Fredntan, lol bowels are fair game too!!

My dog ears are at either end of my tummy incision. Kinda looks like, well, dog ears coming out of my tummy!!

I'm actually feeling excited about my new look now that I know they can lower the scar. I was so PO'D about the whole thing, numb boob and belly and the scar that is gross and unhidable in a bikini. I know it's a year away, but I can't wait for stage 2!!!

My scar is right above the pubic hair line. Too bead I'm too fat for a bikini. I just love food so darn much!! Here's to Maoism babies and intestines to add to our list!! And fou d out my boobies were accepted into the journal of medicine because they completely removed my nipples and put them back on..... so that really makes them seen by many!!! :-/

You guys are cracking me up! I don't have the hooha problem and couldn't figure out what Maoism babies were, but enjoyed the posts! Lol! Btw my autocorrect just changed hooha to hookah! Sheesh. Well while we're on embarrassing topics, I finally figured out why my abs have bothered me intermittently. There's a direct correlation with those frisky days with hubby. I guess we may need to figure out a better way. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution?!

Backers... I was wondering WTH a Maoism baby was in re to you lol and congrats on your boobs!!!!

Cg, my "problem" is in the upper area. Although I don't have nipples, the nerves that were cut have to root somewhere. Well, I found them during massaging my tissue lol. What an evening that was... Trying to mine to DH that the 'wizard' was coming lol in front of my 20 and 10 yr old boys!!!

    Oh the joys!!

Luanne, the boobs may calm down by a couple of months. Haha!

Fran when is your stage 2 date? I think mine will be late next month or early may. I am looking forward to nipples and appearing more normal too. DH doesn't pay much attention to them either so hope it helps. You'll do great...you've gotten through the toughest parts already but we can all understand the concern of facing yet another procedure when you've had such a long journey.

Btw Rebecca, so cool you are a scientific advancement! Now others may get offered that option more!

next wed-april 3-I'm not worried about the sx. actually looking forward to it. its just been such a long f ing journey-started july 2011. I want my normal back.  unfortunately dh just can't look at my body yet. he is pretty squimish. sigh. i'm 46 and sex has been well not very much.

then i've got this pain in my breast. think its getting little worse. my PT for year has been exhausted. mine has funny clause that you have 8 week window to fix each problem. and the PT's here in fredericksburg VA have been very disappointing. they spend hour showoing you the stretching and then less than 5 min on actual work on you arm.

I think the pain got worse a few weeks ago. I went to trainer with my sister. I overdid it. the soreness is gone. but breast still feels tight. I stretch. and then my hand feels colder than the other. I have one of those flexitouch massager things. I don'tthnk I have LE. I will measure today. I really think its the nerves. feels like nerve pain. I know I need to find a PT that will do Myofacial release. maybe after this next sx I can work it out with insurance co for more PT. and will just have to travel again to find good PT person

Cg, I feel like I should put the word out here somewhere on BCO so girls know its possible. Maybe once it is published. (Hard to see my ugly nakedness though but I am happy it will help women who can save their nipples.) Usually they just stuff the pouch for skin and nipple sparing. They reduced mine and repositioned them. I had even had one areola cut during a previous lumpectomy and it still lived. I'm pretty fortunate. So glad maybe something good can come out of something bad.

hi ladies --I've been a lurker on this board, but who can resist commenting on hoohas!?  Laughing  Thank you for raising that issue on this board.  I had my BMX with immediate DIEP reconstruction about 3 weeks ago and in the hospital, I wondered why I was so, um "pointy" down there.  My flat hill had suddenly a pointy peak!  It's gone down a bit, but these discussions have made me realize that all the tummy tuck part caused it.  I would've never thought to ask my PS that question, glad you did!

I've also come to ask you if any of you had this issue -- I have some fat leftover in each armpit area (imagine women wearing bathing suits and the little fat hanging from the front next to the armpit).  At first, I thought I would need fat grafting to fill in some dimples/divots on each side right above the flap.  However, my PS said all it really needed was for him to lipo the fat from next to the armpit (he had some fancy medical term for the fat part I can't remember).  Have any of you had that done in your Stage 2?

Beckers, please post the link to the paper when it's published. I would very much like to read it. Medically it's a fascinating break through, but why is it necessary to cut off the nipples completely and put them elsewhere? With my bilateral NSM with DIEP and I would not want to move the nipples anywhere else.

It's a beautiful day today. Happy Easter everyone!

Tammy, I don't necessarily know how to answer from a medical standpoint. What I can tell you is mine were sorta staring at the floor. Ha! They often do it when women get elective breast surgery. It had never been done for BC, as far as my surgeons could tell.

Oh, beckers, I dont really know the medical side, but figure if the paper gets on the journal of medicine, it's got to be a significant contribution :-) Thanks for the answer.

Fran - get some probiotics to take a few hours after the antibiotics.  Should help some.  Pointing up? Really interesting.

Since I can't have flaps done, I've consulted with multiple PS to discuss potential options, etc.  I keep coming back to the decision that I will do no more recon attempts.  Instead, I'll go with my first decision after the Diep attempt, which is to remove the excess skin and be flat.

Additionally, I'll go to Vinnie once am healed up well and get the tattoo 3D nips as some bling on for the visual aspect.  I've got to think it has to help with esteem, etc.

Can anyone who has had pre-rads diep tell me if they went on to have or are planning on having implants as well? And what the outcome was or is expected to be.

I'm done rads tomorrow and although my recon has help up well, I think I'd like to go a bit bigger once everything settles

    Hi there,

I am having a lot of ulcers inside my mouth right now. This is the second time I am having them post-op. The first time was 3-weeks post DIEP and they lasted over a week. It's been a week now, most of them are still here. I am not sure if this is related to having BC and having surgery. I went to see my gp and she gave me some dnetal past to put on, but I have so many of them... Any suggestion anyone?

Tammy, I'm so sorry to hear you're suffering like that. I'm sure you've tried it but how about the salt/peroxide rinse. I can't remember the recipe but its something like 1cup water 1tsp salt and a few drops peroxide. I'm sure you could find it by googling. It helped me with the chemo sores Hope you get relief soon!!

Good afternoon ladies, just wondering if anyone that has had stage 2 completed ( nipple reconstruction) can tell me what prodecure was used.

Yesterday I had a consultation with my new PS at Memorial Sloan Kettering (she is the only PS affiliated with my insurance).

When she looked at my breasts her comment was " WOW, they look fantastic, who did the reconstruction?"

Anyway, just as I had expected I am NOT in need of any revisions, but she suggested a skin graft from each side of my tummy tuck incision to do the nipples. She said that since the flaps were so perfectly round, she felt that just cutting in the center to construct the nipple would  cause the flap to pull orizontally and eventually look oval instead of round.

So, whatever skin she gets from the tummy tuck scar,  about 1" from each side, will be overlapped on the existing flap to form the nipple. At least that is what I understood!

It will be an outpatient procedure and that I can't wear a bra for at least two weeks, only loose clothing, must keep the breasts dry  and covered with a dressing she will give me.  Recovery will be about 6 weeks, meaning taking it easy, doing nothing strenuos.

Anyone had it done this way?

    Thanks,

    Mena

I had lipo to inner and outer thighs and some from my fat back. Took off my dog ears. Reduced the bigger one

and added some fluff to breasts

I am in misery. My thighs hurt when Imove. Have to be in this compression garmet for 2-3 months. Pain pills make me itch. Flying back to va from san antonio tomorrow. Thats going to be fun.

I'm so sorry you're suffering so, can't they give you anything else that won't make you itch?

Fredntan, have you tried Tramadol?  For some, it's less itchy than the narcotic-based pain meds.  Or ibuprofen with a benadryl or ativan, if you have it.
