LOL!  Ya'll make me laugh and made the boobs jiggle!  TMI!  The first session went well.  I felt slight tenderness around the breast bone.  The adjustments they made while I was on the table made me nauseous.  Other than that it was fine.  I just took a shower and felt that the armpit area is a bit sore.

I am still here and reading through the pages of posts I missed. I haven't been postin  ecause I can't ever catch up so I'm skipping ahead. I can't sleep. I'm nearing the end of my rads and I am in so much pain. The underneath fold is torn open and weeping. They gave me today off to try and heal before they give me the last 5. I don't think it helped. It hurts like hell, the stinging. I've got silverdene and feels so moist and the nurse said I should keep it dry so I put on cornstarch and the dry ness makes it hurt more and pull. I have to use a mirror to look at it and it so gross under there. I don't know what to do with myself. I got up and took another pain pill. My kid is going to up soon and I have slept at all. I have to go in the afternoon for the treatment tomorrow, well it's pretty much later today. My harddrive crashed on my laptop so am borrowing DH's til it comes back in 3-5 days. I think this post is going to be one long whine. Honestly, this is not even close to as bad as the pneumonia & the chemo. At least my head is clear & I can breathe. Spring is coming, I know it is and there are better days ahead for all of us.

I want to go see the ponies swim. I wish I could see a whale.

Thank you to anyone who read that. I am grateful for your posts & your strength. Back to lurking.

Queen - when you join the FB page you will see my "angry boob" which was at the end of rads and my "happier" boob only 1 week after.  I healed very quickly after treatment stopped.  It has been 2 weeks now and almost all the redness is gone.  Still itchy and my muscles are still tight - but I stretch them daily.

Washington--The second session went by quickly.  They also warmed up the bolus a bit which was helpful.  I don't see anything yet, since it is still early, but I'm feeling the tingliness.  I slathered myself with aloe vera the minute I get into the dressing roo.

Queen--I'm so sorry your rads are hurting so much. You are almost done and then on to bigger and better things.  Sending you prayers for healing and a cyber hug.  I am going to swim with the manatees this winter!  That is what I'm looking forward to.  Crazy?  Yep!  But that is what's keeping me going.

Queen, I'm sorry the rads are so bad. Have you tried the saline compress? That helped me while it was on. I also bandaged myself up pretty completely once I put on the silvadene, which reallyhelped a lot. The rubbing from my clothes was harsher than I realized. But nothing works likes those blessed opioids. Rads was possibly the worst pain of my life. But once it starts healing it does progress pretty quickly. Sending you healing thoughts and very gentle hugs...

re swimming ponies...are you planning a trip to Chincoteague? (Sorry if you already mentioned that and I missed it.) That sounds so wonderful and magical.

    Hi!

Thank you all for your kind words. You all are fabulous!!!

They sent me home with no rads today after a 3 hour wait, lots of problems there today which is unusual. Frown They want me to wait because I am too burnt. I am sitting in front of a fan writing this having taken a mashed up pain pill in apple sauce with SS on the underside of my boob. My kids starts back to school tomorrow & I am told I must wait til Thurday or longer to continue. I'm going to that FB in a moment.

Florbo going to swim with the Manatees & I want to see the ponies. Yes, in Chincoteague! We were supposed to go last year but I found the lump and all those grand plans changed so I could start treatment. Did you know Manatees are mermaids? At least that is what I heard. How I long to swin in the ocean. Where does one go to swim with Manatess?

ToastieCat, I have not tried the saline compress. I soak bandages in saline and place them on my breast? Where's the recipe? I am going to try this tomorrow. I'll get over to the pharmacy. What do you mean wrapped up after Silvadene? Whatever it it, it sounds like a good idea & something that might help. I'm going to do a search.

I'm not supposed to exercise & make sweat for a few days to help it heal. Feeling fat & not wantiing to break my walking routine but ok.

Glad you found the recipe! Hope it helps.

When I was using the silvadene, I would slather it on really thick (using a few q tips) and then cover what the biggest gauze pad I could find, around 5 inches square. It you open up the fold on one side you get twice the coverage. It took 2 - 4 to cover the whole area. Then I would use paper tape to tape the bandages down to unburnt skin, or if you can stand the tightness on your skin, a tank top with a built in bra might be enough to hold them in place. Or you could also wrap an ace bandage around your whole chest, which is what a friend of mine did.

Queen--swimming with the manatees is over in Crystal River, FL.  It's about an hour north of Tampa.  I was suppose to go in May, but then found out that I wouldn't have the experience I'm hoping for because the manatees leave the area around the end of February.

Cindy - great news that rads is being so kind to you. What cream are you using? Or perhaps it is simply that different people react differently. I have had 11 treatments and only a bit itchy so far - keeping my fingers crossed. I am using lubriderm in the morning and kukui nut oil at night on my breast to moisturize.

My radiology oncologists said not to use anything but 100% aloe cream  without scents or additives..Had trouble finding it.  Walgreens and Publix pharmacy didm't have it.  Finally found  one kind at health food store and another at Eden salon in Hospital.  One is called Aloe Vera and the other is Alra.  Both were expensive-- about 8$ for 4 oz.  The Alra says 100% Aloe Vera gel, and I think it is the one the Dr. prefers.  The other says "pure aloe vera" but the label is not as clear of what's in it.

Had 16th rad today.  Have been feeling better daily--I think still from the chemo.  Every 5th rad day, they take xrays to be sure treatment is going right area.  Today it seemed to take more than twice as long and my legs started cramping.  Lying so still with my arms over my head is hard for me.  Usually it's less than 10 minutes from the time I get on the table.  So today it was probably 25 miniutes.  I told them my legs were cramping and they said if I moved they would have to start all over.  It was finally over.

Then, on the way home I remembered.  I have been feeling guilty that I have not been exercising.  Most of the time if I get up and get dressed and maybe walk around the yard and up and down the stairs once, I am exhausted.  So this morning for the first time since January 1st, I did 2 miles in 15 minutes on the recumbant stationary bike my husband's brain doctur urged him to buy and use.  Won't do that any more on x ray day.

No real skin changes yet.  Not pink or hurting.  Hugs

cindy - keep on doing what you're doing. Rads seem to be going really well for you - I am so glad about this, especially when I read about some women getting such bad burns and blisters. You must be almost halfway there now!! Remember when you exercise, to do little and often - this is better than doing a lot and then being pooped!!

Cindi so happy for you that rads is going well!...

It is interesting that most of us Sept. girls are fast approaching our 1 year anniversary since DX. I know I am going for my first mammogram since DX the end of May. I imagine I will have anxiety going in. It was the end of May last year that the Radiologist basically said it was picture perfect BC, but I didnt get the official pathology until June 12. We have all come so far, this damn disease sure does create havoc in our lives. Not a day goes by that I don't think of cancer.

We are strong though, and coming out the other side. We have been bald, sick, sore, but we have been there for each other. I hope you are all doing well.
