Can anyone tell me how long you were out of work after your surgical biopsy?

I am scheduling one today but trying to figure out with work.

Thanks for any input!!

I think I was told to take the day off after surgery and could go back the day after that but with lifting restrictions for a few days.  I had to take an extra day because they used surgical glue on me instead of steristrips because of tape allergy & had to be a little more careful not to pull the incision apart.

I was not terribly sore afterwards.  I think I took one pain pill then switched to Aleve.

A day or two is all that you really need but I say stay home Friday too. This is the time to be good to yourself. All this biopsy stuff is taxing, more mentally than physically so Friday can be a mental health day! I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news.

Thanks Barbara. Unfortunately I am recovering from lumbar fusion so was out of work for 2.5 months. UGH...so done!

I had mine last Thursday, by Saturday most of the pain was gone and I was back to work with no problem on Monday

I went back to work 24 hours after I was discharged from my surgical excision. (I work the graveyard shift.)  I did that because I was afraid if they found 'something worse' (which they didn't) I would need every sick leave day I had.  If I did it over again, I probably would have taken an extra day off.  I think most of the problem with going back to work in 24 hours was that I think I still was recovering  from the twilight anesthesia (propofol).  For me, a snug bra (like a jog bra) was better than any pain meds.  I couldn't return to jogging for another week or two.  (The bouncing motion on my breasts caused discomfort.)

I had mine on a Friday and went back to work on Monday.  The surgery was a non issue, but I had difficulty recovering from the anesthesia.  I had to take naps each day at work.  It was so bad I brought in my camping pads, pillow and a blanket.  I had to put in 10 hour days that week and the next.  It was a realy busy time at work and I was the supervisor of my unit.
