Well, my tm's continue to steadily climb after my 6th round. So bummed as this has been no picnic. I have scans next week and then likely on to something new. Hoping this was going to be my magic bullet but alas it's not looking good. I hate cancer!
-
Bhd1 I had a single bone met. My pet was clean. If it had been up to my mo we would have gone straight to ph. The two rounds had been to please insurance and make me feel like we had given the nasty little bugger a kick out the door. I also had a suspicious spot on my lung. My mo wasnt ready to call it yet. It resolved so either way I'm happy.

Kingcour! Congrats! I am in the process of a move and have a new amazing man in my life so I have been away from the boards. I get scan results Wednesday. It will be my first scan since just the p&h. Am so nervous. I feel great, but I did before this nightmare started so who knows.
-
hi alicia. good to hear from you. sounds like your private life is going well! yay! my fingers are crossed and saying alot of prayers that the ph is holding yu steady. good luck. let us know. we care. barb
-
Does anyone else have headaches on tph?
-
Yes! Lots of headaches on just p/h. My onc thinks it's partially due to dehydration from all the perjeta big d. I was getting so many we scanned an got a clean scan, but head still hurts. I had some headaches before when I was on just herceptin for a year, but nothing like now.
-
Aic, that is exciting news about your romantic life, hoping you get good scan results!
I have headaches on p/h also and had a scan done that came back clear.
-
Does anyone have a hard time sleeping on this combo? To get to bed I have to have a Xanax or two coupled with a sleep med. I had chemo Tuesday and the side effects didn't hit me until Sunday. So strange. I leave for Florida Friday and I hope I feel better. The big d started today. Tomorrow I get possible neupugen.
-
thanks for the repsponses. i will have my second tx on thurs. so far. no diarreah. do you think i will escape it? i am have alot of trouble sleeping thru the night. barb
-
I started Jan 28, 2013 - no problems so far.
-
bhd...
i am not so far ahead of you. I just had my 3rd Taxol / Herceptain. Nose constantly runs...sometimes bleeds (I found that using a neti pot daly - usually in the morning seems to help). My teeth are the strangest and clearly related to Herceptain. They dont hurt exactly and they are not numb but they feel rather strange. Particularily the frunt teeth (top and bottom). I have kept a medical journal for reference but so far all 3 treatments have had different or different degrees of SE. I thought there would be a pattern of some kind. The only thing that seems to be consistant is that day 4 is the absolute worst.
Someone asked about Metamusil earllier. My onc suggested it for either C or D and it has been great. apparently it binds the loose bits and helps move the tough bits so its a win win.
I think I will start Perjeta on my next treatment. Been having dificulty getting the drug but have a doctor (in speaking through nurses) who is supposed to meet me and give me the drug the same day. lets hope this is the case as I will have to drive about 6 hours to make this happen. I will have perjeta one day and Taxol/herceptain the next. A lot of travel involved but according the the thread I should be ok for bathrooms the day of treatment. Right?
I feel ok and am hopeful that the scans say the same. I should have one in a month or so I think. Assuming they are a wonderful as I think they will be...Then what...do they scan every now and again and I just wait for this nasty thing to come back. I know I will stay on H (and hopefully P) for at least a year if not longer and I have 3 more Taxols. Many of you have played this waiting game but i am just wondering what it looks like (and hoping my scan will be good....I think it will)
-
Leave for MDA tomorrow night with scans on Thursday. These are my post 6th treatment scans. My tumor markers are still steadily climbing so I know NED is not likely but hoping my liver is still clean and that my lungs are better. So bizarre that it may be a relief if all the problems are in my back....which has been bothering me. Better bones than organs. Anyway, I appreciate any prayers or well wishes over the next couple of days.
Thanks ladies! -
saying lots of prayers for you
-
I'll be praying for you bondgirl.
-
Thanks Ladies! I went for PT this morning and my lypmphadema which we had under control prior to the bottom falling out on all of this last year is back to normal percentages. Those with lymphadema issues will understand the joy of knowing your lymphadema side is almost the same size as the other. Anyway, taking that as the first good sign of the week!
For those of you that think your time on P/H/T may be drawing to and end and changing treatment, what do you think is the next step? This was my first line chemo at Stage IV so I have lots of options. I am pretty sure they will say TDM-1 or Xeloda/Tykerb. Anyone think they are heading in the same direction? Any thoughts or words of wisdom? My gut says TDM-1 since much less harsh but I know the disappointment of failing on that will be a tough one. Okay, banishing the negativity. What a ride!
-
Thanks for the well wishes... really appreciate you ladies. Pit in my stomach as 115 draws near. I will post back. Barb, I only had a couple bouts of the big d early on in my treatment so I think it is possible to escape it. Hoping that you do. Bondgirl, you will be in my thoughts!
-
Thanks everyone! I have been swamped the past week, so I haven't been able to post.
Praying hard AIC!!!!!!
Looking forward to more good news from everyone! My tm jumped up some, but it was drawn right after the great PET scan, so I am not going to worry about it. The pet is way more diagnostic! -
Has anyone lost their nails? I had always been faithful about icing but just kind of quit 3 tx ago due to just being tired of this whole thing. Now my nails are red and tender. i WILL BE FURIOUS IF IT HAPPENS JUST IN TIME FOR GARDENING SEASON!!
-
Ecstatic to report that I am still NED!!!!! Thanks for the prayers! Lilylady, I lost one toenail, but it was troubled before haha. I had a couple fingernails that look like they are lifting a little but not bad at all. Hoping yours stay put!
-
i took a sneeker to shoe maker and had the toe box removed. that way i was able to walk, go to gym, and play golf. so happy about you and ned
-
so happy about you and ned

Is it normal to lose your nails during Taxol treatment? Is there anything that I can do early on to help this???
-
My are starting to lift up and get red. I've been told to soak. Them in tree tea oil. Any other words of advice?
What do you guys do after they are gone? Just keep them wrapped up. -
Z28, mine are starting to go, very painful nail beds. 3 nails look deformed..:(
I've read from these lovely ladies to ice them during your infusion. Initially, I understood that taxotere was the culprit but apparently it's all the taxines. Do any patients at your center wear the blue gloves? You can request them from your nurse, they keep them in the freezer on the ward and it's free (over here). No gloves, then put thin plastics gloves on and dip your fingers in ice water. Too late for me I think but I'll ask my nurses on Tuesday. Good luck! -
i went for my 2nd tx of taxotere herceptin and perjeta today. met w my docs first and they were pleased. tumor markers are down and there is some shrinkage in the auxilla. this is the first time i have had any shrinking in the past 17 months since diagnosed w mets. i hope it lasts.
-
Yaaaaaaaaayy AIC!!!!!!!!!
Great news!
I still have all of my nails, but they are wavy and very thin. I keep them cut very short. -
Glad to hear about your shrinkage, Barb! That is awesome news!
-
thanks
-
Well ladies as suspected my time with you all on p/h/t has come to an end. Scans showed progression everywhere including return of my liver met. My lung met has grown some. The bone mets have spread like wildfire. Super disappointed but not sad to be saying goodbye to taxotere. Will start TDM1 on the 10th. Coping with this progression much better than I expected.
I hope you ladies have much better luck than I did on this combo.

Has anybody had their hair start growing back? I think they are going to reduce my taxotere because of my nails. My hair is still shedding, but I've managed to keep a little bit. I just don't think it's growing.
