MRI guided biopsy

Can someone describe this procedure for me? I am high risk. I alternate mammo and MRI every six months. My last mammo was clear but the MRI showed a 7mm well marginated spot, "likely benign fibroadenoma" but appears slightly more enhanced than last MRI. They called it birads 3 but I insisted on a biopsy (my poor mom is in her last days with stage iv bc). They are doing the biopsy basically to calm me down. It will be MRI guided. I had a biopsy 6 years ago, ultrasound guided. How is this procedure different? Thanks.

    I had an MRI guided biopsy last week. Basically, you are face down with the one breast hanging ( my right breast was squashed up against a plate) They will compress the breast that is hanging between a flat plate and a grid. The doc uses the grid to determine where to do the biopsy. Then you go into the MRI and they will inject contrast dye to figure out the area to biopsy. Then they pull you out and the doc will look at that grid and be sure exactly where the needle will go. He had to put me back in the MRI again just to be sure. Once he was sure of the location, he numbed the area through the grid (I think because I was still face down etc). Then he inserted the needle and sent me back into the MRI to be sure it was the right spot. It was, so I was pulled out and he did the biopsy. I strongly recommend Valium - it made it all much more bearable.
