found new lump 2 years after DCIS and radiation

I had DCIS almost 2 years ago. I had a lumpectomy and 33 radiation treatments. I am currently taking tamoxifen and have a mamogram, ultrasound, and MRI every six months. My last biopsy was an MRI guided biospy 6 months ago which was ok. 

During a self examination, I felt a small lump above the last surgery site that wasn't there six months ago. I called my oncologist and she saw me right away. After my examine she scheduled an immediate mamo, and ultrasound. And if needed a needle biopsy all in the same day. She said I should clear my calendar to have everything done in one day. I saw her late today and am scheduled for tomorrow morning. I can't help be be nervous about this. I am trying to be opitmistic, but I have a gut feeling.

The doctor discribed what she felt as a palpable abnormality. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    cherb, this could be something as simple as a cyst.  My DCIS-Mi was found through calcifications that showed up on my mammogram, but in the years prior to that, and in the years since, I've had lots of "palpable abnormalities".  Those always turned out to be harmless cysts. 

    Good luck.  Hopefully that's all it is.

    Cherb,I'm so sorry to hear this.I also have Dcis and had my 2 lumpectomy and am just finishing Rads.My BC journey just started in Jan.I don't have much advice for you but be thankful that they are being so diligent and thorough.My breast surgeon had to go back in when the first Lumpectomy did not have clean margins.I was mad.Now I'm glad he did.It's very scary to hear this because none of us want to go through this more than once.And even if you have a Masectomy doesn't mean your safe.I was talking to a lady the other day whose sister had BC.She decided to have the whole breast removed.Several years(12 I think)later she finds about her lump in the same area where the 1st Cancer was discovered.It went into her lungs and liver.I am so sorry that's not what you needed to hear right now.It's just so scary this BC .It
