Any Hummingbird Watchers Out There?

I would like to start a Bird Watchers Club thread here. I have searched and only found this Humming Bird thread.
I hope I didn't miss it somewhere

I don't think we will have any hummers in central WI for awhile. We still have several feet of snow. Last year it was in the 70s this time of year, but then got cold, then warm. We are just starting to get in the mid 30s for temps. I heard that Robins were spotted in southern WI.

The Bird Watching Club is here.

Hey y'all,
I put out 1 hummingbird feeder about 10 days ago, after it had been out for 3 days, I saw my first for this year! We now have 3 and I'm going to hang more feeders.
Last year I think I had about 5 feeders out and the 2 by our back deck had hummers swarming like flies, lol.
They would be trying to eat as I was taking them down to refill. I just love those little hummers.
We also have lots of bluebirds as well as blue jays, cardinals, tit mouse, hooded chickadees, woodpeckers of all kinds and many other birds.
I have 2 outside cats (were feral now sissies) and even when the birds come to the cat food bowl, they just look and don't even bother to move, lol.
I'm looking forward to seeing more hummers soon.
-
Filter lady, I envy you. They haven't made it to our area yet.
-
My first Black chins have arrived. Saw them all this weekend.
-
Oh, yay, Chickadee! Maybe I will see them soon, then, too. My three feeders are lonely. Haven't see my orioles yet, either.
-
Saw my first hummingbird of the season this morning! Also a black chin. Had just received an email this morning, too, from our wild bird store letting us know that they, orioles, tanagers, and western kingbirds would be showing up in the next two weeks. Haven't seen it reappear but it stopped for a nice long drink and hung out in my rose bushes for a bit. Have three feeders out and put fresh nectar in yesterday so am hoping he'll be back soon. Yay...now I feel like spring has really sprung!!
-
The cam is great!!! Very clear, great views!!
Unfortuneately I live in central WI and instead of being in the mid 50s this time of year, which are the norms, we are hovering around the lower 30s during the day, and STILL getting snow.
So I can't put out any hummer food yet.
I think even the few Robins that are around are sorry that they came back already.

We have hummingbirds year round.:-)I have an Annas hummer that stays in my yard. He has a sentinel post on the tree across from my kitchen window.
-
Here he is
-
This little hummer was hiding in the hibiscus
-
Actually you can see the colors better for the Anna's here, but not a good picture
-
I know there is a nest somewhere near my home office window..but I can't seem to see it..
-
now this was at the zoo...
-
this is one of the Anna's hummingbirds that like our place

Nancynow, So neat to see someone else who has been to beautiful Phoebe's!
I found her nest a few months ago when she had Pip and Fleur! She gained the orphaned one...did you see that? All went well, and they fledged.
I've seen her new nest. But because of new dx and all the garb that is going with it, I haven't much time there. Phoebe is one of THE most beautiful lil hummies ever!
Don't know if you use a different screenname there, but if I see you, I'll be sure to say "hello!"
My hummers just came in this week! I adore them SO much! *(Rubies are the ones here)
Also, SoCalLisa- LOVE the pics of the hummers!!
Have a great day ladies!
-
I had not been on Phoebe's in about 1.5 weeks. My gosh how big they've gotten. Look like birds not just damp lumps. Love whoever posted this. What happens after these fledge? Is there a new batch brewing in mama?

Hello all--I'm new to hummingbirds and need some advice. I know there are at least 3 hummers on the property. My landlady has a feeder out and we saw a male dive-bomb two others away from it. So she lent me a feeder to hang in front of my place, which is on the other side of the the main house from where her feeder is. We figure that the territorial male cannot guard both feeders at the same time. But so far, I have not had any action at all at my feeder. I made the nectar in the 1:4 proportions, and there are all kinds of flowers in bloom right now, azaleas, rhodies, camellias, and others that I don't know the names of. Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

sometimes they just need to find it snorkler...
-
Hi all!
SoCalLisa, you are quite the photographer! Great captures! TY so much for these! They make my day!
Hope all of you lovelies are faring well! Luvmy, good to see you! Maybe I'll see you at Phoebe's nest too!
I think she may have another clutch this year! She is a busy lil thing...and so beautiful! HAGD!
-
SoCalLisa--You were right! The sugar water level has been going down, but it wasn't until today that I saw two hummingbirds feeding. One was dark with a green throat, and the other one was fawn-colored. It was such a thrill!

Strange hummer year here. After only having one a day for the past month, yesterday the masses arrived. There are now more than a dozen swarming around two feeders. Finally, spring!
-
It was a happy day in central Ohio yesterday....saw my first hummer...finally! Life's been a little rough lately and I really needed to see that little guy. So much joy and wonder wrapped up in a teeny tiny bird. Wishing all the moms out there a Happy Mothers Day and a good day to all!
-
What is it about those little jewels that brings such happiness? I was feeling kind of blue yesterday, missing my mom, who died two years ago and bemoaning our lack of hummingbirds this year. I started to take a feeder down to change the solution when a beautiful male flew up and perched on the feeder while it was in my hand. He calmly looked at me and proceeded to drink for the longest time. Instantly lifted my spirits!
-
Wow! What an experience!
So far no hummers here on eastern Long Island. I think I will go change the solution in my feeder to see if I get lucky too!
-
Just spotted my first hummer! A little male Rubythroat. Now, I know summer is here.

Spent the pm glued to Phoebe's hummingbird. Last bird fledged and I saw it happen. Too cute. Now to proceed to undone chores.
