Hi nihahi, been up since 5.30 am as DH is road drilling !! wait til he gets up I dug one  of my gelaced nails ( like little daggers ) right in his back, that moved him onto his side, still raoddrilling.
Mug of tea calling so came downstairs. As you come into lounge we have a side light Edi leans forward to switch it on forgetting i have half a glass of water in crook of my arm. Splashing noise ensues, look down to see his mobile phone and spare change floating around on the side table.
Oh SxxT panic stations, wrap phone in kitchen towel, mop water off table, dry coins and put notes on radiator, they are now dry but a bit curly.
Everything replaced as if nothing ever happened, good job I watch criminal minds lol. Phone working too.
Thought of your DH in your kitchen making my little bit of hair stand on end.
Get a roll of sticky labels and put them on edge of shelves or inside cupboard doors. Better still photo contents of cupboards and stick pics inside doors. Did this with dishwasher when I went away on cruise with my bessie friend. Just wish I had done it on everywhere else.
When we did the bedroom I put masking tape labels above each set of his clothes, ie short sleeve tops, shirts, sweaters etc it WORKED now he puts everything back under right label and can find everything without the " Wheres me shirt ? " line.
Your DD is just being comfy with Mom and Dad just close the door on her room.  I rememer ED's room when she lived at home !!!! she would just step over piles of clothes, clean and dirty eewww, to get to her bed.
One day didn't have time to put clean bedding on her bed so left it in neat pile at foot of bed. Next morning looked in to wake her and she was sleeping on the bare mattress and pillow with uncovered duvet over her.
Now she has her own place only tiny bit better but house full of love and laughter, maybe when remo done she will become all neat and tidy.
My DH does the piles on cupboards bit too, followed by the " Why do we need so many mugs, dishes, tupperware " lecture. His shed is stuffed to roof with a million useless ( to me ) things and I keep quiet, also any spare cupboards full of drills screws etc.Tongue biting time.
Got blonde GD today as Mom Dad and her moving into other Nana's, she has dormer bungalow with spare rooms so they are going to live there for next six weeks or so to get away from dust.
Think I will take my own advice and get GD to help me label cupboards for when Papa does the crashing around kitchen bit.x

Liefie, replied re skype on pm. MEN !!! think they pass tips onto each other on how to freak us out.x

Where are all fellow warrior sisters ? xx

    Hi everyone !!!

Well I did it. U got thru Easter basically by myself. Cockroach showed up in the am for kids to do their thing. Said he was running to the store to get something and then sent a message saying he wasn't coming back. Didn't even say goodbye to the kids. His family came over feel so bad for them. He is not doing this gracefully at all !!! Nihahi - they don't know about the exterminator but they don't blame me one but thank god they are actually surprised I have hung on this long.

Edi- love the pictures!!!! Glad ur having so much fun !!! U deserve it.

    Criminal minds good job !!!!

    Traii-can't wait for those pictures!!!!

Movie- I am so not athletic i could never do any sport.... I don't know where my kids get it .... Lol

    Benny - happy birthday !!!!

Nihahi - hope you got some much needed sleep, it helps so much in dealing with all the other things like DD moving back in

Edi - love the picture of the GD's with the Easter Bunny, what joy! You are also Multi- talented re: cleaning up the scene of the crime;)

Traii - hope you got DS to bed and had some time to yourself to dry off after the bath ;). Yes, it's my birthday tomorrow. That is where Indon't think it was chance that Benny and I met. The first chemo I went to with her the nurse asked her birthdate and my jaw dropped. We were both born the same year and I missed April 1st by 30 minutes - as far as I am concerned that makes us twins.

Dakota - glad you made it through, maybe the cockroach leaving and staying away made it easier? Hope so. Sending hugs.

Thanks to all for voting - looks like my DIL won :).

    Happy Birthday, Benny!

    Hah....gotcha Websister....Advance Happy's to you too!

Dakota, it would be a wonder if the cockroach can even stand to look at himself in the mirror. So sorry for your kids, though, not even saying a proper goodbye/hug!!!!!! It's wonderful though that his family supports you. Wasn't it your daughter that was worried she wouldn't be able to keep connected to her cousin??? Sounds like your future still has a place for those people, cockroach excluded, of course.

How's your countdown coming? 11 days for us....what are the plans for your kids while you're in hospital and re-cuping?

My story is much like yours except all I know at this point is that I have DCIS. I am getting an MRI to find out more.

My prayers are with you. This site (I'm new to it as of only a few days ago) has already been such a blessing of support and information to me. I hope you find comfort in it as well.

    God bless you.

    Happy Easter my Breastfriends!!

I know I have been missing in action, sorry all, taking a well deserved cancer break!!

I read back a bit and Edi I was brought to tears reading about your meltdown in the kitchen. I think we have all done it. I think we are all suffering PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder. I think thats why I needed the cancer break. Your Grandaughter is a little beauty, you are so lucky to be living so close to her. Your bathroom looks awesome!!

Nihahi I wanted to tell you a while back you posted pictures of snowy owls, they were beautiful, those beautiful pictures have a calming effect. When my DH and myself got married 36 years ago he told me if a eagle flys over your car it means good luck, I don't know if it is true but it makes me feel better. I may have missed something, last I heard you were fighting with the alien boob, I hope you are feeling better, and good grief, I hope you can get a better sleep than 30 min....

Traii, I was thinking of you yesterday when I read in our newspaper that some guy who is a talented marathoner from Prince George, B.C., died in a Melbourne hospital after a tree branch fell on him during a storm. He was only 58 and fit as a fiddle, go figure! I bet Easter with your little guy was a blast.

Websister I hope your mom is doing better, and they didn't rush her back to the lodge.

Is the snow in Calgary starting to go, this was a horrible winter for us, we got tons of snow in February and March, It felt like everytime i had a appointment in town it would be a whiteout.....I told my DH I wasn't going to retire here in 3 years. I think we have agreed that somewhere on Van Island would be just right. I was meaning to ask about

the herceptin, I am having number 7 on April 10th, I just worry so much that my heart won't make it to the 17th one. My last muga scan had my number at 58. I started at 63. What number of herceptin are you on and what is your left valve ejection number. I will keep my fingers crossed that I can make it through all 17. I also had a young guy for rads, I actually have given up who is looking at my chest, it feels like everyone has!!

Liefie I am envying you on the island, I hope you are feeling well.

I have been watching the Jodi Arias trial for the last 2 months, it takes my mind off cancer, and I booked Disneyland for myself and my daughter and her 2 kids. We will be leaving Mother's Day for a week! We are super excited. This trip was cancelled last year as I was Dx a few weeks before the trip. We were going to RV down the coastline but this year we are just going to fly.

To all the girls on this site Happy Easter, may you all have a beautiful spring, we sure deserve it and some peace of mind. XOXO

First of all, happy birthday, Benny! My wishes for you are for many more years of good health, lots of energy, and lots of time with Diamond. Thinking of you every day, and willing good things to happen to you!

Second, Websister. I wish you a happy birthday tomorrow. May you be spared for your DH, kids and grand children many more years, may your energy return in heaps, and may you find yourself well and normal soon! Congrats on DIL's win! Yeah!!!!

Edi, will skype later today. So happy I'm going to 'meet' you!

Nihahi, good luck on DD's room. Best advice is to just ignore the mess, and keep the door closed. DS lived with us for 18 months until last May. That room was indescribable, like a bomb had exploded in there. Clothes knee-deep everywhere on the floor, no telling what is clean and what is dirty, dirty cups, bowls and glasses on the nightstands, empty snack boxes and bags, study material, unmade bed, smelly. . . Yuck! I sometimes had to physically restrain DH to go in there and start the mother of all fights. Sometimes I just went in, collected the crockery, and opened the windows for fresh air. Now that he has his own apartment, and paying the rent himself, the place is clean and neat. He even bought an extra IKEA cupboard with drawers to have enough room for his clothes, which are neatly sorted, folded and put away. So there is definitely hope. As for the good complexion, I was looking at myself in the mirror just yesterday. You know what the skin on a turkey's neck looks like? That's what came to mind. . . say no more. LOL. As Websister said on another thread, we are alive and well, so a few extra pounds or wrinkled neck is not going to bother us. Amen to that!

Dakota, so glad you had a good Easter with your family on both sides. I can see that you are moving on, and not allowing cockroach to affect you much any more. YES!!! It is also wonderful that his own family are standing by you. To me that just says it all. You go girl! We all love you.

Traii, are you getting excited yet? That family holiday sounds sooooo lovely! You so deserve it too! Will also google Philip Island - I'm very into islands - lol. Missed my kids this Easter weekend, but visits with friends and skyping with kids Friday night made it tolerable.

Welcome here, Laurie, and welcome back, Bearcub! We missed you. I am very well, thank you. That Arias woman is one cold-blooded killer . . . brrrrrrr! Glad it took your mind off the bc. I'm absolutely fascinated by the minds of people who can kill other people. Can't wrap my mind around that.

All the other girls, have a lovely Monday!

Welcome Laurie, these ladies are wonderful.

Happy Birthday wishes for Websister and Benny!

Dakota you remind me so much of my oldest daughter, she is 35 and going through the same as you, her DH is an ass. She is doing mediation for the legal separation they have lived apart since Dec. 2011...and she is still trying to get things worked out. I could not imagine her having to deal with BC and that. She did go for her first mammogram about 10 days ago and got a call back, had a Ultrasound, and is waiting the results. I am praying she gets a good result. The RO was leaning towards cyst. I will say you sound great and I think your frame of mind has you in a good place. You can do this.

I will say my next door neighbour called me about 10 days ago she also went for her first mammogram, (shes 48)..got the callback and now has been given a appointment with the surgeon and has to have a biopsy. I am praying she gets a B9 result.

Liefie you are so right, we are alive, I will live with my loose neck and tummy pouch. Yes, Jodi Arias is a psychopath, scary...I sure hope the victims family gets justice.

    Take Care All

    Welcome Laurie.

Edi and Liefie - that is so great that you will meet via Skype today. Enjoy your visit. Edi, you will get to see what a beautiful person Liefie is.

Bearcub - re: Herceptin - I just had number 8, 9 more to go. I have a MUGA scan on Monday, April 8th and then another visit with my MO on April 15 to discuss. I will ask her then what my LVEF is. My understanding is that they would consider stopping if it drops by 10 or more, but that being above 50 is good.

Mom is still at the hospital but she is quite anxious to convince them that she should be able to return to the lodge. She is more confused though. She was sure that I had visited her with two of my cousins on Friday and I hadn't and she was also sure that I had told her I had decided not to work anymore. I am hoping for a really good assessment both physically and cognitively followed by a good placement that provides the right amount of care for her so this pattern of falling and hospitalizations becomes history.

Traii - how exciting that your vacation is so close

Nihahi and Dakota - countdown to surgery for the two of you, put yourselves first right now as far as people you need to look after

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. I am looking forward to a much better year.

BEARCUB!!!! So good to hear from you again. Breaks sometimes are needed..and healthy! OMG what is going on with the callbacks from mammo's in your "circle"? Keeping all those ladies in my thoughts.

Laurie...as the others have said so well, sorry to meet you, huge hugs (((((((X)))))))) we will help however we can. There are some SPECTACULAR "breastfriends" on this thread.

Liefie....turkey skin...too funny, just about christened the keyboard with coffee again, just like back in the mooseball days of yore!

Traii...you have yourself an incredibly fun and terrific holiday with hubby and son. Yes, you and your whole family have earned it, big time!

Dakota....you can do anything, gal! Exchange surgery....snap....after what you've been through! I agree with Websister, though. It is ok to put yourself at the head of the list, every now and then. I went out for a long walk today, just shut the door on daughter's "stuff" and left. Tomorrow it is supposed to be even nicer, Wednesday, back to the cold, snowy/rainy crap....enough already!!!!!!

Edi...what's up buttercup????? Are you eating Benny's cake all by yourself?????

So proud of myself. My technologically clueless self succeeded in adding myself on Edi's skype, and then she called me. Finally we got to see each other! Thanks, Edi- it was just amazing to see and talk to you. Will skype again soon!

Websister, thanks for your kind words. Feeling is absolutely mutual! So sorry to hear about your mom's confusion. It is so sad when that happens, when you see them slipping, and you have to stand by helplessly, and watch the decline. Hugs to you!

Traii, I googled Philip Island. What a fascinating place with its penquin population! Also made sure where Melbourne is situated, so I know where in Australia you are. And oh, I'm sure your parents say their DD is the best - you are a perfect example of positive thinking on this board, dear Traii! They must be so proud of you!

Bearcub, sincerely hoping for positive outcomes for your DD and neighbour. Too many women are struggling with this disease!

Nihahi, glad you could 'shut that door' and go for a long walk. Nothing like that to clear your head. Hugs from the turkey. KULU KULU KULU!!!

    Hello all my lovely ladies!

It sounds as though all had wonderful weekends(even the cockroach cooperated-but not saying goodby to the kids...what an arse!) I cooked for my DH, my 96 year old Mother Edith, my DD and her DH and 5 children.  I didn't get to cook a St. Paddy's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage, so since I was doing the cooking, I got to choose the menu.......I had to explain to the GKs that corned beef is a "little" like ham (lol) and that the Easter Bunny likes cabbage and carrots.....  In the end, they loved it, and I made a peach cobbler for dessert.  Defo. not typical Easter fare, but everyone loved it, so I guess that's okay. It is the first time I have really cooked for a larger group since surgery, and I was exhausted afterwards

Nihahi, did you get some decent sleep last night?  When my DH starts "road drilling", as Edi describes it, I just very undelicately kick him super hard and fast.....he wakes with a start, but by then I am safely pretending to be sound asleep with my back to him.....he sits up and looks at me sleeping so soundly, and then turns on his side and goes back to sleep....works like a charm every time!Laughing        Wow!  your SX date is fast approaching.....excited for you to be on the other side. as far as kid-debris goes, I am like Edi and Liefie....I just have to shut the door when the kids are in one of their "living at home" stages, otherwise I would have to be committed.....

Edi, love your sweet family-those GDs are so cute!  I have 5 GKs...only one GD.  Makes me sad!  She is always wanting to come over for a sleepover.....I havent been able to have her since early January b/c of my surgery.....I am finally starting to feel like 60% of myself, and on  Easter I promised her a sleepover date sometime in the next few weeks. I wanted her this coming weekend, but she is in ballet, and is taking the Royal Academy of Dance exam for level 2 on Saturday, so she said she would have to take a "rain check" - her words not mine.  ( I thought I was going to burst an incision stitch or two with that one, I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud.....) Kids are so funny.

Traii, I would imagine that you would be beautiful no matter the length of your hair-your avatar photo is lovely.  You are so lucky to have such a supportive family surrounding you-with all you do-work, take care of a little person ( your DS), cancer treatments.....and you are so upbeat!  you are amazing-hope you really enjoy your time away from the "everyday" on Philip Island.  You promised Penguin pics.......   Smile

Dakota, it does sound as though your weekend went well.....isn't it nice to know that cockroach's family support you?  They know what an Arse he is!  You amaze me as well-with everything on your plate, you remain positive, and you are totally involved in your children's lives-that's very impressive to me.  I love your sweet smile on your avatar- a beautiful person inside and out!

Websister-so glad your DIL won!  She deserved to!  I voted as often as it would let me.....I'll bet she is thrilled to have won!  Now I (sort of) know someone who has won something!  How is Mom?   was she able to enjoy Easter with you yesterday?  I am going to wish you an early "Happy Birthday" too.....in fact, why not just start celebrating a day early?  You surely deserve to!  Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Liefie, I'm glad your Organ playing was a success- as you said, 20 years....but honestly, I could play for 20 years, and it would still be the same old refrain.....frozen fingers!  Anyone that can play organ is impressive in my book! You are getting all techno on us.....you and Edi skyping!  lol  Smile  If you ever get down here to Portland, I'll meet you (in person)!  I am going to just show up on Edi's doorstep one morning....scare the he** out of her....

Bearcub-nice to hear from you! I just live to the south of you a few hundred miles or so.....Laughing I hope you have a wonderful trip to the Magic Kingdom with your daughter and her kids....sounds like so much fun!  I would love a break from this cancer stuff.....but I am due for more surgery sometime in the next few months....kind of puts a damper on the planning....Frown  Tell me, are you a black, or a brown bear cub?Wink  I am partial to Brown (Grizzly) bear cubs myself.......

Laurie-welcome to the very best group on the boards!  These ladies are the best! I too, had "just" DCIS, but as you can see by my signature, I had both breasts removed....the post-surgical path. report said I also had DCIS in the "clean" breast.....breast cancer is a b***h.....no matter what stage you have, it's still cancer.  I have had some down days, and these wonderful warrior sisters have been there to pick me up and put me back on my feet! I would be lost without their support......

All the rest of you wonderful ladies-take care, and have a great day!

Last, but not least, a Happy Birthday shout out to Benny, whose post started all of this, and whom I have yet to be on the board with at the "same" time......I hope you are doing well, and that your treatments are going smoothly....I really do wonder about you, and would be so happy if you popped in to tell your good friends here that you are doing okay......any woman who can handle a horse had my vote!Smile

Tomorrow I am going to the airport to pick up my DD who lives in Japan.....she is home for a 3 week (only) visit.....will be nice to see her, but I will find the time to check in with you all.....you're my "breastfriends"! XO

Namaste and God Bless - Jackie

Crossing posts----they're flying fast and furious!!!

Websister....so hard about Mom, been there..no easy answers, in the end, you want them safe and as content as possible.

Movie.....BACK THE TRUCK UP!!!! What other surgery????? Unless you're referring to a stage 2, then I can breathe again....! Love the Easter menu, sounds yummy and exhausting! There's a new lady on the Diep 2013 thread who I think could use your help???? Similar dx, I think, maybe not. You've probably already gone over there while I'm typing this, just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Websister....I may be in the minority here, but I think there's a time for gentle hugs, and a time for a gentle "kick in the arse (to quote Movie)". If you connect with Benny, my vote would be the gentle arse nudge to get her back to some supportive craziness on this thread. She created us, we owe her so much, and we miss her. Plus, seriously, if she doesn't come back soon, it'll take her another century just to catch up!!!!!! IMHO!!!!!

Moviemaniac, how lovely that your DD is coming home from Japan tomorrow to visit you - ENJOY!!! There's nothing better than a child coming home! My son once lived in Thailand for a few months doing an internship, and it felt as if he was on another planet. Re organ playing, I took it up in 1992, and practised 4 hours every weekday for about 3 months before I felt remotely ready to play in a church. Fell in love with it from the word go, so it was not hard to do. Had done lots of piano training and exams, which is sort of a prerequisite for pipe organ. In the beginning when I had to play in church, I almost died of sheer nervousness. For the first few months I had an upset stomach every Sunday morning - LOL - and DH used to tease me about it . . . Honestly don't know how I made it through that phase. It was rough! As the years went by, my nerves calmed down, and I learned how to control it. Now I just enjoy myself thoroughly, and feel so blessed that I can bring people joy in that way, doing something that gives me such pleasure. There you have the whole story. Will be lovely to meet you! I've been to Portland, but only saw the airport - lol.

Websister, I hope you are being spoiled thoroughly today - nobody more deserving than you!

Edi, those cakes are too beautiful! I always really admire people who can do that! Got a cake story that you will appreciate. On DD's wedding day last summer the lady who made the wedding cake was bringing the cake to the venue to set it up herself. She had to cross a mountain pass to get there, there was an accident in the pass, and she was stuck there for two hours. It was hot, the 4-layer cake began to melt, layers were sliding down etc. Eventually she arrived at the reception venue when the ceremony was already under way off at another part of the farm. Poor woman was in tears, but she valiantly struggled to put the cake together again, like the hapless Humpty Dumpty. It looked a bit battered when we saw it, and we couldn't understand that the cake looked nothing like what was ordered. Only heard the story afterwards. I felt so sorry for her, because I can just imagine her predicament as that cake was slowly disintegrating through no fault of her own, and there was nothing she could do. She gave us a big discount, and I think she will stick to her side of the mountain in future. Poor soul!

How does a glass door explode on its own? Really? Reminds me of a houseworker I once had who burned/ruined a beautiful blouse of mine when ironing it. When I asked her how it happened, she said that the iron just all of a sudden grabbed the blouse . . . LOL! Naughty iron.
