Hi Ladies

I know there are other threads about mammos, but  you are " my people' so I wanted to post here.

Had first follow up  1 yr mammo yesterday. All seemed to go okay as far as the LE goes, thanks to some great advice  here .  I happened to be at my GYN today and it is the 1 yr anniversary of my LX.  I asked if he could get my  mammo report faxed to him.  He did and said it was normal.  YAY!!  BUT THEN...I asked for a copy:

The left breast seems  cancer free.

The good breast has a 4 mm circumscribed focal assymetric  density.  This does not give me the sigh of relief I had hoped for .  They pretty much are saying not to worry as it was there in  2011 and 2012 ( hello ???)  Am I being silly ?

I dont know.  I will say I am seriously thinking of taking DIM ( no arimidex/ bad bones )

Any thoughts ?

I see my BS on May 10th and if she asks for a biopsy I plan to refuse.

thx

Huggs Purple. Can I ask what is DIM? Ive seen it somewhere ages ago, I think on the Alternative board, but Im in the "asking what acronyms mean" mode.

Im not sure what "circumscribed focal assymetric density" would be on the scale for anxiety level, but youre allowed to feel anxious anyway. Afterall we all do our best to cope with this monster and sometimes we can smile and sometimes not. When we can't then others of us are here to help. Hopefully someone will chime in who knows about this, but hang in there.

    Hi Musical

    Thanks for replying

DIM is the acronymn for Diindolylmethane.  I looked into it extensively when I was deciding on arimidex. It is an alternative that is puported to have  a similar impact as an Al.  It is being studied in clinical trials .  I am highly ER PR positive, but I opted out of the Als because I have broken 3 bones and my last DEXA has me very close to osteoporosis.

I would have hopped on the DIM in no time , but I spoke to my endo dr. ( I have  a multiniodular  goiter ) after I read it was " goiterous" meaning it can cause a goiter to enlarge more/grow.  She said it was possible it might iNCR+ my risk of thyroid cancer ( grrrrr!) DIM is akin to broccoli, cruciferous veggies... but in a MUCH MUCH higher amt that anyone would want to consume thru food.

I opted out of that because of the goiter/thyroid risks.

Opted out of radiation because of my lung disease.

Feel like I am running out of " OPTions".

Oh Purple Im sorry, believe me I am, to hear of these multi issues with you, which many many of us have to one degree or another. It can really throw a spanner in the works with treatments.

I know a lot of issues are minor and can be worked around but you've listed some heavy dudes there. I think LE is a major and I can completely understand those who say it's worse than having BC. Well, as long as the beast doesnt come back, I totally agree 10000000%  A major for me, is PN (Peripheral neuropathy) It is the pits.

    Thankyou for the info.
