Once radiation is started

Options

This may be an odd question but what happens if you only have a couple treatments of radiation and have to stop for some reason.

neve heard of that, why do you feel you want to stop?

it really was not bad and for me,one more way to be sure the nasty do not return

I had 12 of the planned 28! Rads were doing my head and health in, and I had found out that having had a number of chest xrays as a kid had likely CAUSED my breast cancer.

RO said (after she got over the shock of me quitting) that if I ever had a local recurrance I could likely have rads at that point if I wanted.

I told her the only time I will have rads will be if I'm metastatic and need them as palliative treatment.

Then I went and had a BMX.

oh no sorry, i didnt mean to imply i started and wanted to stop.  I just was wondering what happens when such a situation occurs. I have some concerns with lupus indicators that show up in my bloodwork but i was checked by two rheumotologists and both have OK'd me for radiation.  People with lupus have very high sun sensitivies and are not good candidates for radiation. I dont have lupus but since my bloodwork is alittle wonky in general, i was just curious if i started rads and then started having issues, it would be stopped, i was told, but wondered what are the consequences of getting a couple treatments. Obviously the prevenative effect of radiation would be decreased but is there some sort of additional negative in not getting the full course?

There were no negatives for me. I had started getting the pneumonitis back that I had during chemo. When I stopped rads it went away quickly. My energy also came back quickly.

No some rads might be better than none but think you need to speak to your lupus doctor?
