Herceptin, 1 year ?

Hi my friends!

Today I went for my herceptin infusion like every 3 weeks but at end of my infusion they said okay that is the end !? I was at lost because I always thought September 12 2013 would be my last day. Nurse said no, because I started herceptin in may 2012 with taxol 12 weeks tx, but then begin herceptin by itself in August of 2012. I'm confused ! I thought 1 year herceptin alone not 1 year with taxol/herceptin and herceptin alone ? I'm gonna email my MO tomorrow. The nurse said I should be HAPPY! I do, but I wasn't expected this!

Anyone can tell me how the herceptin tx should be?

Mine was 1 year. I started Feb '11 and ended Feb '12. I had weekly Herceptin while doing TC every 3 weeks. Mine totaled 18 treatments. If you go to the Genetech website it will give you the treatment guidelines. Some girls got 17 weeks and some get 18 weeks. It just depends on the calculation.

It is one year of herceptin whether it is given in combination with another drug or by itself. So the nurse is correct; you have finished tour year of herceptin.

I had 6 TCH treatments and finished that in November. And now herceptin alone for one full year December to December. I thought I would be done in August but not December.

One year of Herceptin typically starts with the first Taxol treatment. Mine did. Congrats on finishing your treatment! Awesome. June 13th is my last. I started Taxol last June.
