Stage 1 Grade 2 No Cancer in Lymph Nodes

Hi All,  I had 2 small tumours and a mastectomy done 2 weeks ago. I just got my drains out and my pathology report is back and it is Stage 1 Grade 2 with No Cancer in any Lymph Nodes. Have to wait to see oncologist to see if any chemo is needed etc, just wonder others who have had the same outcome and what you have faced in the way of treatments etc. thanks

    Nslady......your doctor should send your tumor for Oncotype Scoring. My initial pathology was stage 1 grade 2. My final pathology was Grade 3. My Oncotype was 27 which is the high end of intermediate. 3 docs highly recommended chemo.

    two weeks ago lumpectomy. stage 1 grade 2 triple negative IDC. no lymph nodes involved. go in two weeks to cancer dr. can anyone tell me if i will have chemo and radiation. just scared.very small only 9mm.

    Stage 1 grade two oncotype 19.....no lymph node involvement ....radiation and have been on Letrozole for one year. Oh, and lumpectomy.

    I agree with rn...my initial path report was stage 1 but after the lumpectomy they found a micromet in the SN and I went up to Stage 2. Stayed Grade 1 but you just never know. Even my BS was surprised ONC ordered Oncotype test which came back at 11, smaller tumor and non-aggressive so I def support getting the test. And kitty...your bc is early stage so thats a good thing. Not sure about triple negative. Read posts from ladies that had that so you might want to find a thread that addresses that. From my understanding Grade 1 is supposedly the closest to being normal. Of course you are scared. Understandable but remember it isnt the death sentence anymmore. Also no nodes involved is also good. Your ONC will make the call about treatment. Your BS can give his opinion but ultimately its the ONC and you. Keep us posted but do check the thread that talks about triple negative. Sorry I really dont know. Diane

    nslady, I can't tell from your post whether the tumor was estrogen-receptor positive. That have a big impact on the treatment your doctor recommends. I was stage I, grade 2, node negative, but my tumor was highly estrogen and progesterone receptive. My oncotype score was 12, so chemo wasn't recommended for me.

    Stage 1 here - started at Grade 2, but moved to 2&3 (it actually says that on the pathology report) - no lymph node involvment but LVI which may or may not be an issue - Oncotype came in unexpected at 24....so my decision was the 4 rounds of TC, but that decision was mostly based on the LVI

    Hi nslady - I see you are in Canada, too, so most likely won't get the oncotype test done. It doesn't seem to be routinely done here in Canada. I am Stage 1, grade 2 with no node involvement as well.  I am 100% estrogen positive and 50% progesterone positive, according to the path report.  As others have mentioned your treatment will depend on your hormone receptor status.  Is that mentioned on your path report - either ER+PR+ or Er-PR-?  I had 16 whole breast radiation treatments plus 8 boosts targeted at the tumour area.  I have been on Arimidex for over 2 years as I am post-menopausal.  The oncologist was adamant that the benefits of chemo did not outweigh the risks, so no chemo for me.

    Best of luck! Stage 1, grade 2 has a good prognosis! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

    I was Stage 1a, grade 2, highly ER+ and PR+. Oncotype 7.

    I had a lumpectomy (oncoplastic surgery...a lumpectomy and then both breasts lifted) a year ago in January and then 25 days of rads. Then I did about 7 months of Tamoxifen but in the end, couldn't tolerate it so I've been done with all treatments since last Thanksgiving.

    So far, so good!!

    Moonlight60- I never knew they would do a lumpectomy on one breast and a lift on the other during the same surgery. I never would of thought that them removing a 1.9cm would make finding a bra to fit right almost impossible much less try and go without a bra and feel good about it in front of my husband, Not possible again.

    I was stage 1, grade 2. My oncotype dx was 3. No chemo. I tried the tamoxifen but could not tolerate it, so I'm not taking it either. Of course I second guess myself, it makes a 2 % difference. I have not done nips, and right now I don't plan on it. I have implants under the pec muscles. Yesterday I flexed my naked boob muscles for my husband and said "SHE RA!!", you know as in Princess of Power! I thought I was hilarious! Hey maybe I should change my BCO name to that!

    My genetic counselor who is very well known, said that oncotype trumps grade. He said grade is subjective to the pathologist.
