Hello!



I am 29 years old and recently tested positive for the BRCA 2 mutation, and just had my first mammo and MRI today. I wanted to write a quick post to let anybody out there looking for comfort about going for these tests for the first time. Both the mammo and the MRI were not nearly as bad for me as I had heard about.



I definitely did my share of research online before going in for the procedures today, even watching you tubes of women getting mammograms, so I knew just what to expect.



My advice if you're scared and putting these tests off, is definitely to go get them done! Talk to the technicians, tell them you're anxious and they will walk you through it. I also recommend going to an imaging center where they solely do mammograms. I live in Pittsburgh and went to Magee women's hospital, and the mammogram center was so nice. Soothing music playing in the waiting areas, and all.



Please let me know if you have ANY questions about the specifics of the procedures. I just want to give all of you out there, who, like I was up until yesterday, browsing these discussion boards looking for some comfort about these procedures a little bit of reassurance that it is not all that bad!



Now onto waiting for the results!

    I'm 24 and tested positive for BRCA2 mutation. I had a MRI last week and was notified today they found some density spots and a mass on the outer left quadrant. They request a urgent biopsy and I am very nervous! I just feel so young. Although my mother was diagnosed at 37yrs young and lost her battle 9 years later. I'm just very uncertain but yet very appreciative that my doctors are so proactive! I recommend every woman to get the test done! Age doesn't matter!

    Thanks for starting this.  I found a lump last December.  I put off getting it checked because years ago i thought I had found a lump and it was a cyst and my doctor found it and didnt even test,  Said it was just because my breasts are large and dense.  

    The one i found in December is prominent now.  Bigger, and it makes me nauseated to touch.  Not painful but really uncomfortable.  it is about 1.5 cm in diameter. I went to the doctor yesterday for an annual exam which i havent had since 2010 due to insurance and procrastinating.  The doctor felt it for a few minutes.  And when I sat up asked me if I had breast cancer in My family.  My grandma was diagnosed when she was 30. and died 24 years later surviving 10 of those in stage 4.  He immediately took me out to set up a mammogram for tomorrow.  

    I have really bad heath in general.  Endometriosis since age 13 and on BC.  Was on many different forms since then.  Developed very early.  I dont know if this even has any factoring into it.  My mom had ovarian cancer in her 30's and is cancer free right now.  I am trying not to freak out.  But it is really difficult not to.  Of course all my friends tell me not to worry because I am only 27.  But to me that is ridiculous to think that just because of my age i shouldnt worry, especially when the doctor seemed worried, they tend to do the opposite i have come to learn. And there are women, many of them here on this site you have BC and are in their late 20's. More than anything I want my fear to be validated. 

    The feeling nauseated when touching the lump, I havent seen or read anything on that? is it common (ish)
