"Walk Away the Pounds"
Hello all. I have decided it is time to pull my a** off the couch and start exercising in order to lose some weight.
I thought the Walk away the Pounds DVD's might be a good start. Anybody here try/use them like/dislike them? Do you have any favorites/recommendations?
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Cyndi

Hi Cyndi. I personally like Leslie Sansone's DVDs. I have lymphedema and bad joint pain problems from Arimidex and these are about the only fitness DVDs that I had prior to breast cancer that I find I can still do. I think they would be a great starting out workout to get you moving. I'll have to look through my DVDs and see which ones I have.

I also like Leslie. "Walked" 2 miles with her today.
Mine is the CD where we "walk" one mile in 12 minutes. There are 5 different miles on it.
Sitting is the new smoking. Any movement we do is better than nothing. Good luck!

Cyndi - Based off of which one I have used the most, it is probably one of her older DVDs (prior to where you can customize your workout by picking which sections you want to do), It is called "Walk and Kick". It is about a 30 minute workout. She also has "5 Day Slim Down" that is designed to give you five different workouts so you can do a different one each day and they are roughly 30 minutes each also. For a little faster moving workout, I like her "The Big Burn - 2 Miles of Intervals" and "5 MIle Walk At Home".

Ladies, thank you all so much for your suggestions & recommendations! I think I will start one of these on Monday (how typical is that?).

A group of women at work have exercised to these for a long time! They are a dedicated group and found this a fun way to exercise together.

I had a friend at my place yesterday and she was telling me about that DVD. She switches it up but does the 3 miles usually.

Wel, I see no one has posted here since February. I need help with exercising. I have gained about 60 punds over the last 7 years and I can't stand myself. I am so overweight. But I do not have any motivation. I have these walking DVD's at home. I am going to begin to use them on Monday!

Candie1971 - I need to get going on this too. I am pretty tied up with our local rodeo all this next week but hopefully, I can get my rear in gear the following Monday. I needed to lose some weight prior to diagnosis in 2010 but since then I have only added to it. My first goal is to get my post cancer diagnosis weight off! In addition to the DVD's, why not wear a pedometer and try to challenge yourself to work up to 10,000 steps a day? I need to dig mine out and start using it again. The advantage of the pedometer with motivation is that when you are a little too busy to get the DVD done or you feel like walking outside instead, your pedometer will give you "credit" for the steps you've taken all through the day. They also have other fitness gadgets now too that keep track of energy spent, etc. but the pedometer is pretty basic and far less expensive.
