Bras 101: The Great Post-Exchange Debate
Comments

Golden01 - Don't mess with you when you're wearing that camo!
Love it! Glad you got the sizing worked out. May the 'uniform' do its job well!
-
Delilah I am trying so hard not to buy anymore bras it soooo hard.
FYI Soma has a new bra in that we are nt allowed to sell yet. I don't know too much about it other than what I saw. It's a molded cup with 3 part construction. I saw a full coverage and a minimizer. It looks kind of like the Allura but it has a pretty lacy fabric with a floral pattern in it. I think it's called Stunning Support. I'll tell you all more when I get the info and I get a chance to try it on. I did try the minimzer on didn't see my size in the full coverage yet, and it did make me look smaller and it was very comfy. I don't want to look smaller though.
-
ok, girls now tell me how many red bras are too much? i have 3 and my favorite freya (red) is on sale in herroom. post asap!
-
Welllllll.....I think it depends on how many red shirts/tops/blouses/dresses you have. If you wear red every day then you need billions of red bras!!
-
marriage ~ bras , marriage ~ bras. give me a moment i"m thinking...
-
So, Owlwatcher... what did you decide? (tough choice?)
-
Oh, btw, went to PS for exchange surgery pre-op: she said no uw bras for 3-4 months. Any suggestions for pretty non-uw bras?
-
owlwatcher - One can never have too many red bras!
Especially when it's your favorite Freya ON SALE!
Edited to add: Marriage ~ bras .... just saw that part... uh-oh... I don't want to be responsible for getting you in trouble.
If it's hot enough ... he'll like it too, right?
-
2nd time - That's what my PS told me ... no UW for 3 months. About two months in, however, I caved because I was really hurting and the UW's helped the pain.
Wacoal Awarness is one a lot of ladies wear while waiting to get in underwires ...
http://www.herroom.com/wacoal-85276-awareness-soft-cup-bra.shtml
And there are a lot of variations of this bra too.
Edited to add: If you go to the herroom site on the left side of the page, scroll down until you find 'soft cup' (wireless) bra and it will give you tons of options. I've found the best thing, though, is to go to Nordstroms or a bra boutique and just try on bras ... tons of 'em.
That's the best way to find what works for you. And even then, sometimes we get them home and realize that style/brand doesn't work for us. It's a lot of trial and error to find what works for YOUR body. Just remember to not get frustrated and enjoy the process. Because in the end you will figure out the size that works best for you, the style that works for you and the brand that works best for you. We're all different.
-
Thanks, D-H, those looks so pretty...Getting excited to try on bras.... haven't been able to wear pretty ones in sooo long... Will keep this in mind
-
Haven't made a decision about red bra. I am struggling i have been married for 36 years. but we have been to hell and back right?
-
You can't have too many red bras! I wear mine on Fridays! Part of the casual day at work. No one but me knows, of course, but it puts me in my "casual" mood before I even leave the house for work.
-
Vote for your favorite bras in the "Undie" awards contest at Herrom and get a 10% off coupon. I voted for my favorite Chantelle C-Chic low-cut bra which I'm wearing in red today because it is Friday! Also voted for my favorite sports bra, the Wacoal underwire. I mentioned my journey with BC in the reasons I gave when voting for my favorite bras.

I wear red bras under red, under black, under grey, under brown, purple ... under anything other than white or ivory.
Feel extra sassy on days when I'm wearing my red undies.
Thanks Golden01! I'm going to vote now ...
I couldn't get the link above to work ... try this one ...
-
Thanks for fixing the link!
-
funny I don't have any red bras. I have purple, navy blue, leopard, mochachino, black, and nude. I think I want the new eggshell blue but I am holding out. I get to get the new Soma bra for only $10 but it only comes in black or nude. But that will be my next bra purchase then I am holding out.
-
Hi Carrol... You work at Soma, don't you? Do they do fittings like Nordies? Been so long since I bought a regular bra off the shelf, and don't know what size I'll be after surgery so will need to be fitted correctly. There's a Soma store near where I live (it's by a Nordies so I can check both places on the same day.) So looking forward to pretty bras! Just need a little more patience....
-
I got a sports bra!! Yay!! So far it is BY FAR the most comfy bra I've had on in a long time.
It's a Natori. On this website it says low impact but on my tag it said high. Hmmm. Either way I jumped around in the Nordie's dressing room and nothing moved! ;-)

ok girls i will still stay married. i didn't have to choose between my dh and a new bra! i found the freya l love even cheaper than herroom on nordstrum in purple.
Buy the way i live in bras but wore a cotton non underwire at night. tonight, i am going to do what dawne-hope does i am going to wear an underwire for sleeping.
-
owlwatcher - What is the Freya you found?
I have two Freya's in red: Deco and Arabella. I have a couple of Arabellas and it's one of my favorites for sleeping. I'm not the die-hard sleep in underwires like Val61 is! She's hardcore.
I wear an underwire to sleep most nights but sometimes I sleep in cotton zip up the front sports bra. Let us know how it goes ... and I do want to know your find ... I might have to get it myself ... especially in red. lol!
-
The freya that fits me is the molded plunge aa1254, it comes in firecracker((red) and iris (purple). The weird thing is that the aa4234 deco is too narrow which is also described as a molded plunge. i'm just happy to find a bra that fit these wide bagel shaped implants.
-
owlwatcher - Thank you. I haven't tried that style.
http://www.herroom.com/freya-aa1254-deco-honey-underwire-plunge-bra.shtml
But the one I have is similar but I don't fill out the top of the cup ...
http://www.herroom.com/freya-aa4234-deco-underwire-molded-plunge-bra.shtml
It is the best bra I have, though for cleavage ... it even is better than some push-ups that I have. Glad you can get both ... marriage and Freya!
I'll have to try the Freya Deco Honey sometime. Thank you for sharing.
-
Dulcigirl, I've debated buying that Natori sports bra - good to know you like it! Thanks for your bra review
-
I LOVE it!! I actually slept in it. Didn't even wash it first! (Don't judge! That is how comfy it is!) i'm going to have to get another one. I'm wearing it to church this morning too. Lol.
-
2nd time yes they do fittings at soma. You can jsut drop in or call and make an appointment. They don't all have fitters that specialize in reconstruction but most have some expereince with it.
-
Dulcigirl - LOL! Nice!
I've never seen that one. Thanks for posting! I have a couple of Natori t-shirt bras and they are so soft and comfy! Can't wait to try it out! Have never seen that one. Thanks for posting it! Awesome that it works so perfectly for you too!
-
It is SOOO soft! And the straps are convertible. The wires encapsulate perfectly on me. AND....drumroll...even though it's a sports bra I still have two boobs! Lol. I'm guessing for larger cups it might not be fantastic for high impact, but I think it will work well for cycling. And sleeping!!!
Now if only I could find another one on sale or ebay.... -
Dulcigirl - I got the same sports bra too. I really like it. It was recommended to me by a mastectomy specialist at nordstrom. Did you have to go down a cup size? I normally wear 32DD but she gave me 32D. I have it on right now to try, just to make sure that it's not too tight and I dont need to go up to 32DD. I also like the Shock Absorber Bra that Val recommended. Those are my 2 favorites.
Anyway, I went to see my PS this morning for my 1 month check up. He said initially "no underwire". But I told him that around 2-3 weeks post surgery I could feel my left implant moving around inside the pocket, so I got myself fitted with a bra. I showed him my Natori Feathers Plunge Bra and explained to him that it holds my foobs in place really well and I did not experience since then the movements. To make the story short, he agreed with me. Before I left the office he said I could wear anything as long as it's comfortable
Yes!!! More underwire bra shopping
Freya Pollyanna doesn't fit me. I got the 30E but the cup is a little lose. I'm afraid if I go down to DD the cup would be too narrow. Their padded balcony bra fits me really well in 30E.
-
Basic article on bra size. Most of us were wearing wrong size. Don't freak out when you get properly fitted.

Thanks for posting. Great article and loved the link to this blog that was included: http://www.thelingerieaddict.com/ (especially the "fun undies" featured. If you click to more in the section, don't miss the Wonder Woman ones.
