I too havn't been on here for a few weeks. I guess I am trying to pull myself away from this cancer trip. But alas I find I am drawn back wondering how you gals are doing. I think I shaved my head at this piont three years ago. I remember having hair for halloween and shaving on the sunday that followed. I have an appt. with my RO at the end of the month. Not sure why but I'm getting nervous now. I guess because now I am thinking about every ache and pain and wondering if it's C. Call me crazy.
To you american gals, happy election week. I hope everyone is safe and sound after Sandy. I know Alicia got her power back.
-
Hi Michele - I still check in every day but I know what you mean.
Just had my annual MRI - all clear!! The bs only wants to see me once a year now. It was really stressful going every 6 months.

Thanks for asking about Josh, Linda. I put a brief explanation on facebook, but for those of you not on facebook, Josh was jogging in a neighborhood near his college 2 weeks ago and was hit by a Doge Ram pick-up truck. He thought he was okay, so he walked back to his dorm, which was prob. 1/2 mi., where he proceeded to get sick. A friend found him on his dorm room floor, called the RA's, and they all got JOsh down to he friend's car and she tok him othe ER. They admitted him and ran all kinds of tests. There had been talk of medivaccing him to another hosptial that specialized in internal injuries, but he didn't have go to there: He had no broken bones or internal injuries. I drove the 4 hrs. to see him the next day and stayed for 2 nights to make sure he was on the mend. He was tremendously sore that week, and missed all his classes, but was able to go to them last week. His main conplaint was that his ribs, knee and wrist hurt a lot. He is healing very quickly, though, is feeling more like his ol' self now. I told him he was a very blessed young man, that the outcome could have much much worse. Oh, the driver did stop, but when Josh told him he was okay, the driver took out his wallet and tried to pay Josh on the spot, then just left without leaving any contact info with Josh. We figure that the driver was either drunk or had something to hide from the police, because he begged Josh not to call them. I believe the police are still trying to find the guy. We are just so thankful he was okay. Nette

I am glad to hear he is on the mend. God is very good! He can forgive the guy who hit Josh, but I believe in Karma!! He'll get his...
As far as I am good, I am being referred to a cardiologist. I had my Herceptin on Wednesday after a three month break, but there is some concern about my heart. I don't know if it's the Herp or the radiation to the left side of my breast. I'm going to a cardiologist who specializes with Herp women. Ahhhh, and the beat goes on (Too taboo?)
Alicia...how are you doing? After Sandy and the Nor'easter, are you staying sane???
Love to all of you!!!!!!!!

Hi girls ! I finally have popped in to check on you all. Hoping everyone is doing well and living life. I have stayed away from the boards as I find it makes me nervous and keeps cancer front and center of my brain. I am still trying to stuff it in the back. Had another foot surgery last week, thyroid dr today he called and said one nodule grew slightly like .2 mm's. Said it could simply be the sono tech that measured. I will see what he says today. Scans and blood February so I will try to relax until then. I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays and feeling good. I keep up with many of you on FB those not on ~ GET ON ! Nettie ~ Hope your son is on the mend. HOLY CRAP.
xoxo

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi everyone! I know I see most of you on Facebook, but I just popped in to see Sue! Love you ladies!
-
Ya, Sue how are you?
-
You know...one person I haven't heard from lately is Melinda. Has anyone else?
-
I see Linda all the time on FB. She seems to be living life to the fullest.
-
Hi Girls - just got home from 3 weeks in the South Island of New Zealand. Busy unpacking, shopping and washing. I'm good - had a lovely time.
-
Sue, welcome back. I guess it must be getting hot down there this time of year, right?
-
It had been really hot before we went away but we came home to lots of rain. It's the start of Autumn now.
-
WOw Automn. We are up to our eyeballs in snow right now...Patiently waiting for spring...I lie, I can't wait for spring, not at all patient.
-
Just popping in to say hi! The weather has finally turned in NC! It's going to be 75 tomorrow. Woo hoo!!! Love you all!
-
Hi Linda - it's still hot here, still getting temps like 86 F. How are you? still on herceptin?
-
Yes, I'm still doing Herceptin every three weeks. Had scans not too long ago, and they were free and clear! May will be my 3 year anniversary for being NED. Facing a total hysterectomy at the end of May. I've had so many surgeries in the 3.5 years since I was diagnosed that I have forgotten. I guess that's a good thing!
I am doing good. Just bought a house a couple of month's ago. That was a life-long dream
Getting ready to join a church. I wasn't raised in a church, although I've went to church. Getting cancer has definitely brought me closer to God, and I finally found a home where I fit
My little girl just turned 10 on 3/11. She is definitely a diva!
That's about it for me! How about you?
-
Linda - that is the best news - thank God for herceptin. Congratulatons on getting a house!!
I'm good, except my back went out on Thursday - my physio takes good care of it, so it will only probably take 1 or 2 more visits to clear it up.
We've just been to the Sth Island of NZ for 3 weeks. Had a great time. Going to Adelaide in May for our grandson's first birthday.
Otherwise, I just go to work everyday and try and rest on the weekends.

Ok, ladies. I need a pep talk. I saw my onc a couple of weeks ago and I mentioned my left hip was giving me grief. So i went for a bone scan and xray last week. My onc called me to tell me there is something there. I see her this week for a status update. I am in freak out mode now. I feel like every sensation in my body is cancer. I am so scared, I am an emotional wreck. I only hope that they plan to do something, and that is is not to late. Also this week I am booked for an abdominal and chest CT. Please say as many prayers for me as you can. Oh ya, please don't say anything on Facebook as my family doesn't know yet.
-
Michelle - big hugs and lots of swearing from me. Does you hip hurt when resting, like lying in bed? I'm one big ache, but resting pain seems to be an indicator. Keep us posted - love you.

A little, but not enough to even think of taking pain pills. I have been doing a lot of zumba, palates, and yoga. So I figured it was pain from exercise. Just what I always thought, exercise is bad for your health...No I am thinking about how my back has been ache. I have been blaming it on all the shoveling I have been doing. My foot has been numb, but my dr said it was a pinched nerve from my recon last year. I guess I will find out more on Tuesday. I am so scared to tell my family. Crazy thoughts are running through my head...update will, pick out bariel cloths, etc....can't seem to stop and relax. Last night we watched a movie with a wedding and I started crying because I want to see my daughter get marrried. God help keep me sane.
-
M - I have chronic back issues and often bad pain - my bone scan was a mess, but no cancer - just lots of arthritis. Try not to worry too much yet.
I'm with my daughter at the moment - she's having major husband issues and needed help - going home tomorrow. The baby is gorgeous - nearly 1 now. We'll be coming to see them in early May for his birthday.
(((((((((HUGS)))))))))
-
Thanks Suzie.

You have got to stop thinking of burial clothes and the like! It will do you no good! Look at me, I'm Stage IV, and am doing just fine, going on my 4th year of treatment. As Cher says in Moonstruck...Snap Out of It!
Depending what the scans show, bone metastisis is one of the easiest to treat since it does not involve the internal organs like the liver or lung (mine was liver). Zometa is one of the bisphosphonates used to treat bone mets. I've taken it since 2010 as a precaution. Very easy on the system.
Prayers are going directly to the heavens as I type this. Feel free to call me if you would like...My cell is 336-324-9208. I'm not diminshing your fear...I just don't want you to worry until you need to. God forbid it is mets, you will get through this!! I will help! Loving {{{hugs}}} being sent!
-
Linda, thank you, Thank you, Thank you.....I are helping for sure.
-
I ment to say YOU are helping for sure. So when were you diagnosed? Was it the same time as bc or much after. Did you have surgery or chemo for bone mets? What was your process like?
-
I was diagnosed Stage 4 on 10/19/09 from the beginning. During my first PET after being diagnosed, my liver lit up. I had a 1.5 cm tumor on it, along with my 11 cm breast tumor. My sternum lit up also, but it was uptake from a car accident the previous February. I did my AC/Taxol/Herceptin. 1st chemo 11/24, and by May 2010, I was NED. Because my sternum lit up, I was eligible for Zometa. You don't lose your hair, but it does give you some flu like symptoms. It's relatively easy. I'll be on that for the rest of my life. This is my life...chemo every three weeks for the rest of my life, but what's the alternative?
This is a hard disease! You just look for clues everywhere that you go that everything will be OK. You just need to folow your heart and listen/ask questions.
