I was diagnosed with DCIS 13 years ago, my mother had breast cancer at 55yo, I developed mine at 44 yo.  Every woman on my maternal side, 3 generations back had breast cancer.  I am the first of the 4th generation.  I have 2 girls so I decided to be tested for the brac1 gene. It was negative.  My mother passed away 14 years later with a "second primary" pancreatic cancer. I visited my plastic surgeon {I had both breasts removed with reconstruction with breast expanders} I was told that I am what is called "the hangmans noose" putting me at high risk for pancncreatic cancer.

Is there early screening for this cancer? My mom died 14 years later I am now 13 years post breast cancer.  Is there anything I can do to find if I am at risk other than family history?

From what I understand there are some innovative blood tests now being developed to identify earlier stage pancreatic cancer.  Not sure where science is on those however.

I would say that it was out of line for your plastic surgeon to characterize you as in a "hangman's noose".  That is a dreadful choice of words and moreover, it is outside his area of expertise.  What does he know about the natural science of pancreatic cancer anyway?  How much clinical experience does he have with pancreatic cancer patients?  He spoke out of line, in my opinion.

Did you do both the BRCA and the BART test?  If you didn't do BART, I would go ahead and do that one.
