We are so thankful firstcall is all right.
Hoping and praying the same for our gals Groovygirls and Roan and their loved ones.
Continuing to pray for the victims and their loved ones. Reports say that many in close proximity might not have sought immediate medical attention, but may have sustained concussive injuries that will not surface right away. Praying for other runners and bystanders that they seek medical attention. -
A quick note to let everyone know I am fine. I was stopped at mile 20. My family was waiting near the finish for me. Such chaos- watched some fotage- I don't even know what to say.
-
Oh, Groovygirls!!! So glad to know you are okay.
Roan? How are you?
-
GroovyGirls and FCC - such a relief that you are okay!!!! I'm so sorry you are in the middle of such a tragedy. /p>
-
So happy to hear from firstcall and groovygirls. Please stay safe. Groovygirls--do you know if your family is OK?
Holding my breath for Roan, and my heart goes out to all the victims and their families. In addition to the two dead (includes a child), reports say now more than 100 people are injured.
-
What a relief to hear from gg and fc. Looking forward to good word from Roan. I am just heartbroken at the theft of joy and celebration from everyone who deserved it so much and worked so hard to be there.
-
just sick on hearing this...the first thing I did was come to this thread and see how our ladies that were in Boston were doing.....
waiting to hear from Roan...glad groovy and first call are ok....can't understand what this country is coming too but that is for another time....
-
Thank you GroovyGirls for the quick note ... been praying for you all, still worried about Roan ... Roan are you and your family okay?? I can't imagine what you all are feeling ... it is such a tragedy ... heartbroken for everyone in Boston, special prayers to the ones who lost loved ones and are injured.
-
Wonderful news Firstcall and Groovygirls. Roan we are all hoping you and your family are okay.
-
Just checking in on our Boston runners :-(
Glad to hear FC and Groovygirls are ok. Thoughts and prayers are with all affected.
-
Roan is ok - she posted this on her blog last night
Most of you know that Jimmy and I ran the Boston Marathon today.
We are fine physically, but still shaken. Internet is sporadic here, and I am blogging from my phone. I'll post all about this sad day when we get home.
Jimmy and Heather were about a block from the explosions, and I was with the racers who were stopped. I was at mile 25.8.
Please pray for the victims and their families and the medical staff taking care of them. -
Hooray!! Thanks for posting, Pat. I've been worried about her. Mile 25.8 and she was stopped. Not fair - after all that work.
-
So thankful to hear that Firstcall, Groovygirls and Roan are okay. Get home safe and sound. All those effected by this tragedy will be in my thoughts and prayers. ((hugs))
-
Pat, thanks for the update.
-
Glad to hear Roan and family are OK as well.
-
Thanks pat01 for that update. That is a relief. Still so much sadness for those who were hurt.
-
Very happy to read that Roan & family/friends are okay, too. Thank you Pat for finding that out for us!! Hoping everyone gets back home safe.
-
Oh...so glad to know Roan and family are safe and accounted for. What a sad sad day for everyone.

The wonderful marathoner co-worker who helped me plan my HM training schedule is impacted. Her aunt was running at Boston, and the aunt's two adult children who were there to cheer her on were severely injured. Both are now are enduring multiple surgeries to try to save their limbs. I feel so angry and helpless about them and everyone else who was impacted.
What goes through someone's mind who could do something like this? I guess there's really no answer to that question. Anyone who could even think of doing something like this to innocent people is beyond comprehension.
-
I'm also very relieved to hear that FirstCall, groovygirls, and Roan are OK--but NatsFan, that is horrible. These must be your co-worker's cousins? It's just awful. I hope their legs can be saved, but of course there will be a long road ahead of them.
-
I don't think there's a satisfactory answer to why someone would justify this action in their mind, Mary. I just wish the coward(s) would step forward and take responsibility for this action.
-
Such an emotional wreck over this tragedy in Boston. I'm finally at the airport today getting ready to head home and seeing all the runners coming through Seattle on their way home...thankful for their safety and angry and heartbroken over the losses. Praise God Roan, groovygirls and firstcall are okay. My prayers are with all affected!
-
NatsFan, I'm heartsick to hear of the injuries to your coworker's relatives. It's just so unspeakably sad.

I'm still heartsick, like everyone else I guess. The young lady who died was in my son's high school class, they had a few classes together and he's upset, said she was the sweetest girl. My niece runs every year, had finished in a great time and was meeting her parents at Marathon Sports where she used to work. That's where the 1st bomb went off and Melissa is so traumatized, she saw a couple of her friends get their legs blown off. My other son was supposed to meet her at Marathon Sports but was late - he was sitting in a bar a few blocks down. For once, I'm sure glad he was sitting in a bar. And all I can think of is that little boy who was on this earth for 8 tiny years.
It's sad, it's sickening, there is no sense to be made of it. God help us.

LuvLuLu - I am so sorry that you have been personally affected by this.
Some (or many) of you may already be aware, but I just read about a movement to help runners show support and unite. The verbiage below is from the site, but here is the link:
http://therunchat.com/2013/04/a-time-to-unite
We can log runs here. My morning run was for those runners - like ROAN, GROOVYGIRLS and FIRSTCALL - who were not able to finish the marathon.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1X5hW3F2eSZJ2bJLXIdXjwfn2yAgBGnRlXgKgozWC_ls/viewformA time to unite
Watching runners unite in the face of tragedy today at the Boston Marathon is a powerful thing. As you look for ways to help, keep a watch on the Red Cross for ways you can make a difference. Please make yourself aware of the Red Cross’ fundraising rules if you’re participating in or planning a virtual event.
On Tuesday and throughout the week, let’s show the world how strong the running community is. Now is the time to unite and stand as one.
When you head out for a run, wear a race shirt. If you can dress casually to work or have the day off, wear a race shirt.
If you don’t have a race shirt or if you have to dress up for work, show your unity with the Boston Marathoncolors of blue and yellow.
Unite and spread the word by sharing our Facebook post, retweeting the tweet below, sharing our Google+ post, or sharing a link to this blog post.

Wearing my yellow #WDWHalf shirt today.
Still so very sad. Whether just on TV or hearing of LuvLuLu's personal connection, it feels like it affects all of us because we run to be free, and get away from threats not toward them.
I was glad to see the interrupted runners receiving medals as they picked up checked bags yesterday on the evening news. I don't know why, but I needed to see that.
-
I saw a lot of people posting on facebook and out-n-about, wearing race shirts and participating in some activity in honor of Boston and it's marathon particpants. I have been struggling with moving forward with my C25K. It wasn't pretty, but in honor of our own runners here....I broke through and did W4D1.
Hugz also..... to those affected on an even more personal level.

Hello Everyone!!!
I am so sorry I am just now checking in with you. Thank you Pat for sharing my blog post. I thought about Groovy Girls and First Call, and I am so happy that both of them are ok too! Yes, I was at mile 25.8 when we were stopped. Thankfully, for the hour or more that we were all just standing there we were not aware of the exent of the damage the bombs inflicted. We just knew that something happened. When you are within 1/2 mile of finishing a marathon, your brain is sluggish...I was bewildered, and like I said it was a blessing that we did not know to panic. I made it back to my hotel about 2 hours after we were stopped. I did not have my cell phone (no cell phone, no ID, no money, no hotel room key...but I did have my lipstick!), so I borrowed 3 or 4 strangers' cell phones to text my husband that I was stopped and ok. He got those texts about 2 hours later! The cell phone service was sporadic and mostly non-existent.
The swat team camped out in our hotel lobby, yellow crime scene tape was everywhere, constant emergency vehicles and police, etc. whizzed by until late that night, and we were on lockdown in our hotel rooms. Later they let us out to eat at the hotel restaurant. We spent the rest of the day/night watching the horrific coverage on TV. After walking back to my hotel, I was met in the lobby by my friend who was a physician working the finish line medical tent. Once he described what he took care of, I panicked. That's when I knew how horrible it really was. He was visibly shaken. I was never so glad to see my husband in our hotel room. He had finished with a 3:53 time and my friend finished in 3:38. So they were both in the runners' refreshments area--waiting for me. They heard and felt both explosions, but were a block away so they saw no one that was hurt. They described a surreal scene of chaos. They were cleared out of their area pretty quickly. My children were all at home with family and friends--far, far away from Boston.
On a happy note: the morning before the marathon I ran a couple of "warm up" miles with Bart Yasso! And about 25 other people. Then we all had coffee together. I wore my pink "SURVIVOR" knee socks!
My time at the stop was 4:23. I was at mile 25.8, so I feel pretty sure I would have reached my goal of 4:29. My previous marathon PR was 4:39. That was the hardest marathon I have ever run, and now the memories of that day are hard to deal with.
-
OH, Roan, what bittersweet memories you will have. You would have reached your goal, you were so close. So glad Firstcall and Groovygirls are OK.
I love the way we are all together in this, like the sports teams. Our frenemies, the Yankees honoring Boston last night. It's like we're brothers / sisters who fight but we got each others' backs! Same with all the other teams.
I love Boston.
