Shadow on lung

Options

After weeks of not being able to breathe and being wheezy on one side i had chest x ray - there is a black area in centre of the affected lung and a shadow over at least one third of it, no doctors appt for a week but i can see the difference between the sides very easily........its on the side not affected by bc the bc side is fine..... How worried should i be?

    Hi Lily,

Try not to worry until the doctor has a chance to read the film (I know that is easier said than done). Hopefully it will be something benign.  I think waiting is so hard...waiting a week will feel like an eternity, any chance you can get your appointment sooner?  Good luck!

Lily, your lungs on xray look dark......the light sections usually denote infection.

THank you there are several whhite spots and a lot of white cloudiness including around the edge and bottom of the lung, I think pleural effusion is more likely.......but the darker white spots are worrying but they are all in the white bit......

I hate waiting...............and my dear other half looked at the film and said "you´d better get your Will done" then tried to pretend its a joke..................Cry

Can you get a copy of the radiology report and/or ask for your doctor to call you?

I wish, the way it works here is Doctor sends you for X-ray, you get it done, collect the X-ray then take it back to the doctor, he is away until Friday........this is just from my normal doctor not Oncology, there is a 6 month wait for appointments there.,.......or there was last time I needed one, and I cannot change doctors as it does not work like that here........you have the one you have and cannot choose

Dear lily, I'm so sorry to read you may need to wait that long. That sounds terrible. If your primary doctor requests can they get you bumped up sooner.? Praying everything is fine for you.

Is there another doctor at the practice you could see if your regular doctor is away?

    Are your symptoms improving?
