What???!!! No Treatment????

I have triple negative metaplastic breast cancer.  It is rare and aggressive.  I was DX last June, had BMX in July, followed by dose dense chemo and then 28 radiation treatments.  I have been out of treatment since February 18.  4 lung nodules were found accidentally a couple of weeks ago, I have no symptoms.  My onc is telling me that she recommends doing nothing, because I have no symptoms.  She said why use the chemo now that we could be using later?  My thoughts are the cancer could travel to other places if we let it sit.  I contacted Cancer Treatment Centers of America but they don't take my insurance.  Is this a common course of action, doing nothing?  Thanks for any input.

mom22ja ~ Does your onc specialize (e.g. do research, etc.) with TNBC?  If not I'd think a second opinion with someone like that would be a good idea.  Places like MDAnderson and others are known to be especially aggressive re. treating TNBC.

If the integrative route appeals to you (as it does to me), how about The Block Center in IL?  I believe they're ranked #2 in the world for integrative care (after a facility in Germany), and I just read a piece this a.m. (on their FB page) about their success with metastatic bc, although I would probably still want input from a top TNBC expert.  http://www.blockmd.com/

The Block Institute is integrative, but I think what they do is better covered by insurances than CTCA.    (((Hugs)))   Deanna
