My TE was placed during mx and only then was it determined I needed rads because the tumors were so close to the skin.  I had the expansion done before rads (I still had drains in when I started, too) and then had 28 sessions of radiation with only minor redness the last week.  My PS would prefer to wait at least 6 months for exchange, but has agreed to do it the end of June (just under 4 months) for insurance reasons since everything looks good.  She did say that the reason for waiting is that the irradiated muscles and scar tissue can continue to contract for months after radiation stops and that could mess up the result.  She recommended yoga and other stretching exercises to maintain flexibility in the tissues and said it would also help that I'm willing to go a bit smaller.  I'll certainly be glad to be more balanced once my right breast is reduced and lifted to match.  Right now I hike up my droopy DD right side and use a fiberfill form to fill out the bottom of the left side with the TE.
