How many BRCA 2 ladies had ooph after BC?

    I am brca 2. I'm 3 yrs out and 36 w no kids. I need to get an ooph so I decided to do ivf..one cycle only. The fertility Dr said I can do the ivf and he will monitor my hormones. If successful embryo retrieval I will get ooph right after. Dr said I can still carry a child with out ovaries and I should be OK. Has anyone heard if this is safe? I'm scared to do ivf but its our only way to potentially have children.

    Hi Sanbar8771,

    I am also BRCA 2 positive and just triggered for my first IVF harvest Thursday. I will be starting chemo next week. Plan is to freeze the embryos until we can use them. Both the Oncologists I have spoken to and the fertility clinic have informed me you can still carry a baby with no ovaries.

    Has your Dr informed you of your recurrence rate having a genetic mutation? We saw a genetics breast Oncologist last week and she stressed the risk it would be if I were to indeed get pregnant and carry a baby. I have had two Oncologists recommend getting a surrogate, not what we had in mind to say the least! Just going to freeze the embryos, deal with treatment and revisit the fertility aspect in two years time...
