Need help about the statics for hormone receptor negitive
My mind is shocked . i found an article about the statics and outcomes of the hormone receptor negative breast cancer. The article mentioned that patient with hormone receptor negative has 10 time greater chances to develop a new cancer in her other breast and you had more chances of recurrence .My moms report is ER+/PR-,HER2- . I don't understand either she is hormone receptor positive or negative .Any one pls guide me as i am depressed and disappointed with these statics.

There will probably be articles contradicting the one you found and do remember statistics are always at least five years out of date - your mum IS hormone positive as ER is oestrogen, i would ask for a second opinion re PR too, being HER neg is a good thing, we dont believe in statistics on here as we are all individual.......and many of us do other things to boost health beyond conventional medicines such as exercise and diet....

Get a different surgeon!!!! This one is playing God and they NEVER can really know! It awful to destroy hope and that is not a doctor but a robot! Can you find one more empathetic?
Your Mum has lobular cancer which is nearly ALWAYS hormone positive so therefore has a good prognosis as there are hormone treatments that help, and most lobular cancer is grade 2 when found due to the fact its a cancer that does not form a lump so takes longer to find it......but it is also slower growing.......
I cannot see where your doctor gets his figures from - I am Stage 3A and was told at least 70% chance of 10 year survival without any further cancer....see what I mean?! This was from Royal Marsden a world leader in cancer care......doctors here have given me 80% chance of recurrence in other breast within shorter time frame......so statistics really are meaningless, we are all unique, your Mum is loved, you can cook her good food, keep stress away from her and exercise studies have been shown to improve survival by 50% - just by doing 30 minutes exercise for 6 days per week......and this is not factored in to statistics, nor are dietary changes, nor are improvements in medicine. I really would advise getting a second or even a third opinion so that your Mum has a more realistic outlook, she could easily have another twenty years or more with her diagnosis.......
Maybe she can come here and join the lobular cancer thread as we share a lot of info on there?
