Does anyone know the best way to figure out Disability insurance?

I am having a masectomy with expanders in at the same time.  I dont know if I take the 6 weeks of disability off and then refile when I have the implants in or do I take the whole time from start to finish off?

I live in Ca if that matters.

    Erin I am going back to work from short term disability on the 12th. I called when I was worried I wouldn't be able to work thru chemo. The ins co said I could go back to work and reopen the claim within90 days if necessary with no new waiting period. I am sure each co has own policy and they should be able to walk you thru it

    Was this State Disability you reopened?

    My company doesnt offer STD so I have to go through the State of Ca

    No it was company sponsored. I was lucky didn't know I had it til I needed it. Perhaps bs and Ps have some insight about the short term disability.
