Donna - good luck on Wednesday!

Fritoz - I had similar skin issues, but the good news is that my skin began dramatically improving just a week after rads stopped.  With just 8 treatments left,  the healing will start soon.  Pure aloe definitely helped me through the last week of treatment.

I want to thank you all for your encouragement and advice as I finished by first race on Saturday.  It was a 10k and it included a very steep bridge.  I implemented the Galloway method and had my running app. set for the intervals.  I loved the energy and camararderie!  My average per mile pace was 12:10.  I was shooting for 12:30, so I was very excited.  Three months ago I was not even a runner and now I've done this - just a week and a half after I finished rads.  It was very empowering!!   Thank you all so much!

I can't wait to hear all the reports from Boston!!

Way to go, Kathleen!  You must have been totally stoked to beat your goal, and it's even better to know that you had fun doing it.  There *is* something special about the atmosphere at races.

A tough 10K a week and a half after finishing rads -- you are truly a badass runner!

Kathleen - awesome! Isn't it great to see what the crowd energy does for pace and endurance? It took me 6 months to get the nerve for a 10K but now you've done 10, you're halfway to a half!

Very unSoCal weather this morning. Overcast and showery and windy, so I couldn't resist and went out and did 5 miles. Only sprinkled on a little. It felt sooo good! Hope everyone is having an awesome Monday!

Somehow I missed your message. What a great achievement! You must feel very happy and stoked that you could be that strong so soon after rads. Gives hope to me, and I'm sure many others, who haven't started treatment yet that there is more running and racing ahead. Great job!

Hi, everyone.  I'm new to the thread, and generally don't post much on the boards.

I was a newbie runner prior to being diagnosed in November.  I had run my first 5k in October and with my best time: 28 min, 13 seconds.  I am almost done with chemo now (last one this Friday) and I haven't done much running.  I had signed up for a half marathon prior to being diagnosed, and had it transferred to a 5k.   I ran that 5k this last Saturday in 37 min, 31 seconds.  It felt amazing to be out running again, and it has inspired me to get back to it.  I went to the gym and ran 2.5 miles today.  I'm doing another 5k on Saturday, and I just signed up for a half marathon in October.  Running makes me feel like I'm back in control of my life.  I'm looking forward to getting to know you ladies. Happy running!

Thanks everyone.  Wow.  You made me feel great!  I could get used to being called a badass. :)

I think the real badass is lawgirljenn for running during chemo!

Way to go on signing up Mariasnow.  That must have been so cathartic!

In case it's on anyone's to-do list, it's the last chance to sneak in an early registration for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend events.

Open registration starts noon EST Tuesday 9 April and MousePlanet projecting sellouts within an hour for some (and mentioning 2,000 fewer places available).

    I'm good - got in for 10K and Half (Jan 10, 11).

Wow - everyone is doing well.  I'm impressed by so many of you running so soon after chemo and rads.

Ran my 13.1 final long training run for the HM.  I was painfully slow, well over 3 hours, but I did it.  The HM cut off time is 4 hours, so even with my slow pace I should be able to stay ahead of the straggler van.  Now I can start tapering down a bit.  I'm in San Diego for a conference so did a 3 mile run at dawn along the water this morning.  Beautiful!

Haha groovygirls!  That's awesome that your daughter was Hit Girl!  I decided I was going to fight cancer the way she fought the bad guys, so that's why Hit Girl is my avatar.

OK--putting it out there.  I was out for an evening brisk walk and decided I'm going to try running (for the first time in many months) tomorrow morning.  Hold me accountable!

OK--it wasn't pretty, but I did it.  I ran (that's a strong word) for 10 minutes, walked for 5 minutes, ran for another 10 minutes and walked 5 minutes.  It is going to take some time to get back to where I was.  But, I broke a sweat, and am feeling it in my leg and stomach muscles (which is a good thing!).

Good Morning Everyone.  Just delivered a baby girl, 6# 1 oz, so now I can put my things together and head to Boston soon.  I'm a little nervous about how it will go, but I'm going.  Marathon is on Monday.  Legs are still a little sore, but I still have a few days to rest them before the marathon.  Ive run this before, but this my first Boston since Chemo.  I won't be fast, I think you have to be under 6 hours to get a medal.  Hope everyone is running well, and I look forward to everyones updates.
