Bilateral Mastectomy Decision

Thank you Suzanne! I will look forward to it!
I told my husband about the donations. His favourite place on earth is South America. He had a 3 month adventure there when he was 20, and had many amazing things happen on that trip. He still speaks fondly of the people there.
He returned to Australia, and 4 months before his 21st birthday he broke his neck in a hang gliding accident, and became a C5/6 quad.
He is an amazing man, and has made this journey for me, much easier than I would have expected it could be. His strength of spirit and determination are just amazing. His support and encouragement have made this adjustment easy for me.
I have been truly amazed by the women here on this site too. I have learned so much, and have been touched by so many stories shared.
You'd never guess we were all so far flung around the world, and are all experiencing this friendship through this medium.
I am so glad to have found this site and can interact with so many like minded women.

He sounds like an amazing man. Life is full of unexpected challenges. We have to remain strong for ourselves, for our partners and, after finding this wonderful forum, for all our "sisters" who are facing the same challenges. I continue my reconstruction process and with one baby step at a time I am getting through it and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I will share with you my journey (from my doctor's eyes) when he receives his donation. Please take care, my friend.

Suzanne and Ariom, I also feel so blessed to have come upon such compassionate and giving women! Fills my heart and keeps me moving forward in ways I never believed possible. Your sentiments regarding your fathers is so moving and deeply touches my soul. I am so grateful to have my Dad and Mom with me on this bc journey. My husband is an exceptional man, but my Dad is the root of my strength. He calls me his powerful little oak tree. And Suzanne, your PS is a true inspiration. Would love to help. Please let me know how I can contribute. Love and hugs to you ladies.....Kimberly

Kimberly,
How very kind and generous of you to want to help. I always considered myself a very giving person but this bc cancer has magnified that many times over. It feels so good to be able to "give back" and I know my dear ps will be so grateful.
My next visit with him is April 29 and at that time I will ask him more details on he and his colleagues charity in Peru. I like it because it is small, very personal and no huge administrative costs. Everything goes to helping the children who can't even afford socks and underwear.
I wish I knew more details at this time but his charity is new to me, also. I just met this dear man who I am fortunate enough to have as my ps during this unexpected challenge in my life. I will let you know as soon as I can. How very gracious of you. I wonder if he knows (he will know soon enough) how strong, compassionate and generous women are, especially "sisters" in the same journey, women who have never met but feel as though we have known each other all our lives. Actually, we have. My new life started over after breast cancer.
Give your wonderful Dad a huge hug and tell him we loved our Dads deeply and wished our "pillar of strength" was with us guiding us through our journey. I have a large picture of my Dad with me all the time.
I will keep you posted on more details the first week in May after I see my ps. My heartfelt thanks.

Ariom,
I saw my doctor yesterday and he gave me the web - site for his mission. He was touched, beyond words, with my contributions for the children. I know why he is my doctor and I also know we will have a continued association after my breast cancer journey is finished. This website is quite inspirational. Here goes: Programasanfranciscodeasis.com
My doctor is in the photo gallery. He is the one with the nice smile, glasses and his arms around a couple of nurses. He is a great doctor and a lovely man.
My journey is still going on but reaching the end. I will have my last procedure the first week in June. My implants have taken on a life of their own and not shaped very well. We have some repair work to do. I hope this is the last.
Thanks for your kind heart. -
Kimberly,
I saw my wonderful PS yesterday. He gave me his website. It is long but here goes:
Programasanfranciscodeasis.com
My doctor is in the photo gallery with the nice smile, glasses, arms around a couple of nurses. He was touched beyond words at my contributions so far. As you can see, the children are brave and beautiful. If you still want to help, it would be tremendous. You can use PayPal or send to MMK Plastic Surgery in Edina, MN. Tell him we breast cancer sisters breast cancer stick together and you have a new sister named Suzanne.
How are you doing? I have some repair work to be done the first week in June. My implants are not shaping up correctly so they need some tweaking. My healing is going well, I had my first chest wall exam and everything is clear so all is well. My journey is nearing the end but the blessings continue. Please take care and let me know how you are doing.

Ariom,
My plastic surgeon was very moved by my generosity. I am contemplating a volunteer trip to South America in January. Right now I am concentrating on getting the last stages of my reconstruction completed. I am doing a short 5k walk this Sunday and biking 50 miles in August for breast cancer. Springnhas arrived in Minnesota and all is well. I am a very lucky woman.
Suzanne -
That's fantastic news Suzanne! I am not surprised that he was moved, you're to be commended for taking this on, especially when you are doing all this too.
What an exciting thing to do, going to South America. I admire you!
I spent several weeks in Minnesota years ago when my husband was attending a seminar. It was a gorgeous place. I can imagine your Springtime is very colorful.
Take care now, I hope your reconstruction is finished soon, and you can really move on with this new chapter in your life. Isn't it amazing how many positive life changes can come from this cancer journey!
-
Ariom,
I never dreamed when this started that the blessings would outweigh the challenges. I am so very lucky because my story has a happy ending. I pray and walk and ride for those who wish they could but cannot. It is such a pleasure talking with you. I wish you all the best. You have such a kind heart.

Thank you so much Suzanne!
I too, am one of the very lucky ones.
I have felt a change since I started on this journey, all positive, but different.
I am so glad we crossed paths. .........Take care!
