A clue about why aspirin is helpful to cancer patients?

So far treatment is chemo, surgery, radiation and hormone therapy. It has not changed much in past 20 years as my husband said whose mother was died from breast cancer 20 years ago. I am amazed how much money flows in the name of cancer research but seems not improvement in dianosis, treatment and prognosis.
You have to fight with insurance company to do every test and treatment. Hope some thing better comes soon.

The theory is that aspirin inhibits the inflammatory process in the body that contributes to these cancers. I've read enough articles on the subject that have convinced me to take a baby aspirin. However, I've always been an easy bruiser, so I only take one every other day. Also, aspirin supposedly helps prevent heart disease by the same mechanism. Sometimes, there's so much information out there to sift through, and some of it is anecdotal, that it is hard to know if we are doing the right thing. I don't take any other supplements-just a baby aspirin and a vitamin.

I am on the baby Aspirin train too. There are a lot of studies that hint at a benefit for prostate cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer. I do believe it has something to do with the anti-inflammatory effect, but is not completely caused by this because other NSAIDs don't have the same effect. When you really think of it though, all the things that seem correlated with recurrence risk are related to inflammation - obseity, exercise, diet, blood sugar, stress, sleep, etc.
It is so sad that in the last 30 years all we have done with all that money is improve on current treatments. They need to start exploring other avenues. We've knocked on the current doors for too long!

Does anyone know the recommended frequency for aspirin? I was taking it everyday, but recently heard that 3-4 times per week is better.

Hi all. I have read that a low dose, 81mg, is good about 3-4 times a week, studies showed that taking one everyday didnt give you the benefit as taking one every other or only 3-4 times a week.

Hi,
I take an 81mg everyday. I haven't seen in the Nurses Study where it says that it more beneficial to take it 3-4 days versus everyday. Could someone share that link?
Thanks!

You can see that the hazard ratio for 2-5 times a week, adjusted, is 0.4, while for 6-7 times it is 0.57 and for once it is 0.91. There is definitely still a benefit for other frequencies, it is just best in the middle. They also don't know what dosage the women were taking. It's just preumed to be low dose.
