I used acupuncture throughout my chemo, my surgery and recover, and now through radiation. I HIGHLY recommend it. You need to find someone you are comfortable with and that you trust. I actually had been going on and off to my acupuncturist for 5 years. I had stopped going (money reasons) on a regular basis for about a year before m diagnosis. Now I go EVERY week once a week. I truly believe it is what helped me get through. When I was first diagnosed I was Stage 3 Grade 3 2 positive nodes (1 axilla and 1 Sub pectoral). I did chemo first 8 treatments 16 weeks A & C and taxol. I worked 12 hour days and exercised cooked everything through out the entire chemo time frame. After chemo I had a PET that showed CLEAR nothing left. My Pathology after surgery confirmed except my one tumor that was 4 cm at the on start was 2mm (.2cm) at the time of surgery and only 1 lymph node was still positive. So a HUGE improvement from where I began.

Again, it is a personal choice, but I must say I am so grateful. My acupuncturist came to my house post bi-lateral mastectomy and I am 4 weeks today and am starting radiation and have full movement (range of motion) in my arms without physical therapy. By day 6 my drains were able to come out and by 9 days I was able to drive (not far). I also did not have to take any pain medication in the hospital after surgery (I was in no pain). When I got home and was moving around more I just took Motrin at night because of soreness.

Again, everyone's experience is different. I hope your journey is successful and you heal quickly. :-) <3

Nancy, I just noticed another post you had about how long after surgery... I had her come to my house 3 days after surgery. She avoided my arms and put them in my abdomen, legs, toes (the toes can pinch a little i will be honest but it helps move your energy around better), and head/face. I felt GREAT afterward lots of energy. The first week after surgery I had her do it the 3 days after surgery and then 2 times one on Monday and one on Friday for the first 2 weeks. Then I went back to my once a week schedule. :-) <3 Good luck with it! The other thing I recommend is the Nutri bullet for smoothies. It extracts extra nutrients from the fruit and veggies. It takes a little getting used to but it is getting better as I experiment with new recipes. I have always eaten healthy (I am a greens and beans type of girl) with very little red meat mainly chicken, fish, veggies, with an occasional steak or meatballs and sausage (can't take the italian out of the girl completely. LOL). Good luck with everything! <3 :-) </p>

I went to one as part of a complimentary package. I had no expectations and frankly would have skipped it if they hadn't been so adament about me doing it. I'm glad I did. I laid on my back while having it. I had aggravated my ankle injury and went into the office limping badly. Afterwards, I was halfway back to my car before I realized that I had no pain in my ankle. I was pain free for several days. As I said, I had zero expectations when I went in, so I don't believe the effects were psychological. I love having massages, but if I were to have to choose between a massage and accupuncture, I'd choose accupunture. I've also had good luck with accu-pressure, as well.

I am considering accu for pain from bone mets. Sounds like none of you have had to use it for that, but do you happen to know anyone who's tried it for met pain and gotten relief? Or would any of you who still go mind asking your practitioner if they do accu for mets pain? I'd be really glad to know.

    Thanks!!
