New Gummy Bear Tear Drop Silicone Impants - anyone have them?

SimplyAudrey, I've read that the oval base high projection Sientra are the closest to mix between round & shaped. Are those the ones you have? 

OK, I get to eat humble pie and tell you all that I have my pre-op appt wth PS tomorrow to discuss how my breast profile will look for the rest of my life. Yes, the Big E will happen in 11 days.  Honestly, I've been pretty chill throughout  this whole story. I think I know what I want, I think my doc is gonna listen, and I look forward to it being over and done with.

Cohesives - Check

Anatomical - Check

Size - hmmm.... I've got all the numbers here somewhere. Low vs med height, med vs high projection, sounds like college calculus to me at this stage of my life.  I've done my homework, now it's time to take the plunge. Please Goddess, let me get this over with so I can move on with the  rest of my life.

Thank you, Sherry. It seems most women that get Sientras are happiest with the oval based, highest projection. I think most of us don't want to scream "boob job" but want to look naturally perky or boobalicious, at least I do

OK Mackman, here's what my DPS said (and he is dear). He thinks that reconstruction patients (vs implants) should have the fuller profile because they are under the pectoral muscle. My width will be about the same as my TE's. The two Natrelle 410s with full projection that are approved by the FDA are mod and high. Since my DCIS was up kind of high, I have a dimple at the upper pole now. He's going to bring sizers in for both mod and full height and decide which one is a better fit. He knows I don't want to wear a bra after this is all said and done. I really trust him, he's excellent. He doesn't want to take any chances that the anatomicals will shift in the first post-up week while they are begining to adhere to the tissue, so I am having drains placed.

Congrats Connie - hope to hear how good it feels. I was supposed to be tomorrow, then pushed back til next Friday, now just tentative because my particular Allergan 410MX are "on hold" by the FDA and can't be ordered.  Just waiting...... Actually I've talked to the FDA and Allergan and I'm hoping to get some kind of info (today, I hope) about how long they will be unavailable. Starting to feel like these chunks of granite are actually part of my body by now.

I don't know Connie - all I know is that the nurse of my PS says that they are about to be approved, which (I guess) means that there is a transition time where they aren't available.  It might mean that they don't want people filling out all the paperwork for a clinical trial when the implants are about to be approved.  I really don't know!  I can't stand it though!

I just had Allergan 410 FF (Full height, Full Projection), 535 ccs  implanted 6 days ago - very happy with the results. I am slender framed on top, 5'6" - I look less "buxom" than I used to with a bra, but I think I purposefully programmed myself with: "I know they won't be perfect" expectations.  I'm just so happy this is over. I had my post-op visit today and cried on the way home: I beat cancer, and I'm done. I'll have another visit in 6 weeks, but basicly, I feel like the worst is over. I think if the MX or FX had been available I might have been fitted with them, but I'm really ok with FF. I haven't worn a bra since mastectomies (except when working out) and I don't think I am going to wear them much in the future. 

I worked as a research Nurse Practitioner until last year. Device trials end when the sponsor  has sufficient data to satisfy FDA regulators that the risks of complications are fully known. It's often a numbers game - you need a certain volume of cases to be "statistically significant," that the probability of complications happening (or not happening) is not affected by chance. The FDA wields a lot of power, but personally, I like it that way. It protects us consumers.

I look forward to having all of you join me on the "squishy" side, so sorry we all had to go through this. I wish we could protect all our future BC sisters from getting this *!@#* disease.

I was just telling my DH about Gummy Bear Implants and wishing they were approved for use in the US as this is what I would choose then lo and behold I stumble upon this thread! I am so happy to hear this news.  Now just waiting for chemo to end and to decide if I'm doing rads or not.  Do I understand that I could have Allergen 410 Tear Drop Gummies and do Rads later without any worry about harm to the implants? Did I read this some where in this thread?

Just swapped out the TEs for Sientra anatomically shaped implants today--so much easier than an MX, I was in surgery at 7:30 and in the car going home by 11. Very little pain and I can already feel the difference from the TEs. My PS had to pull one side down--I had radiation--and the other came up a bit, so I have hopes that they will look even. Now I just have to worry until the irradiated side heals.

I'm more excited than I thought I would be!  All you ladies did so much research, which was so helpful--I read this thread, and asked my PS about the new teardrop-shaped implants, and he said, "Oh yes, I was planning on using them for you," and we talked a little bit and I left the details up to him.  I've had two mastectomies with TEs with him, and he is an excellent, excellent PS who I trust fully, so it's a little easier to do that under those circumstances.  I just looked up what I have on the Sientra site, and I think I have the same ones that Mamatwinz has--they are textured Shaped Round Base High Projection implants--small, only 320 cc. I was small to begin with, and am quite active, so I didn't want to stretch  my chest wall out too, too much.  Course, the down side is that I now have to keep my stomach from pooching out any more than it already is. My only concern right now is whether the incision on the radiated side is going to have problems healing.  The PS is confident that things will be fine, but there is always an increased risk, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Of course, that TE was going to come out one way or another, so this issue would be there regardless....

As far as feeling the cold, which I think Tangles was concerned about, it can't be worse than the TEs! Every time I had a drink of cold water I could feel it going all the way down my chest. Although maybe she was more concerned about feeling the Winter cold, which makes far more sense now that I think about it. D'oh!   

AmyQ--the Rads before or after implants question varies by PS, I think. Mine wanted me to do the rads with a TE in, since sometimes implants get hard after radiation. Others prefer to do the implant surgery before rads, I think because irradiated tisse sometimes has trouble healing? I'm not sure that's the only reason.  

Hildy - Hope you like your sientra's as much as I like mine.  Good thoughts and prayers for you on good healing!

Having the chance afterwards to "play" with both a Sientra and a 410.....I like the sientra feel much better.  And waranteed for life!  Whoot!

Sientra is a smaller company.....and I think their marketing folks missed the boat.
