Yes, Chris, I am a geologist and #1 defender of rocks!  Glad you find them useful.  We have no real (attached) rocks on L.I....only some that were dropped here from CT.

Sheila, it was a great day.  We did meet up in NYC as planned.  Granny was not feeling up to coming and we missed her terribly...there were four of us.  We ate and talked and ate some more and had tapas and cheesecake...and then we walked around outside for awhile...totally enjoyable and worth the trip.  I'm up for a tri-state or New England meet-up next.

Meece, you are describing my yard...not sure we planted the trees and shrubs in the right place and I envision trying to move these big boys around in a year or two.  Right now, I just want to get rid of the d-i-r-t.  I have 12 boxwoods in containers to plant and not sure where to put them.  That' tomorrow's task.

    nite all

Sheila, I am glad you are having a good brain shift!  (good way to put it)

I was so tired today and not sure why...I guess I need down time after a busy day.
So all the things I was supposed to do today I had to put off for tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good week end.

We stayed home this weekend which is rare but I wanted to get some projects going, one being planting all our outdoor pots and planters.  DH feels that since we are gone so much in summer that we should only have plants that are part of the watering system but I have so many other pots from my old house and want to use them.  His solution, which he finds brilliant and I am struggling with is for me to plant artificial materials!!!  I can't believe he is serious - he is the original all natural Maine boy.

More surgery in my mouth on Monday......ugh.  But hopefully well enough to get on the plane on May 4 to Shelby.  She loves our golden, Cooper but calls him Poocker.  Her mom was unable to leave a store the other day without a purchasing a stuffed golden who she seems to be carrying around constantly while saying his name.  Funny what little ones remember.

Very happy you all got to visit together and hope I get the opportunity some day soon.

Diane, so sweet that Shelby has memories of your Cooper.  So glad you are getting to go back again...
LOL on the faux plants...at least there's no risk of them wilting while you are away...

It was nice to meet up...and to get to know each other face to face...but as Sheila said, I feel I know the sisters here.

Watching a late movie; have to see the end.

PT, Shiela, Linda, Chris and Joan (((((((HUGS)))))))

Well, it was the 3rd week again and was down until this morning....just kept telling myself it would be ok....I know now I need to stay somewhere where someone will make sure that I eat and drink and I probably need fluids the next day or so after chemo, but just that week.....also the friggin fingernails that are discolored, one of them apparently has some sort of fungus whatever......feeling better now, looking forward to going down the shore....

    Miss talking to you all!!

Sheila - the infection got to the bone and they need to get in there and scrape it again.  It's gonna suck.  The infection also impacted the root adjacent to the implant so they have to get in there and mess around too.  This is a bone issue as a result of the nasty pills.  I'll be fine :)

Sandy - wouldn't it be fun to go for a manicure and act surprised about the fungus :)

I hope they can take care of the infection for good, Diane.

Glad you are feeling better, Sandy - sorry about the nail(s).

Joan, do you watch Big Bang Theory?  If so, I hope you don't take too much offense at Sheldon's lack of respect for Geology...

Glad you had a nice time at the gathering, Sheila.

Maybe we could all get together under my rock...  which I REALLY need to stay under after today.

My incompetence story of the day for today is...

omg- TODAY - I took my church friends to church and then after church went to Wendy's for lunch with my family and my in-laws.   (healthy, I know - not my idea)  So...."D"H and DS had to leave to go to a Scout thing so I had to take my in-laws home. Well, the line for the drive thru was very long - blocking the door to the restaurant.  i wanted to drive as close to the door as I could since FIL has a cane and MIL has a walker.  So I backed my car up alongside the line of cars for the drivethru.  I stopped and then decided to back up a little more so MIL would walk in front of my car instead of in back - after having to walk through the line of cars for the drive thru.  I was looking at MIL and not in back of me to see that I was backed up as far as i could go before hitting a parked car.  So...I backed into the parked car.  A corvette on top of everything.  F*ck.  I only bumped it since i wasn't far away from it to begin with.  So - since I was already blocking traffic trying to take my elderly inlaws home - I put them inthe car - quickly put the walker in the trunk and asked DD to stay and keep an eye out for the owners of the car to tell them I would be back while I took my inlaws home and then came back.  They were still there when I got back.  So - I saw them come out and ran over to their car.  there wasn't a dent - but there was a mark - it was black - so I wasn't sure if it was tar from the road or was from my car since my car is gray.  Later I noticed a scratch on my car - so I guess it was paint from my car - black under the gray...the guy was annoyed at first at the thought I had damaged his car, but when he saw there was only that black mark he thought would come off and no real damage, he didn't even take my info.  Not sure if I should consider that whole thing lucky or not.  Not lucky since it happened at all - but lucky that it wasn't bad?  A guy at church gave me a guardian angel coin during the passing of the peace (he seems to really appreciate that I take that couple to church each week).  Think that coin helped my screw up be less severe than it otherwise could have been?  I had considered going around the building and back in from the street - (I still would have had to stop and block traffic next to the drive thru line - it really was a dangerous traffic situation...) I knew I shouldn't have tried to drive backwards...duh.  Now I'm afraid to drive forwards too.   I need to stay under my rock.   :(

Hi Chris, we are still up....what's that about?  I have to get up in 5.5 hours...
OMG your story is not believable!  Your attention to detail, however, has me convinced that this dark comedy of errors did occur.  I feel your stress as you took on responsibility for your in-laws and fought the traffic jam and then felt responsible for the car you bumped, ANd for getting the in-laws delivered safely...why oh why do we do these things?  I have done this scenario so many times....only it was DH who usually backed up into cars or hit a deer etc. etc.
I am glad that i behind you and that all is resolved.  Guardian angel?  You betcha!
Maybe that rock is a good place on days like this...
Yes, I've watched Big Bang....it's ridiculous...my colleague who teaches astronomy loves the show and I tolerate!!  But it is popular culture and I have to be up on all that so i can be less of a dinosaur among 18-20 year olds all day.  LOL
Sandy, have a good trip and hope you feel like dancin'!  A change of scenery is the best!
Diane, I hope you will be taking the knock-out drugs for that surgery.  No way would I be able to tolerate that...good luck and hope and pray for no complications.  Shelby is waiting for you....
Sheila...keep thinking those beautiful thoughts...you will get there someday soon!

Thinking of everyone and now I have to stop TOL...

DH and I enjoy Big Bang.  Why?  I have no idea.  I was amazed that everyone on the show except for Penny is in their 30s and 40s.

Glad there was no damage, Chris.

So, Happy that you NY ladies were able to get together.

Sandy, you need someone to look after you.  You are just wearing yourself out!

Joan - Ah- so you are offended by Sheldon.  Sorry about that.  I like the show.  So, does your astronomy friend prefer his/her space stringy or loopy?  Don't know if you remember the episode where Leslie Winkle was upset that Leonard preferred his space stringy, not loopy.  "How would we raise the children?"  Sorry - my family loves Big Bang.  DD practically has the shows memorized.  I always ask her how she can memorize shows and movies and can't use that skill to learn all the stuff she's supposed to be learning in school...

Meece- I know  it is amazing how young they all look.

That is funny, Chris.  Saturday we were traveling with a few friends and when we passed by a reservoir one of them started spouting all sorts of statistics about that reservoir (acre ft, depth, etc)  His companion turned and looked at him and asked how he could remember all of that and yet not be able to remember to turn her pump house light off.  We all went into fits of laughter.  Priorities!

I'm back.....no surgery today.  Too many surgeons and dentists involved and they don't agree on what is needed.  But hey, no problem for me to drop $300 here, $300 there, pay for parking and tolls, lose hours of time and still no resolution.  ARGH!  Meanwhile, at least I don't have to plan on broth or cream of rice tonight.

(((Diane))) I hate when that happens...you are geared up and resigned and then...nada.  Good luck with the plan.  And I hope it's soon...you've got places to go!

Chris, I'm not offended...I just don't watch enough.  I think I should take in some re-runs though...I gotta know this stuff.  Thanks for the stringy/loopy refresher.  I can see why people are hooked...esp. astronomy geeks.

Am at work and drowning in "must-dos" - next class arrives at 6 PM...and I have a few hours work before.  They like it best when I don't present anything new...maybe I'll just let them look at fossils tonight and show a movie.
Wednesday we kill the dinosaurs; then next Monday we invent humans and get through the ice age.  Then it's 3 tests by May 15th, and we're outta here.  Yay.

Alls quiet on the TOL front.

Worked yesterday in the health office at one of the HSs.  Sent close to 30 kids home.  Word gets out when there is a sub in the health office and kids flock in to get sent home.  There were actually about 5 who were visibly needing to head home.

One girl said she had severe stomach pain, she figured it must be an ectopic pregnancy. (She had said she had come to the health office with paperwork in Feb, but the lady lost it.) So naively I asked if she thought she's had an ectopic pregnancy since February.  She answered "No, I had an STD then."  Then she went on to show me the Birth Control implant in her arm that she has been begging her mother to let her have removed. Oh, how times have changed.
