Lupron Injections

Good grief!  Why insurance doesn't cover this is beyond me.  UHC told me the Dr can appeal it, based on case circumstances.  Seriously?  I want to undergo an expensive injection on the chance it might get approved on appeal?

I mean, we're not using it for Fertility treatment as it can be used.  I'm using it because I can't take Tamoxifen and was on the line of being menopausal so have to taken an AI instead.  Tests for several years said I am but the body wasn't recognizing that, still having cycles every few months for the past several years.

I know all UHC policies are different but mine covered Lupron. There are different levels of appeal I have learned. One is pretty simple and your doc does all the paperwork filing. Took 48 hrs for approval. Sorry you are having to battle. I empathize.

Thanks.  I'm planning ahead for the next one.  Recently started seeing an Oncologist outside of the VA system.  It was a great surprise to hear about this.  I'm used to it just being done by the VA, regardless whether or not my insurance pays some thing.

I have UHC and I've been on Lupron for 2 years.  It was never refused.

Interesting, very.  It may well be the difference in plans, etc.  I'll ask Onc's office how they handle that.
