Pain in reconstructed breast, mammo and ultra sound okay..

Options

I have had stabbing pains in my reconstructed breast(diep flap side that had the cancer) I had and ultra sound and mammo done and nothing showed. I should have asked if the ultrasound could see anything on the chest wall, never thought to. Anyone have recurrance to chest wall that presented with pain and what tests were done? I have terrible insurance(high deductable) and already owe my onc money. I also have hip and thigh pain on the side on of the non cancerous breast. Am I crazy? Guess you never get over the worry.

I don't think you're crazy, we all understand. I do have a question though....my ps and bs told me I would not have mammograms ever again. With implants, I'd be having breast MRI's. I think with a breast MRI they would see the chest wall? I don't know. I guess I'm wondering if it's common to have mammos with a reconstructed breast?

I have not had a mammo in three years, they just did one because of the pain. They don't recommend them for Diep or tram flap reconstruction. I do have ultrasounds every six months but I will ask about an MRI.

D4Hope-The boards are always a little quiet on the weekends and today is still a school holiday so many women with kids are probably off the boards. I'm sure that you'll get more responses!

I get sharp pain in my SGAP breast that was radiated. My RO think that it is from radiation but I think that sharp pains could also be like the phantom pain that amputees get. There's nothing scientific about that but it's my best guess.

I get yearly MRI's now and think that it is the best imaging study to look at the chest wall so agree that you should talk to your doc about that.
