Try a search here on breastcancer.org or Wikipedia or even Google.  What you'll find is that there is no evidence that Issels treatment is effective in treating/curing cancer.  You'll also find that Issels has a legal history specifically involving fraud and manslaughter - not the kind of guy I'd look to if my life is at stake.  Please do some really careful and objective research before you decide.  Caveat emptor.

Here's one link to start your research:

I would subscribe to to the Yahoo group http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/cancercured/

Some of the members have direct knowledge of the difference between clinics. Asking on this BCO group you will often get a trollish answer or people who will tell you to google. Wink

sun123 ~  I've heard mixed things about Issels (all second and third hand), but if you're interested in alternative therapies, a place that I've heard excellent things about is The Block Center in IL.  They're a very credible integrative facility that combines the best of cutting edge traditional medicine with proven alternative treatments.  Maybe worth checking out if you haven't already:  http://www.blockmd.com/   Deanna

    Janeluvsdogs, LOL!

Google can be a very valuable tool for research (obviously one needs to use discriminating common sense as to which results are credible and which ones use titles like "cancercured" or "the moon is made of cheese" or other nonsense.  What's trollish about suggesting that someone do some objective research before making a treatment decision? Seriously?

Wow  Sealed  The description of the Yahoo group you linked to above:

"...We believe in individual experience far more then we believe in double blind placebo "studies" funded by pharmaceutical companies. We are interested in pursuing and trying therapies that have not been accepted, studied or researched by mainstream medicine - those that other people and the medical community may have never heard about, or are afraid to try ..."

What we call alternative cancer treatment, notably the Issels program, is very wide spread now. It originated when Dr. Issels first combined natural methods, Vitamins, nutrition, detoxification, in combination with conventional and nuclear medicine.

The Issels philosophy is to treat the underlying causual factors, not just focus on the symptom. In others words, rather than cut, chemo or radiate, - what is causing the health issue? We all produce cancer cells, everyday. A healthy immune system deals with them..a depleted immune system becomes overwhelmed.

The first aspect of the Issels program is to build up the immune system. Persons who are on immuno suppressants due to organ transplants are inelligible as the Issels program boosts the immune system to the point the body would possibly reject the organ.

This first phase of the Issels program is monitored by an extensive blood panel and other tumor markers. Insuarance does not cover the Issels program, however their Doctors will bill your insurance for blood labs, scans, and other diagnostics as they monitor your progress.

These methods are now being copied by numerous Alternative Cancer Treatment providers globally. The programs are largely the same, Issels being the most experienced.

Does it work?  Depends..if a patient has waited to the last hour, been completely exhausted by surgery, chemo, and radiation...and they ask Issels to help..it does not give them much to work with, but the Doctors there will try.

There are remarkable turn arounds even with very advanced stages. Most of the cases that are having good success are when the patient is not entirely exhasuted..early stage 4 or stage 3. It is far better to attend such a program as Issels at the FIRST signs of Cancer.....that is when to most effective and long term results can be expected in a higher percentage of patients.

Issels does not exclude surgery, chemo, or radiation...simply..thery do all the other treatments first or in combination for a better overall result.

Because of the cost, most do not come until they have exhausted all other means, and desperation brings a certain amount of clarity in their choices. Had they added up all the co-payments, work loss, and other expenses that conventional treatment includes..the Issels program or others like it suddenly show as being a very good investment.

It is very easy to knock something by typing a few words on the internet. The Cancer society/industry is no doubt biased to their own high high cost methods and would of course be threatened by anything more effective or at a lower overall cost.

I have been to the Issels Clinic in Santa Barbara, they helped my friend who had been sent home to die. Dr Issels and his staff rejuvinated her, she even went back to work for a year..but the toll on her body from the radiation and chemo eventually did her under in my opinion.

I encourage anyone to contact Dr. Issels. It is one thing to type a negative statement online, it is another to make a video telling the world how you were helped. I invite all of you to examine the video evidence.
