I just had a biopsy on calcification (about 10 spots the size of sand) close to the nipple done on Thurs.  The first two times they tried they didn't get any samples... finally after the 3rd time they got some.  Really bruised all over because they came from the bottom AND top.  but not hurting and haven't had to take anything for pain.  But today I feel an uncomfortable line going from the outside of the bruise up to my underarm.  I thought it may have been the exercise bra I was wearing day and night for the last 3 days so am going bra-less today to see if any improvement.  Don't understand why it would NOT hurt in the area of the biopsy but hurt way up where the procedure didn't even go.  BTW I had the vaccum one rather than the needle.  Hoping it's gone tomorrow.

    Hi

I've just been diagnosed with a 16mm grade 1 IDC and am having a partial mast on 22 Nov. they will also do a snb and I'm a bit concerned because the node showed some slight inflammation on the MRI which was 3 days post biopsy. Surgeon said this is most likely due to the biopsy recovery process. I hope that helps someone. I'm hoping my nodes are clear, I'm only 34 and a week ago I was happy and healthy!

Just an update, the inflammation shown in one node on the MRI was not cancer! The surgeon took out 3 nodes from a SNB then he could feel a 4th which he also removed. They all tested negative, what a relief!

I just had a core biopsy on my right breast nodule, and while the surgeon was doing that, he decided to do a lymph node core biopsy.....That was Friday am...Its now Monday, and I'm still feeling quite sore, and have a pain down my right arm, and alot of warmth around the breast (lots of bruising now) and under the armpit.  No bruising under the arm from what I can see...just a little lump and 2 incision scabs....It's the nagging pain, including the shoulder pain that is more annoying.

I get my results on Wed afternoon...I can't wait till this journey is over...or maybe it's just begun.  Will keep you all posted.  Joanne Undecided

Thought I better update this now, on final pathology the first node had a .6mm micromet tumor in it. I don't think that justifies the 1cm increase in size o. The MRI though, it's less than a mm, I believe the MRI was detecting inflammation from the three punch biopsies.

Lymph nodes are little filters.... so after the biopsy ... all the fluids from swelling and damaged tissue and white blood cells fighting infection and  all kinds of  other junk/and lymph are filtered thru them ..... my only fear was that during biopsy a few cells were "loosened" from the mass and may or may not filter on down thru those lymph nodes... and that is a factor to be questioned

I had a stereotactic biopsy as well and it was the most painful traumatic experience ever! That machine is torture and who ever invented it needs to go through the procedure to experience the hell many of us do! Ok, rant over, lol.Thank God it was negative!

I had it done in April 2015 and have had lots of pain in the area know as armpit fat. The pain is so bad sometimes, it travels down the arm and radiates to the back and chest. I did tell the surgeon about it and he insisted that it was because of my fibrous breasts. I told him I did not have this pain before the biopsy and he kept insisting it was normal. I was so frustrated! I told him, "so basically you are telling me I have to put up with this pain?" and all he kept saying is, "Well.....this and that, blah, blah"

It is not normal and I am so miserable because of this pain. I've been reading a lot, and I found that they can sometimes mess up your nodes and this may be the cause of the pain. I have an appointment with my general doctor and I am hoping she will be able to help me or at least direct me to a doctor who can help me.

Hi SnoopyFan, and welcome to Breastcancer.org! We're sorry for what you're going through, but we're glad that you joined us!

This thread where you'd posted in has been quiet for a while so it's unlikely that you'll get any feedback from the participants on it. If you want you can start your own thread to share your particular situation. The forum Pain could be a good place for that if you've been diagnosed.

We hope this helps. Let us know how the appointment with your doctor goes.

    Best wishes,

thanks for posting this. I had 2 core biopsies 5 days ago. One of the sites was very deep in my breast and well into the underarm area. For the first couple of days there was no pan at all, just some minor bruising. Then I started experiencing "cramp" like pain throughout my whole Breast and sensitivity to pressure. Today even my arm is sore. Other than the pain everything seems fine. I'm glad to know that others have had similar experiences.

ElizabethAnne -- welcome. We're sorry you experienced this uncomfortable side effect of your biopsy. Have you spoken to your doctor about your pain? Have you received your biopsy results?

We're thinking of you! Keep us posted...
