it was from the mast. I had modified radical. so I think there was some muscle taken and thats whats casing the tightness. Its not that bad.

fredntan,
I did not have a mastectomy but a lumpectomy and have used a chiropractor for my aches and pain. Especially after my surgery, I felt that the chiropractor really helped with my recovery and my shoulders have a full range of motion. I have also been getting accupuncture on my non-affected side only.

I am confused.Pain is the least of your worries but your first line in your original post asks if anyone used a chirorpractor for post mastectomy pain?

I see a chirpractor but honestly her massage therapist isnamazing and gives me more relief. She is young and a metastatic ovarian cancer survivor. ned 7 years. she has the same problems i have just in her groin area. my point is that she is caring and experienced at theraputic massage. at my last sessions she found an inflamed nerve and helped ease it. it sounds like hoopla but shes wonderful. it would prolly take experimentation to find someone skiled enough to help but thats whatbhas worked te mostbfor me.

i will call around to see if any local chiro can help me. emailed one and he refered me to a breast sx.
cinnamo-being stage three I have focused on treatment and learning to live again. and prevention. this little bit of chronic pain is like a thorn inmy side.
probably wont pursue anything. just so sick of going to doctors.
