And speaking of drains.....I had to pull my last hip drain today Surprised (something I thought I would never be able to do).  The suction stopped working, and my husband figured out that the drain had worked it's way out about 3 inches at my hip and was leaking at the drain site.  So out it came....

    Beth,

Was output low and drain ready to come out anyway?

Hope this hematoma thing goes away soon. Not to mention nausea and pain. My friend snatched my iron script and went and filled it because I had a look of noncompliance on my face. She's known me since i was 13. ...

Pink - you could always add liver to your meals of choice.  Of course, liver on a woozy tummy does not make a happy camper make.

    Liver? No way. :)

I just took iron pill and keflex after toast and tea. I got sick last night so dont know if it will stay down. Dr K asked if I eat red meat which I rarely do. Maybe a steak is in order. Back to bed

Have been out of town playing the last couple of days so finally getting caught up. Beth good for you on the drain. I havent had to pull my own yet  and hoping I don't have to. Pink, so glad you are happy with your outcome thus far and hoping you are now feeling a little bit better. I can completely relate, my last surgery was tough to bounce back from. Once your nausea is under control you will feel so much better, you know, every day gets a little easier than the day before. Once you are walking on the beach the healing will accelerate! Marty, you're next!

Pink, during chemo my blood got really low. They mentioned transfusion to me & gave me a few days to get my #s up. I realized then that I rarely ate red meat during chemo. I did not feel like cooking so we just either "made do" or picked up something. So I started eating steaks, hamburger, steaks & more steaks. I kept my number up the rest of the time.

So, maybe you need to eat some steaks!! I just could not do liver, either, but they toldf me it'd be the best thing....but I figured I'd just eat steaks.

I had to take iron pills once before & they upset my stomach. So, beware of that.

It's hard to get better when you have nausea, so maybe that will stop.....my mother always drinks buttermilk and later has a shot of blackberry (apparently the only kind that works) wine!! She is 74 & can out work me and people half may age & Is rarely sick...so maybe she is onto something!!

Pink - I pray you have turned a corner on the nausea and the hematoma is starting to resolve. I see the weather in Charleston is warming up, so hopefully you feel up to some sunshine therapy!

Thanks all. I see Dr Kline tomorrow for unplanned follow up.

I had a massive hematoma six days post mastectomy and had to go back in surgery to get opened up again to have it removed. I'd rather have surgery to get over with instead of this wait and see. I am pitch black from breasts down to past crotch to top of legs. Huge bulge under drain causing lots of pain. Drain is down to 90 cc daily

The breast lift of radiated breast is screaming, too. The cording surgery doesn't seem to be

a prob yet but i have to keep my right arm somewhat passive until i see PT-CLT here.

Beginning to think Stage 1 was easier!

Sunny and 77 today so sat outside for a while. Definitely helped lift my spirits. :)

Pink where do you have the drain or drains? Was stage 2a as bad? What did he wind up doing on this one?

On the NOLA site it seems that the 2 week time frame it's easier for post stage 2. So hoping you are feeling better!

    Healing hugs

Marty,  I've been MIA a lot these days do to too much on my plate, but I see you are up soon and wanted to wish you a great surgery, great outcome and easy and quick recovery.

To all you other gals, I have a lot of catching up to do, but wishing you all well.  Pink, sounds like something I went though, i.e., hematoma, black, purple and blue, etc.  Take care.  Beth, I had a drain that just fell out on its own, so maybe it was just ready.  Do you still have one more or was that the last one?

Linda - what happened to retirement?  Becky just called and told me that Dr. M has a family emergency and can't do surgery on Friday.  I will see her this afternoon for pre-op, though.  They are working on rescheduling me for next week.  And I just got all the grocery shopping done.  I am concerned for her.  Hope it is one of those minor emergencies.

Thanks Catie and Sewanee, preliminary reports look good. Have had so much done to my natural breast these last few years, implant in, implant out, lift...that there was bound to be some questionable images, but seems ok and back to a 6mth check. Still have the Kidney unidentified mass, but it is small and has not changed in a year, so they do not seem concerned. I just hate the waiting part as my mind sometimes goes to the scary place.

Marty, Any word on the reschedule?

Cascader, thinking of you and hope kidney mass is benign. When do you get definite answer?

My MRI done in Charleston for SGAP vessels also found 'innumerable' cysts on my liver and kidneys. Was told okay, but i dont like them there anyway.

I had kidneys scanned 8 years ago, because my dad and uncle had/have PKD-polycystic kidney disease. At that time nothing showed up on my kidneys.

    MartyJ,

Hope Dr M and family ok. Even though you in Charleston still a bummer on reschedule and hope new date works good too. So maybe would be nice to have Downey across the hall after surgery. :)

Like Sewanee idea of 2men+truck to move your chair.

I broke down and emailed Chris @ Dr. K's office and told her I felt like I was toting cement blocks on my chest. She asked about Valium & I reminded her that it made me loopy and I rambled on about my childhood and talked to my dog while on it. She called in another muscle relaxer. It is mild, but I must've been one big ole KNOT! I am sore after taking it but it's helped tremendously! I think I may recover now!

Pink, I hope you get on your feet quick from this!

MartyJ, hope you get rescheduled soon.

My next appt. is in May on Tuesday afternoon. I'm thinking of buying a groupon for Myrtle Beach for Sun - Tues & just driving in that morning.

    Sewanee,

I may PM you about hematoma. Oxy just kicked in so will probably zonk out momentarily. Will pm tomorrow.

Saw Dr K today. My friend could not get away from work so she had neighbor take me to appt. Still stuck with this bulge and pain of hematoma. He Wants to see me again on Monday before my PT appt. Said if I go have a CBC it will probably be low and 'they?' will want to transfuse me. Instead of surgery still wants to wait and see. I am crabby ....

Pink, yes, it was flexeril. YOu may have to break down on the liver and force it down! I think I would be more willing to down the red meat than be transfused, but I know it is screened much more now.  Sounds like you have a good friend with good neighbors!

Somehow knocked this thread off my favorites -- blame it on the oxy.

Someone asked about leaking after having lipo and fat grafting.

Dr Kline is my surgeon and he stitches up all the holes from lipo and fat grafting sites so no leaking in my case. (i also have NO compression garment maybe because I am thin and he also not big on it anyway, or just brief use)

Because of all the stitched up holes and other incisions, I am like a barbed wire fence. Dont bump into me. :)

The little barbs snag sometimes, so dont wear favorite lacies. I would trim the barbs but dont trust myself with a pair of scissors at the moment. Im not in a bra either but remember i'm small-B cup. I did wear that light surgery bra for five days.

Wearing camis (with no shelf bra) with light spring shrug sweaters, or button up camp shirts all of which easy to get on and comfy. I step into my camis.

My radiated breast had extensive revision and lift and had lot of suturing to create imf-inframmary fold.

My pain got out of hand yesterday so dr k sent a driver to take me to anesthesiologist/pain specialist. Did i spell that right my brain is toast. My friend not able to get me ride or get away from work.

I survived the pain block needles (sans xanax) and the awesome doc said to take the neurontin at night, which is a good thing because it literally plastered me to my bed and i slept 8 hours which is unheard of for me.

i feel better today but shakey. Will try to go to Flowertown Festival for a while tomorrow or sunday.

On monday my friend is taking me to see Dr Kline at 10, then down hall to see PT-CLT at 11:00. Then HOPEFULLY go down the road to Sullivans Island for lunch outside and a beach walk!!! And dont anyone tell me they serve liver at Poe's! :)

Having lunch of deli roast beef and a spinach salad to rack up my iron intake.

Not sure when im going home.

    Enjoy your weekend!

Good to hear from you Pink, but sorry about the pain level. Geez woman, you have been thru alot!

Is most of the pain from inframammary fold? Take it easy and listen to your body, don't try and do too much.

    Pink,

Hoping the pain was down (as well as a good night sleep) after the meds from the pain/anesthia doc? And the nausea?

Praying everything starts to get well soon!

    Hugs

    Cascader,

I have ton of pain there in right (IMF) and she did injection at a spot i pointed at. However, the really intense pain was at the drain hole which is in the middle of the big bulge where hematoma is under armpit/to the side of my radiated breast. When i was in hospital he pointed to my fold and said i was going to hurt alot there with what he had to do and because of radiation.

At stage 2a, he created the fold in my left breast and also told me then I would have discomfort. Which i did but in two weeks was fine. So had a fair amount of pain, but oxy controlled it.

So on monday i will be asking about 'the bulge' and also discuss my left breast with its precious fat injections and appearance thus far. I knew i needed at least a stage 2c and 2d for fat grafting and he's talking again about a different approach .... Also told me to keep eating fried chicken. :)

Dr K staff called to say he was in OR and wanted to know how i was doing. I also sent them all a thank you email for their help in getting me right into that pain doctors filled schedule, and for getting me there.
