I will start chemo soon and I am petrified for losing my eyebrows? is there such a thing as an
eyebrow wig? anybody used it? where do you find it?
thank you!

I did see some stick on eyebrows, but the reviews didn't sound like they worked all that well. What I did was make sure I got a wig with long bangs. They cover my missing brows well.
Here is one of the sites for the false brows.

My eyebrows thinned a bit. If possible, go to a Look Good Feel Better (LGFB)program -- Hans, the cosmotologist showed us a trick with mascara wand to make the most of the eyeborw that was left -- use a tissue to wipe off most of the mascara and then lightly comb it through the remaining eye brow hair, I found it best to use the brownish mascara with my coloring.
I saw ads for the stick on brows, but they looked kind of funny. At LGFB, I got a bag of cosmetics and lots of tips about dealing with hair loss and other appearance tips. Plus we all had a really good time.
All in all the hair loss wasn't as bad as I imagined. At least it's temporary -- at work I got teased about becoming a fashionista with my turbans. Summer in DC seemed way too warm for a wig.
Good luck

Oh the eyebrows and eyelashes! I think that was the worst part! They usually only fall out if you have taxol or taxane and they thin rather slowly.
My wig store sold me a kit with stencils and powder called the Christian Eyebrow Makeup Kit. It comes in all colours. Since your eyebrows fall out slowly and usually not completely you get kind of used to drawing in where the hair is and don't even really need the stencil. I'm sure they sell similar products at Sephora.

yeah - i didn't want to lose my eyebrows either - even said so to the doc - i said - i don't want to lose my eyebrows. he just nodded, as if he had heard that one before. for some reason, that felt much more important than my head hair. but, they go last... and by the time they go (if they go - some people don't lose them), you kind of get used to it, as strange as that sounds.
some people draw them on - if you do this, please do it lightly... asking someone who actually does make-up professionally is a good idea. and i think less is more... a barely noticeable penciling of eyebrows gives the hint of eyebrows, and people's brains do the rest. but darkly drawn eyebrows always look kind of ... strange... anyway, some people get temporary tattoo eyebrows, which i considered but never actually did. some people just sigh and deal, which is what i did.
as it turned out, i missed my hose hairs more because as soon as my nose so much as had an inkling of moisture, i had toddler-style dribble. no delay time at all! those rarely noticeable hairs turned out to be a bigger bummer upon loss than the eyebrows. and, i missed my eyelashes terribly as my eyeballs didn't have any protection from wind nor sleet nor rain... unless i wore glasses... which was fine except when they got fogged up.
dunno if that helps. i can promise that it's not as bad as you think it will be. it's a drag.. and i didn't like the way my face looked without eyebrows. but, they also started growing back pretty quickly, and as soon as there was a hint of eyebrows, it was like magic - my face became recognizable to me again. if you do decide to pencil.. i guess i have one more suggestion. take a picture NOW so that you can get the shape just right....
good luck.

I agree! The nose hairs. I never knew how much I like them, till they were gone.
And I didn't lose my brows with the first 3 chemos, the taxotere did them in. So if you are not doing one of the Tax chemos, you might not have to worry about it at all.

I actually posted about this last week in the April chemo discussion board...I went to a meetup group for young cancer survivors and one gal told me about this Brian Joseph's brow and lash gel: http://brianjosephs.com/html/lash_brow_conditioning_gel.html
She used it and her lashes and eyebrows had stayed through her whole treatment. So I bought it and have been using it, too, since it arrived on Monday (my first chemo was this past Thursday). It's all natural and not tested on animals (which is very important to me).
But if all else fails, you can always use makeup and false lashes to feel beautiful...

I have to recommend this gorgeous girl for eye makeup tips ..... Now if I could just look HALF as lovely as she, I'd be happy!

my eyebrows and eyelashes actually fell the week or so after I completed chemo, so strange but common from what I've read. I just filled it in with eyebrow pencil, no one could tell.

I just had my 4th treatment of TC and the eyebrows are getting really thin. The ends where they taper of just end now...no more tapering. I've had to start filling them in this week. I'm going out this weekend to scout for supplies so I will be prepared now that they are obviously not going to hang around.
The link for eyelineher's blog is great! I watched it last night and would highly recommend it as a must see.
I do miss the nose hairs especially now that we are in the height of allergy season. Without warning, the snot just comes dripping out of the nose. So embarrassing, especially at work when you're trying to keep it all together and seem half way professional.
It is kind of sad, but its true by the time you get to the point where they are falling out, I think you have become desensitized to it all and it isn't as big if a deal as you would think. -
I am two yrs post chemo n my brows never came back other than a few strands here n there. I had a horrible time coping with the loss. I did a lot of research and discovered this lady www.permanentmakeupbymary.com. I highly recommend to at least check out her site and photo gallery of before after pics. She has worked with alot of clients who suffer from alopecia and she is amazing. Basically its semi permanent makeup tattoo. The technique is called hairstroke. She makes it look like real hairs rather than the old school drawn on sharpie look. And no it doesn't turn green and did not hurt. Also I like to touch mine up with a little makeup for more enhanced look (msg me if you want tips). Having cancer sucks and the worst part is adjusting after treatment. This has helped me alot with my body image and self esteem. Good luck ladies.

My eyebrows and eyelashes came out the first time around when I had chemo. I penciled my eyebrows in so they looked half decent.
This time with my 2nd diagnosis (I start chemo again on Tuesday) I have bought an eyebrow stencil kit. It has a stencil for fine, medium and thick eyebrows...looks very realistic.
I saw that you can buy the stick on natural looking eyebrows but with my luck they would probably fall off and I wouldnt notice.LOL
