New Study about Alcohol Consumption

Hello everyone,
I don't know about this one. This could be a very slippery slope for some people. Whats your opinion?

It's group think, and as Voracious Reader pointed out, the problem with these one size fits all studies.
What I think it doesn't take into account is personal risk of both BC and heart disease. For instance, given my overall health profile, my chance of BC risk is hugely greater than my risk of heart disease. This profiles a lot of unhealthy people, my guess.
I would think the higher the stage, the greater the BC risk, and consequently the more serious the risk of BC over heart disease would be.
My two cents. Could be very wrong.

I read about a similar study last year that said moderate drinking can actually help prevent recurrences. Other studies, however, have said that any alcohol consumption increases your chances of getting breast cancer. I asked my oncologist about this a year or so ago, because I have 1-3 drinks per week. She said that 1-3 drinks per day might be bad...for a lot of reasons...but 1-3 drinks per week would make no difference.
-
I also do the 1-3 drinks a week. I weighed all I could find on this, and decided that I was not giving up my red wine completely. I do not drink hard liquor (never really did), just wine, and usually 1 glass, sometimes 1.5.

YAY for me! Thanks for posting.
-
Life is too short to deprive myself of a favorite beverage...some days I'll have a glass or 2....then nothing for several days....I've never brought this up with my onc and don't intend to.....Overall, I eat healthy, have a good weight, walk every day....and heck I drank very little before Dx and still got BC!!!!

Ha! I always suspected my Knock You Nakeds were at least as effective as Arimidex...
Now, can somebody come up with a study that shows bacon is equally effective? w
-
LOL! I knew sooner or later you would show up on this topic Weesa.
-
Yay for whoever found this study. Love it.

Boy does this make me feel less guilty!!!!
Love my red wine!!!
The oldies on here know that!!
There must be something good in it going on 4 years!!!!!!
Cheers and love to all!!!
Thanks for posting this.. We have so much taken from us, it's nice to have some treats in yourself!!!! -
You guys are too funny, but I am right there with ya!!!
Bottoms up to you.

Not to be a downer, but for triple negatives like me, I've been told by multiple docs and read that alcohol intake -even small amounts - increase the risk of TNBC recurrence. I quit altogether last August, when I was diagnosed. Very difficult, but I'm doing it.

Maybe I can have my Canadian67 beer once a week? (it has only 67 calories and tastes exactly like a light beer)
