Liefie, the same thing happened to me. Made it through the mastectomy, six months of crappy chemo. Thought I had gotten through it without letting it take to big a toll on hubby and two young kids. Then hit the wall, BIGTIME, with depression. I think we sometimes just run out of "fight", temporarily. It'll get better, if it doesn't, seek help. Sending you hugs, from a cold, damp parking lot. (((((((((((((x))))))))))))))

      Hi Smileeveryone xx
6 hrs sleep mug of tea in hand checking my sisters.
Had the BEST day since this sxxt started yesterday. DH went to work and Edi was up and running.
Looked out at my garden/yard. Sun was shining !! went out onto deck and it was warm enough for no coat. Laughing.
Started by scrubbing garden furiture and putting back in place. Swilled deck and then tidied DH's tool store. My carpet shampooer is a stupidly huge machine and no where big enough in house to store it. Now in there, bet DH moans but SO WHAT. He only opens the store now and again and now everything is neat and tidy.
Collected all my garden bits and bobs, wind chimes etc and then with mask on ( that was a sight for sore eyes ) sprayed them all with chrome paint, plus stuff from shower room.
    All looks like new.Smile
Popped to shops as needed milk bread and something for roast today.( yum)
Came home and GD and ED came to see me. Made GD dinner and then she announces she wants a bath here, in she goes and I go in our room to find ED testing new bed out.
She is sleeping on a mattress on the floor at MIL and hurting all over.Frown
Dry and powder GD and pop into her pjs next thing both of them are cuddled up under duvet and threatening to never go.lol
They are coming for a sleep over next Saturday which will be lovely.
ED remo back on track but her partner is like DH and could find fault with anything, think it is a control issue. She is now looking forward and being positive for both of them.
Today DH is off and hopefully if sun comes out is painting his shed. Edi will start tidying garden ready for hopefully planting bedding plants soon.
Felt amazingly energetic and sooo hope it will last.

Nihahi  poor DD, but just your luck to meet infected person, good for you getting out of there. Hope you both ok now xx maybe you should carry anti bac spray and squirt anyone who looks dodgy.

Liefie, you poor lamb, hope you brightening up, will send you some of my energy and good feeling. 10 people for food !! but as you say will keep you busy and then food fun and laughter will lift your spirits.Laughing
Put on some happy music as you do the prep and get dancing around you beautiful kitchen.
    Lots of ((( HUGS ))).

Traii, bet your house is manic !! Safe journey xx

All your sisters out there, happy Sunday, minimal se's and love and joy.xx

Dear Edi, so happy that you feel so good. You are positively beaming! Wow, but you accomplished a lot yesterday - I think that sunshine energized you?! You tidied DH's tool shed? Amazing. Our 'tool shed' is the garage. So much junk and stuff in there that both cars have to stand outside. DH promised to get rid of two thirds, but that was a long time ago . . . Can I hire you to come clean out that place? Thanks for the sympathy, and I am feeling better today.

Nihahi, hope DD is feeling better?

Made a big turkey pot pie from leftover turkey with a sage and parsley crust that I found on the Internet (where I find the most amazing recipes). Will serve different roasted vegetables and a big green salad with it. Dessert is a meringue cake with cream, chocolate and strawberries. I know, I know. Will eat only small bites, and go for a long walk when everybody leaves. Still have to lay the table, have to get cracking. Everybody have a lovely Sunday!

Edi.....are you trying to take on the title of energizer bunny???? Sounds like you had a well deserved LOVELY DAY! Enjoy the sunshine....another grey, misty day here....so not the norm for us. Don't know how you do it over there with so many cloudy, rainy days. But then, you already have green grass and flowers, so that's the payoff, for sure.

Liefie.....thinking about you....hope you have a good day with your friends. Are you serving mooseballs with the chickpeas?????Laughing

Websister...ya know.....I read your blog, the nurse "revised" your stress rating, you admit to be exhausted, and agreeing to slowing down...then you did this, that and the other thing!!!!! I'm wondering to myself...."what doesn't she understand about the idea of slowing down????". You are too funny.

Traii....hope the penguins have all been forewarned about your arrival. Can't wait to here all the stories! Maybe you can "ditch" the wig while on vaca, and come back sporting your "new do"!

Dakota...another crazy weekend for you no doubt. Hope your weather has improved for the outdoor stuff.

Caitlin...how's the tinglies? Not too bad I hope.

Edi - wow - you always seem to have so much energy, but now you have out done yourself. Must have been nice to get so much done outside in relative warmth, followed by a lovely time with your DD and GD!

Liefie, hope you are pleased with your decision to prepare Sunday dinner for friends and that being in good company will buoy your spirits.

Nihahi, sorry to hear about DD - you were wise to get clear of that waiting room!

Traii, can't wait to hear about your adventures on Phillip Island!

Taxol isn't being particularly kind so far. Feel pretty flattened energy-wise, plus have rash on my hands and zapping bone/joint pain all over. Guess those are common SEs though - hoping today will be the worst of it!

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Sooo....today, for me. Things going well, getting a few things done at home, actually feeling calm, almost dare I say "looking forward" to Friday! Hubby says, lets have a relaxing day today, to make up for yesterday. We decide to go out for breakfast, so I can get a decaf coffee.....I'm walking out the front door of our condo........WHAM......Slipped on a patch of black ice and my feet went right out from under me.....landed on my knee, hip, wrist and OF COURSE, my right shoulder...the BAD SHOULDER! I'm trying to see the humour, I really, really am trying.....really am!!!!!! Undecided

Ouch, Nihahi, that must have hurt!! So sorry you had that fall - find with those black ice slips there's no time to brace either. Hope you can ice any bruises and that this doesn't get in the way of physical and mental prep for Friday.

Liefie - I hope that you had a lovely time with your company today, the meal sounded wonderful. Glad you are feeling a little better

Caitlin - hope the side effects go away soon for you

Scottie - wishing you a good week ahead

Nihahi - sorry to hear about your fall this a.m., hope it didn't do any damage and that you listened to Scottie and had a wonderful soothing bath and warm bed for the afternoon

Re: blog - stress and my activities - I think that the extreme fatigue I feel at times is still from the rads, I am just three weeks out from it and skin is healing nicely but think that takes a lot of energy. When I do feel the fatigue I rest and take it easy, I have been having nap periods every afternoon, whether I sleep or not. The stress levels the nurse was referring to weren't so much to do with my activity levels (which I have some control over) but from other things that I don't have much control over. I find the activities, within reason, actually helpful in many ways. I hope that the rest of your week is now uneventful for you, I will be thinking of you.

Sending hugs to everyone, tomorrow a.m. is my third MUGA scan so early morning

    Hi all....

Nihahi.....I think we need to wrap you up in bubble wrap, and put a face filter over you!  I am so sorry you slipped and fell....I HATE that feeling where you can feel yourself slipping, and there's not a d**m thing you can do, because it all happens so fast!  I hope you are icing the bruised areas, and taking it easy.  Poor thing! I think you should at least consider forgoing all activities that are not necessary to ensure your surgery date doesn't change! Wink

Edi, you sound as though you had a wonderful day in front of you.....and I am sure you took advantage of it.  PLEASE come to Oregon and clean out my garage.....I pulled into it this afternoon, and got tired just looking at all the junk!  At the very least you should come and entertain me while I clean it!  Smile

Websister, I know what you mean about doing some things to counteract the stress brought on by things you can't control.  Sometimes I feel doing MORE of what I like to do is the only thing that keeps me from going completely off the deep end.

Liefie, your menu for today's dinner sounded positively mouthwatering.......I think we all should plan a weekend getaway at YOUR place.....I would just sit around and wait for the delicious food to be served!  I am glad you are feeling a little better....hope you are not exhausted by the company, but I think that if we can take the focus off of "us" for a bit (and plan a dinner party for 10, for instance) we DO end up feeling at least somewhat better.  Hope it went well, but getting to know you on this forum, I am SURE it went very well.

Caitlin, what was your focus in Grad School?  How long did you live in Corvallis?  For some reason, I am thinking you are in Canada now?  I'm so sorry you are suffering from SE's......hope they even out and you can feel better soon.

Dakota-when is surgery?  Bet your weekend was busy as ever with your kidlets going in every direction!

Traii-hope you have tons of fun on your trip to Phillips Island.....please watch DS so he doesn't try to penguinnap a souvineer!  ( I am not sure I spelled that right-someone please correct me!)

Scottiee, glad you are doing okay! Class(School) is keeping you busy!

Well, I have had an intense day, and am exhausted.....may need to take a nap!

Namaste and God Bless - Jackie

Oh, Nihahi, you did not need that! So sorry to hear this, but that black ice is so, so treacherous. Like Caitlin says, it happens so fast. I once fell on ice and cut open my eyebrow - took 7 sutures to close it. Another time slipped on ice and hurt my back to the point where I have to do yoga to keep muscles stretched, otherwise hurt it again. My family make fun of me whenever I have to walk in icy spots, because I shuffle along like a 90-year old, terrified of falling. Here on Van Island hardly ever icy conditions - thank heavens. You just relax, and be good to yourself. Hope the pain and bruising is not too bad. Wish it never happened!

Movie, you are all so welcome at my place for a get together. Will give me the greatest pleasure to cook for all of you! Today went really well. Like you said, taking the focus off our own sorrows, and doing something for other people always lift the spirit. So true. I do feel much better after many jokes and laughter, and will tackle life again tomorrow. As for the spelling of that word, I think it's 'souvenir', but I may be wrong. Too lazy to use a dictionary. LOL.

Scottiee, good to hear from you! In a few months it will be summer holiday, and you can relax. Are you planning to go on teaching beyond that?

Caitlin, hope those SE's will subside soon!

Websister, hope the Muga scan goes well for you. That rad fatique -  sleep/rest is all that really helps. It should get better in a few more weeks. Glad your mom remembered your birthday!

    HELLO  Smile
7 am here so crept down for tea and Sisters time.
Energy level dipped a bit yesterday but could be because DH decided to paint THE SHED and despite expecting a day of peace and pottering for me I was in and out, up and down like a fiddlers elbow !!
Don't mind supplying tea but every problem involved me having to find the solution Frown
Sorted out my bench in the garden which sits inside an arbour, one of my favourite places. Seat lifts up and all my garden tools and gd's bits and bobs for play in garden there. Then cut fuschia back down to ground, it is a whole bed full and was really exhausting.
Have a rest DH says, off Edi goes like a rat down a drain and splatted on sofa.Put in roast when I woke up and that was my day.
Today have rads at midday followed by visit to my surgeon. Follow up after op, swear I can find new lumps in boob. Probably nerves ( I hope ).

Lefie, glad you picked up, your meal sounded sooo yum. Imagine us lot around your table Laughing what a great event that would be.
Will happily sort your garage, do love sorting and organising stuff. Your garage sounds like most peoples cars outside, junk inside.
Hope you had a good BIG portion of that food and put feet up, sod the walk lol xx

Nihahi, movie right you need to stay safe in house until Friday !! Fall sounds horrendous , hope not too stiff and aching today.
Your comment about weather where you are struck a cord. My cousin in Dubai posted on f/b that it was pxxxxxg down there ! His lovely wife has just gone back for a well earned break from her chemo, bet she is not happy. She so wanted some sun.xx

Caitlin, Hope se's have subsided, you are getting there, Smile we all are going through this with you and you are being positive and cheerful despite everything xx

Scottie, busy lady, just pop on when you can. ((( HUG ))) xx

Websister, Hope MUGA goes well. So much still happening in everyone's life as well as the bxxxh fingers in so many pies, no wonder we are all tired. Do the nap thing to if only to rest weary bones.Twelve days of rads to go for me and dreading the follow on fatigue but at least that part will be over.
Hope Benny is getting through them ok. xx

Movie, enjoy your posts too. You have become so much more positive and spelling is not as important as hearing from you.
How is DD ? hope she has chilled out a bit.
Your garage next after Liefie's xx

Dakota, try and take it easy before surgery, sure with chicks it isnt that easy. xx

Traii, Hope you are having fun xx

Need another pint of tea !!

All sisters have a good day xxxx

Edi, you are a real treasure....boy, you are just zooming through your rads...I'm sure the BS will say everything is great and be amazed at how well you are doing. Bet you already miss the posts from your cyberbaby, Traii.

Movie....pfft to spelling, love reading your messages.

Websister....I'm sure you do rest when needed. I was just funning you.

    Quick extra message  Laughing .
Just got back from hospital, Nihahi you were right ALL FINE !! Had a really thorough examination by my surgeon. Doesnt want to see me until September. YAY
10 more rads, one more chemo over two weeks then all finished.

When came on here never thought it would end, and I would not be able to cope with it, to anybody new to all this if I can do it so can you.  It is a long journey but with the Warrior Sisters by your side it is no longer scarey.

Nihahi, you sound good, but how are you after the fall yesterday? Yes, that pie crust came out really well. Crunchy, flaky, delicious. The herbs made it even more tasty. Never made it before, but will certainly make it again. Love cooking/baking, and made recipe scrap books as a little girl mainly because I love eating so much - LOL.

Edi, after you have sorted out my garage and my house, Movie can move in to decorate. Wouldn't that be nice? Wish I can have you here to help me sort out the tax papers. Every year this time I have to do this, and it is the bane of my existence. DH does most of the admin, but he gives me the job of doing the tax papers. Feel like a blind person in a dark room, because it's totally out of my comfort zone, some papers are always missing, accountant keeps phoning me, and I'm clueless - often don't even know what he's referring to and feels like a fool. . . Did I say I hate it?  So happy your check-up went well, and the finish line is in sight for you, Edi. What a ride, hey?

Websister and the others, hope you all have a good day!

    Morning to my favorite ladies!

Edi, your posts are always a treat!  I am so glad your treatments are going well, and that you will be finished in two weeks!  And no Dr. until September, yay!  Now you can focus on getting your garden back after all the cold, nasty weather you have had.  I think that since you had that "teaser" sunny day, where you sat outside and drank tea, you probably cannot wait to get back out there and enjoy the Spring and Summer!  You must post pics when you can-I would love to see your little arbor espcially.  I used to think I liked to garden, but DH is a little girl when it comes to yardwork, and so over the years I have gotten away from it.  I will have to try harder to get back into it, as I used to find it very theraputic(sp? - again!) for my soul. Heaven knows I could use therapy for it NOW!

Nihahi-the countdown has begun!  Getting excited for you to join us DIEP ladies on the "dark side" lol. Have you located body bubblewrap and a face mask yet?? if not, get on it.....I dont want to see a delay-TWCBN needs to be evicted, and soon!  I may be having Stage 2a in May.....we may be able to take that hike to Iceberg Lake in Glacier together this summer-but you CAN NOT get sick, or hurt anymore in order to have surgery this week and have time to recover!

Liefie, I'm sorry you get stuck with the tax c**p.  I can say that with great authority, as my DH is a CPA, and right now he is buried up to his eyeballs in tax c**p......before my 96 year old mother came to live with us and I was not a full-time caregiver, I would work in his office during the months of March and April......(actually s**t is more like it!  I hate numbers!)  So, I can't spell, and I can't do math.....obviously a grade school reject here!

Websister-I hope your scan goes well.....and that you are doing okay.  How is mom?  I can only imagine that even though your mother does not live with you, that you have some of the same issues as I do with my mother......it's really hard to watch them "crumble" in front of us......I get stressed out over her a lot.....and am sure that stress did not help me in avoiding BC.

Carla- I hope that you have a better day today than you are anticipating.  I have not done chemo, so can only imagine how hard it can be.  Since you live in the San Diego area-have you ever attended a play at the Old Globe in Balboa Park?  My DD#1 was in a production of "The Pleasure of His Company" there a few years ago.  My husband and I flew down twice to see it during its summer run.  It was delightful (I'm biased) and I loved Balboa Park, and hanging out in San Diego was a treat!

Dakota-busy weekend?  Surgery this week?  I am thinking of you, and hope all is well.

Traii-you had better be enjoying your holiday with the penguins......send pics please!

To everyone else-I hope your week is starting out well, and that it continues that way!

    (((Hugs))) to you all!

Thanks, Edi! I sincerely believe those words. All of you have become like dear friends to me, and I love you all.

Movie, you'd better begin to make some spelling mistakes if you can't spell, otherwise we won't believe you - lol. As for Math, was I ever grateful when I could leave that behind! Phew! Simply had no interest in it whatsoever. Was a hopeless bookworm who used to quickly hide my story books when I heard my mom coming down the passage to check on me doing homework, almost like Edi hides her netbook when DH approaches . . . lol.

Now I have to sit down and apply for a passport renewal for my DS. I've known this customer since birth. If I leave it to him, it will not get done, and he may miss his brother's wedding in South Africa on 30 November. It will be really bad if the best man is a no-show. Nihahi, I know you will understand the situation - lol. Lots of paperwork in my near future . . . sigh!

Edi, love your last post - beautiful words! It's wonderful that rads are going well and you're so close to the finish line!

Movie, I was in Corvallis in the late 80's/early 90's, studying statistics. I just loved that it was so easy to get to the coast or the mountains or Portland or Eugene from there. Haven't been back in about 15 years but have many fond memories.

Liefie, so glad that the dinner turned out well and that you're starting to feel better. Taxes :-( Don't get me started! I am a numbers person, but since I'm a resident of IN, my DH is a resident of KY, and he owns a business in a third state, our taxes are a royal PITA. We will probably have to file for an extension - again!

Nihahi, hope you're getting all rested for Friday. Did you say Dakota is having surgery this week too?

Carla, hope a day of lying low paid off on the SE front. I still have some bone pain - but much better than yesterday.

Websister, hope the MUGA goes well.

    Night all!

Good to have a moment to sit down and connect with you all. Spent yesterday taking daughter to appointment, then did combination of loading and unloading boxes into my car-over to the rental storage-go back and do it over and over again. Hubby finally joined us after work. At this point she was packing while we waited, for a box at a time. Didn't finish until 8:00.....both she and I were at the point of tears, but we got through it somehow. I probably would have handled it better if I hadn't bounced off the sidewalk yesterday, but it's done. Now she has the task of sorted through stuff and getting rid of much of it. I am going to be around, but will leave (try to at aleast) that to her. I could have screamed several times yesterday to both her and hubby, that I told you this would happen if you didn't get started.....but kept my mouth shut).

The sun is trying to show its face today, and thankfully no snow in the forecast, so maybe I can get a walk in. Missed the entire weekend due to all the commotion and crashes.

Dakota....I was worried you'd gone awol on us......Friday's getting close.....don't know about you...I cannot wait for it. ByeBye alien, hello sleep!
