I've been following the proton therapy debate and this is the first time I've seen it advertised for use in breast cancer.  It will be very interesting to see how this technology unfolds as it is vastly more expensive than traditional radiation therapy and, as far as I'm aware, there are precious few examples where it is more effective or safer than conventional treatment.  Thanks for posting this.

My husband had stage 4 colon cancer in 2009 and is doing great.

He had protons at MGH in Boston.  It was a breeeeeeeeze.  He was on a  chemo  pk at the time, and we spent 2 weeks at the Hope Lodge in Jamaica Plains, Boston, while he had the protons daily. It was like a mini vaca!  We walked the streets and went places daily, visited the aquarium , ate out, etc .... The proton center is very cool.

Btw, he had already had " regular" (PHOTON) rads here at home, but to the max limit. He was scheduled to have proton rads at surgery , but they could not get the ' wand" in so they followed up with the tx because they said they didnt get it all.

Today, he works 7 days a week and feels great after ileostomy reversal.

    knock on wood of course.
