Chemo curls ???
My hair is finally coming back. Yea!! The question is, has anybody else had curls in spots? In some places it's straight, other places its curly. Looks strange.

Chemo curls are very common. After a while, your hair may go back to normal.
-
Yes, but this is patchy, some straight, some curls. Strange looking

My hair came in super-curly from forehead to the nape of my neck and wavy, but not as curly on the sides. And thicker and wirey. Prior to this I had baby-fine, all-over slightly wavy hair. At first, I used to flat-iron the snot out of the top to make it lie flat, but, now, fourteen months later, it seems to be settling down somewhat. I don't need to use the flat-iron as much, but it's still curly enough for me to continue to keep cutting it short like my avatar.

Yes! That's what I meant! I always had short straight hair. Soft and fine. This! This is awful. I never had perms. I'm already looking forward to my first hair cut, it's only an inch long now.

Pretty sure it will just eventually go away and become like it was before. I was so thrilled when, for the first time in my life, I gre in thick, curly! hair. then it went back to straight as a poker and I have to use grooming clay to keep it from looking like a beatle cut.

Maybe if my mom hadn't tortured me when I was a kid with those horrible Toni/Lilt home perms I could deal with this better. LOL. She thought whatever ailed your hair could be fixed with curls. I'm gonna check out flat irons.
-
I have a really small, short one that is intended for bangs. It's easier to handle on the shorter hair.

I had curly hair as a baby but after my first haircut it was straight. I also had the Lilt and Toni perms given by my mother. It was an ordeal to go through and for a few weeks afterword the curl was way too tight. Surprising it didn't fall out with all of the the chemicals it was subjected to. After losing it during chemo it has come back curly and is soft and easy to manage.
Selena - your picture is beautiful. I think you look like a movie star!
-
Um... my avatar is a movie star. It's Charlize Theron, but I use the picture as an avatar because it is the photo I took to my hairdresser right before starting chemo and asked her to cut my hair like that.
I can't remember how I got the photo to upload and everytime I try to change it to one of me, it doesn't. So, I'd love to say thank you, but that wouldn't be fair.
-
Thanks for clearing that up. But I am sure you are beautiful too!
-
I love my chemo curls - much nicer than my previous dead straight hair.
