how about drinking?

Thanks for reminding me - I need some Jose Cuervo & some mix - I'll add that to the list! Some of those places we're going in Texas are DRY! And I ain't talkin about the weather! Ronda
-
Hi Drinkers - Just wanted to let Janis know, it's 11:45pm (central) still her bday. I got home from work and pourin' a scotch in her honor. I had a glass of wine at work and was going to go to bed, but then I got on the boards and thought..."Oh- a scotch for our birthday girl, of course!"
-
Christine - (took me 3 tries to spell that right) - I'm still here too! I have to wonder how far away in MO are you? Are we close?
And Peggy - I don't want to get maudlin, but while I may try to forget the bc thing for a week, I don't think I'd ever forget the sisters I met here. Y'all are great. Hope ya know that. And I love y'all to pieces! (ok - you can throw up now) Ronda -
Hi Ronda (NO H)-
I am in ol' St. Lou. I live in SW St. Louis City and love it. Ever make it to the big city? -
Been there once - 20 yrs ago almost! Drove past the arch, thought that was too high up for me! Did go to the Anheuser Busch place tho - saw the Clydesdales, drank some beer, had some sauerkraut on a hotdog, walked through Union Station (I think that's what it was called).
We don't do big cities much anymore. We've slowed down alot, even before the bc dx. We do get to Hillsdale SP in Kansas occasionally, not far from Kansas City. How far is that from St Louie? Or what lakes / camping sites are within driving distance of both of us? Most of the MO places I know about are further south. Ronda -
Hey Christine - we come to St. Louis at least once a year. I have some friends there. Maybe next time we're "in the area" we can do lunch. That'd be fun, I think! My friends live in Ferguson? Is that right? Right outside St. Louis...
Ronda - you don't have to think about us once, and I promise we won't get our feelings hurt. We love you to pieces too! Now, go have FUN! Don't eat too many jalepenos on the road...you'll be making many a pit stop if you do! LOL -
Toast to Marla!!! She had her big day Tuesday at 2 p.m.!! I was thinking about you finishing while I was having my tea and cookies during my pedicure!! Raised my tea cup around 2:30!! Woo Hoo ~ that bit is finished.
-
Thanks for remembering me, Sherry! I thought about you too, wondered how that pedi was coming and wishing I was in a chair next to you getting mine done!!! LOL
-
OMG that would have been SO much fun!!! I had a hard time choosing a colour for the toes and then dropped the little card with the painted nails in the foot bath!! No, there was NO alcohol in the tea cup! It was herbal berry tea (I don't think there was soy in it either!! ). So the pedi ended up being Opi "She sells sushi by the seashore" (Opi comes up with the craziest names!). The hands are a french manicure and the 30 min. aromatherapy back massage was BLISS!! She asked if I'd like a scalp massage too (should have said yes, might have promoted hair growth!!), but I said no because I was afraid I'd never want to get up off the table!!
-
Oh- I wrote long post to Ronda and lost it
Ronda- I go to the Lake of the Ozarks, very often. Alot of people from KC go there (Camdenton area) My bros have a house close to the Dam. I have been to Montauk and Bennett Springs State Park for trout fishing. Fun! Been to KC (alot) and only to Overland Park in Kansas (for my bros hockey, yrs ago)
Sherry and Marla - just got my holiday weekend pedi too. Used to be only bright red on toes, but now I am in for the french toes, so I can wear pink or whatever color shoes.
Marla - Ferguson is N. St. Louis county. I know almost every area, but North the least. PM when you come to town. Love to meet up. -
OMG - I just saw there are 136 new posts for me to catch up on over in the Debate forum. Just when I was ready to call it a night. This might call for another drink. LOL
Ronda - Have a great safe trip, I'll be at the "Lake' -
I was going to do the french on the toes too, but my feet were so "wrecked" from the chemo that I thought for the first one post chemo I'd go "pink" and then hope that as my nails change a bit I can do the french. It just looks so clean and so chic! And if I am anything, it is chic!!
-
Sherry, I'd had to take her up on the scalp massage - even BALD! teehee! I LOVE for my mom or my sister to rub my head. Just feels good. When I had hair, I used to LOVE for my sister or mom to brush it, braid it, whatever...I love it! So, I'd probably NOT gotten up off that table, but that would have been her problem, right? LOL!
Christine - I'll have to do that...that'd be nice!
I would love to get a pedi, but after 10 yrs of getting pedi's done, it caught up with me. Last summer, the salon I've gone to for several years did my pedi and the girl clipped my toenail too short on one side- well, my toenail ended up getting infected underneath, after a month of pain, I finally went to the doctor and it turns out that I had gotten a staff infection and he had to take off half of my toenail! OWIE! I went back to the salon to show them (all I wanted was an apology and some sign of good customer service, nothing more), the girl doing my nails went to get the manager and he sent her back with the message "sometimes we make mistakes". What? Then he disappeared until I was gone. I paid $250 to have my freakin toenail removed because of their mistake and not so much as an apology? Whatever! Now I'm mad, right? Well, my attorney said not to do anything until the toenail heals, because I can only make them pay once. Now I'm going after them to pay my doctor bills...I may want to throw in some "pain and suffering" as I haven't been able to get a pedi in almost a year now. Well, wouldn't you know, I've never had flippin toenail fungus? Now I do! That nail grew back 3 times thicker than normal, off color, ICK! I always have had such pretty nails! In the summer I kept them done every 3 weeks with cutsie little designs on my big toes. Well, my onc won't let me have it removed again until treatment is over because of risk of infection - she gave me some cream to put on it to try and kill the fungus, which isn't really working...I'm not too happy about it! I miss my pedis! They are SO relaxing. AND, I have to continue to wait, until my toenail heals to get these people to pay, because I will have more doctor bills from it now. Boo-hiss!
All that said - Sherry, I hope you don't get staff infection or toenail fungus - just a pleasurable experience! Sorry for the ICK-factor!
Marla -
From drinking to locality to nail fungus. I guess they are all related. I too, experienced some nail fungus, on both big toes after chemo (4 x AC only) Now they are back to mormal, one of my best features. Cutest toes, I've been told and some men with cray feet fetishes have come to me because of them - Whatever! I am glad to have nails and hair!
-
I'm glad to know the fungus can "go". I've got that in one nail from chemo ~ just lovely. Hopefully mine will disappear as well. And it sounds like you had quite the time with your salon Marla!! It seems like people don't want to take responsibility for anything anymore. And I checked ... the girl was very thorough about cleaning everything she used ~ thank goodness. Mind you, I would have spoken up if she hadn't.
-
My new salon let's you keep your own "utensils" in a box w/ your name on it.
-
That's what I'm talkin about! I want my own utensils from now on!
-
Hey Marla - just realized your from GA- where? I used to live on Hilton Head Island, 45 mins from Savannah, but would travel thru, vacation in and loved GA, especially the coast.
-
I'm in NW Georgia, 20 minutes south of Chattanooga, TN. Dalton, Ga - the "carpet capital of the world" (yippee skippy!)
-
I've been to Reynold's Plantation, but I think that is NE, GA right? Not familiar w/ Dalton, except for hearing of it. We would drive thru Nashville to get to SC.
-
Never heard of Reynold's Plantation...sorry. We go thru Atlanta to get to SC. Different route.
Well, I really need to hit the sack. My MIL is spending the night and she'll be up bright and early in the AM - well, I should say later today! LOL
Sweet dreams, all!
Marla -
Christine - you had a glass of wine at work? I wanna work where you do!!
I too will be off the boards next week. Leaving Sat 7/1 for Florida and come back the following Sat 7/8. I can't wait! Been WAY too long since I've had any beach time.
BTW - I'm a Show-Me-State girl myself. Born & raised in Joplin in SW MO and lived there until moving to Tulsa in '93.
Cheers everyone!
Donna -
You're so darn cute, Donna. You go and have a great time.
I'm wondering where Christine works also!?
Lini -
I didn't even think twice about writing that. I am a restaurant manager. There is always the post shift drink. Also,we have one group on Tues nights that we do tasting menus for, they bring in their own wines (very rare, hard to find and expensive) These guys are spoiling my taste for grocery store wines, which I usually stock at home.
One of the perks, in exchange for working weekends and lots of hours? -
cheers from bayfield ontario girls......where the sun always sets twice (3 times if you make the cosmos strong enough)...........what a gorgeuos day!
-
Christine,
I kind of figured that it would either be a restaurant, a swanky salon, or something artsy. Nice to have a perk here and there.
Lini -
Hello???????
Is anyone out there? No more sockpuppet fun to be had so let's have some fun here! Or do I have to enjoy my scotch all by myself? -
I'm currently debating with myself. Shall I have a margarita? Or a Vodka with pink grapefruit juice? Or a glass of wine? Or a Bud Light?? Don't know which sounds best. HELP!!!
-
Oh, phew! I thought I was the only drunk on-line tonight! (j/k)
I say, have one of each but you can't start with beer as the saying goes "beer before liquor never been sicker" or something like that! -
Oh, you're a lot of help. Wine it is, goes better with salmon. Also, less filling.
