After discussing my diagnosis, likely mastectomy, and not wanting to do reconstruction with a friend, she pointed me to [url]http://www.thescarproject.org/]The Scar Project[/url].  These are powerful images of women who have chosen not to have reconstruction.

    I just went to the web site you suggested and the pregnant woman on the home page looks just like me (belly), only I'm not preg. I chose not to have reconstruction either. It would have meant another surgery, and I've already had two with this breast ca. My incisions became infected and now instead of drains coming out of my belly, I have a suction hose. I spoke to a woman who owns a shop in my town who deals exclusively with women who have had mastectomies. She had one many years ago. I saw that the prostheses are pretty nice and once iI'm healed I look forward to have some. I had very large breasts and now I can pretty much choose my size!!! No having reconstruction was the right thing for me.I hope all will go well for you.
