HI, I had shingles, they appeared after a bout of flu. I was placed immediately on the herpes medication, Acyclovir for 14 days and a steroid.  It helped immensly with the pain.

Good luck, if you're not on a steroid or Acyclovir, I'd check with your doctor. Those are the best treatments according to my doc.

Good luck, the pain is awful coupled with blisters. Mine were across my back/shoulder area.  I still have tingling there to this day though the pain subsided.

Hi! I had shingles too, it appeared after I had an allergic reaction to some medication. I got it just in my arm, but the pain was extremely intense and the rash very unpleasant. My doctor gave me the same - acyclovir; it went away after about 18-20 days, but I do get the odd flare up. Hope you feel better soon!

As soon as I recovered frm chemotherapy, I was told to wait about 6 months - my docs said to be sure & get the shingles vaccine.  I was 62 at the time.  Don't know what the age is now when insurance covers it, but if you'd had bc and had CHICKEN POX when you were a child - ask your doc about getting the Shingles vaccine.

yeap, I got shingles about 6 months after I finished rads....and 2 months after my 62 birthday when insurance would have covered it.  I was only waiting on my next doc appt to get the ok for the vaccine.

if you get shingles, you can still or should get the vaccine after all is clear

I have now gotten the vaccine as I do not want a repeat

rads and all we go through, mean we are weakened and more prone to this junk

my brother had shingles while he was fighting hodgkins so it is not uncommon~~
